How does that apply? I thought the broken window fallacy illustrates how money spent for reconstruction from a destructive event is not a net benefit to society. Because X gives to Y while Z loses what X would've normally given to Z had an event not occurred that forces X to give to Y. Or something like that.
Shit that is a good title dude

No it's not, unless you want to provide an example of a better way that 40 million could be invested.
The monarchy, as silly as it may seem to me, is still a good investment.

It's basically an example of opportunity cost. It would apply here if there is a better or equal way to spend the money currently spent on the monarchy.

The tourism part. Basically, money not spent on things that are related to the monarchy by the tourists that visit the country are usually spent elsewhere. You can't credit the monarchy for the full profit of tourists because that would assume that 100% of tourists visit the UK because they have a monarch.
Am I the only one who doesn't give two shits about the queen?
The "royal" family gets too much praise just for being born, it's the 21st century
Just wanted to know the weather this morning but nooo sunrise had to have full coverage on the fucking clusterfuck boat race
jingoism ho!
jingoism ho!
Then I thought "hang on a second...".
What a wonderfully misleading title.
It's kind of funny that the apocalypse is predicted for the year where this country has a sudden patriotism event horizon from like three different events.

Surely it wouldn't be URESWNI for short, it would just be U.R as the full name at the moment is United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and we don't call it UKGBNI
I find it kind of funny that people actually get bothered about there being a monarchy, some people like it and its not doing any harm so why are you all so butthurt?

Being guaranteed the title "head of state" with the only merit of being the first born of the one who currently holds that title. The population deserves having that position elected, this is the 21st century.

It's tradition, they have no real power.

Bad traditions should be abolished, and they have ceremonial duties, and they represent the country without being elected.

She ceremonialy represents the country, however David Cameron is the one who (unfortunately) respresents the country abroad.
Love it how the singers at the end were just soaking wet singing God save the Queen. Sums up Britain quite well.

"How dare you ever make fun of any democratically elected official when you guys still have this dark ages bullshit going on?"

Second coming of the Holy British Empire.
God Save The Queen
It's a shame the BBC coverage was so awful. "Well there's the pageant, erm, I think that's the flag of Tuvalu maybe? I don't know. Here's Fearne Cotton patronising a Second World War veteran."

God save the Queen!

This dude's videos should be compulsory viewing in schools.
the queen could give 1% of her yearly income to help the homeless in London, the amount of money she gets that would solve London's homeless problem several times over
I am so glad I don't live in Derry any more, the utter madness that will be going on this week will probably be news worthy. Loyalists celebrating the Jubilee but then also using it as another way of getting at the folks at the Bogside. And then the tit for tat starts.

You think £400,000 would solve London's homeless problem?
