What's with all the re-releases and updates to old games recently? Stronghold HD and Stronghold Crusader HD - had a lot of fun with it Age of Empires 2 HD - looking forward to that Worms Armageddon - planning on getting this, I loved Worms 2 and Worms World Party, never owned Armageddon. and now Duke 3D
Sometimes you just can't beat the classics.
It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum.
Didn't even know it had been released, just wondering, does it have mouse aiming? Cause if so I'll buy it fo sure. Its £6.29 I also managed to grab it on GoG when they were giving it away for free and have eduke installed, but I would gladly buy this game 100x over if it was updated throughout the years same with Monkey Island.
Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition will continue to receive feature updates including Steamworks-enabled online multiplayer
awesome, going to wait to buy it when that's out.
I was brought up on these games and I wish it was the Nintendo 64 version, I much prefer the pistol in that.
Holy fuck, those expansions like "Life's a beach" are pretty hard to come by or maybe that's just what I think
I've got both Life's a beach and Duke it out in DC on the original CD, had no idea they were rare. Life's a beach is by far one of the best expansions packs for anything ever.
Does the steam version come with multiplayer co-op or just multiplayer? And that price is for the game and the dlc or is the dlc separate?

Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition includes: Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition Duke Caribbean: Life's a Beach Duke It Out in D.C. Duke: Nuclear Winter Duke Nukem 3D Classic
I don't care much for things like achievements and I've already got Atomic Edition working with the HRP and eDuke32. Aside from it being Devolver Digital doing this re-release, would the multiplayer or expansion packs justify this purchase? :v:
Mouse control is awful, and the game options somewhat suffer from "modern games syndrome". You'd better just download eduke32 after installing the game, and use that.
• You can't run usermaps through the menu directly with it while you could in the original jonof. Only when adding -map mapname.map in launch options by right clicking on the game in your library. Why removing that? • Can't change music and SE volumes independantly. There is only one bar; You could do that in the original game in DOS. Why removing that? • Musics stop for half a second at the end when looping instead of looping smoothly • can't play the "+" version without opengl even though opengl fucks up shading • mouse sensitivity setttings not precise enough : it's either too slow or too fast • can't quicksave/quickload, have to go through the menu • can't change HUD size on the fly, have to go through the menu Copied from Duke4.net Forums to warn you guys about these. They need to fix these issues before they release a multiplayer for it. I at least need them to fix the Sensitivity issues. Personally I'll just stick the the GoG version I got and use xDuke and hDuke with DukeMatcher like I have been doing.
I was brought up on these games and I wish it was the Nintendo 64 version, I much prefer the pistol in that.
Duke Nukem 64 was meh. It was stripped down from the original game, had significant level changes and like other games on the console, was limited by the poor hardware design. It also had a lot of bugs that caused problems. Most of the weapons were really buggy and caused annoying problems: Rocket Launcher: Heat seeking missles were often unreliable and would just fly a corkscrew pattern to some random place. In multiplayer there was the rare chance that a heat seeking missile would loop back and explode the player that fired it. Shrinker/Expander: In multiplayer, players could be permanently shrunk or even expanded (without exploding) by rapidly switching between both weapons and hitting the victim with blasts from both. While you are able to move around while shrunken, most of the time when you get expanded, you get stuck in place. Grenade Launcher: Besides having animation glitches and generally looking bad, the collision hull of the actual projectile grenade is about the size of an atom. This lets grenades get stuck in micro-crevices (bugs in the map caused by precision errors) and they can infinitely bounce causing sound rape or the game to crash. If the game doesn't crash, the resulting explosion is often amplified to a huge radius that instantly kills everything. Plasma Gun: This is the most glitchy and annoying weapon in the game. Firing the gun a certain way can cause the game to crash, but more often it causes infinite sound loops at max volume that don't go away. It can also cause victims to become undead (like with the expander) where they turn into a black silhouette and get stuck in place. Other glitches that are also irritating: In some levels, getting squished can crash the game (the prison level with the gears and acid pit.) In some situations you can actually fall out of the level (red light district.) And there are often glitches with world geometry disappearing randomly. Regardless, there is a PC port of Duke 64 that is mostly complete, but it has yet to be released. There is an older version available for download though: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ndnaik3mfjo I also ported Shaft and made some minor cosmetic changes: http://www.mediafire.com/?6gkyh467atj4u36
The eduke32 polymer lighting and the high resolution pack kind of does that [img_thumb]http://plagman.net/stuff/dx10_renderer/dx10_renderer.png[/img_thumb]
I never liked those models they have in that mod. I much prefer the classic sprites
I never liked those models they have in that mod. I much prefer the classic sprites
I especially don't like the look of the Mighty Boot in HRP.
I never liked those models they have in that mod. I much prefer the classic sprites
I think the models look alright, but the animations are really bad on nearly all of the models in that game. The polymer renderer is also really inefficient, buggy and slow. I think they'd be better off adding radiosity support to the engine, as well as true 3d support.
So many good memories of Duke Nukem 3D. It's a shame Quake got so popular when these were released around the same time. I think Duke3D had far better level design.

OMG guys if you go to duke4.net you can read that the Devs know about the bugs and that multiplayer is not released yet. The Devs wanted to make the target release date. I for one think that Duke Nukem 3D on steam is more than any of us hardcore duke fans could ask for. I only say this because when I originally wanted Duke Nukem 3D the only option was getting it from 3d realms sketchy looking web site. And I'm also not into the whole hard copy CD games anymore. Id much rather have all my games (old, new, and classics) on steam :-) http://forums.duke4.net/topic/6353-duke-nukem-3d-megaton-edition-released-for-pc-mac/

If they fix the issues for the Steam release then they might have wasted their time (or maybe not).

Anyone else having problems accessing the store page? I get a "sorry, but you cannot view these materials at this time".
I was able to view the store page on my phone :-/
I'll probably wait to get this until they add the multiplayer.
Caved in and bought it, btw to fix the mouse movement force vsync off via your graphics cards control panel :)
I'll probably wait to get this until they add the multiplayer.
And fix the terrible duke bot AI. They seem to like the bathrooms in every level for some reason..
