Nope. Entire party. If your party just has a few failures on occasion, then whatever, but all the Republicans do, all day, every day, is make life as miserable as is humanly possible for everyone inside my country.
I am no longer willing to compromise with these fucking psychopaths. I am tired of them, their extreme greed, and their ability to use their invisible magical friend as a weapon to control the ignorant masses fucking up my country. It is irresponsible and ridiculously dangerous when you have a nation that sits atop such an overfunded military force.
I am tired of being told that compromise is the answer. The Democrats have compromised enough. We are barreling full steam ahead towards needing to kill the goddamn Republicans in order to solve the problem. Widespread peaceful protest is the first step, and as we have seen, it has very much been taken. Angry angry people are organizing across the country in large groups with other angry individuals. If this fails, these people don't magically disappear. They are now angry, poor, networked, and disenfranchised. This is when you start producing radicals as a society and when bad things begin to happen.
That is not compromise. That is giving in. Compromise is when BOTH sides sit down and prepare to give a little to get a little. When one side shows the hatred and spite your post shows, then we are put into positions where there is no compromise, there is only misery.
You guys are mad over a bill that gives companies money from us to "create jobs" even though they would just use the money elsewhere.
It's true our lives are pretty much governed by those big corporations and their business techniques, however throwing money at them won't solve problems. I don't know the answers I admit. I'm actually really torn between how I feel about even my own political views. My parents are hard-core republicans, my friends are all hipster-liberal democrats. I guess I see things part way in each direction.
I really don't like the split we have currently between the two political parties, and the hate. Both sides disagreeing with things left and right.
You guys are mad over a bill that gives companies money from us to "create jobs" even though they would just use the money elsewhere.
the problem is that they have money to create jobs already but are sitting on it already. It opens up opportunity for small businesses to rise by cutting taxes and adding breaks for 98% of businesses, taxes the rich more proportionately, reduces our deficit by billions over time, added new jobs directly, gave tax credit to war veterans, and ultimately reduced unemployment by a whole percentage.

Democrats try to compromise. The other side gives nothing and is willing to ride the nation into the dirt in order to accomplish their objectives. We almost defaulted completely because they were willing do to exactly that.
How do you compromise with crazy people?
We have been hijacked as a nation by corruption.
FUCK YOU REPUBLICANS.

I believe I posted the key provisions on the bill earlier on in the thread. What Daijitsu said was correct, but there's also going to be a federal infrastructure bank to put money into repairing roads and bridges.

People simply need to see that compromise is the way. If people are so obsessed with getting what they want and they don't care about the rest of the people whether they be minority or majority, that is when problems arise. You can't decide the actions of other people, but you can decide yours. By being willing to sit down and negotiate and come up with a solution that benefits all parties, that shows maturity and strength on your part. If you just lock yourself up because the other side won't listen, then all hope is lost. Spread the message of compromise over controversy, cooperation over competition. Start talks on what is the same, not what is different.
Man I thought the republicans were all about jobs but all they seem to be focused on is abortions.
My brother told me that there will be protesting in a similar manner as the Wall Street protests over in Flint, MI. Not exactly sure where in Flint it'll happen (as Flint really doesn't have any significant building that I know of in order to protest infront of) but I'll be sure to go and try to snap some pictures. I'm guessing there will probably be some posters about this jobs bill up there.
ITT republican apologists
I'm no expert on the history of US politics but I know the country has been run many times by Republicans over the last century, why is it that it's so bad all of the sudden?
Anyone notice what Congress was fighting about today? Jobs? Economy?
Nope. ABORTION!
I'm no expert on the history of US politics but I know the country has been run many times by Republicans over the last century, why is it that it's so bad all of the sudden?
Because now a Democrat is the figurehead, and Republicans still have a good amount of power.

Because we are ideologically left and republicans are ideologically right. These guys have a political viewpoint that runs completely contrary to ours, and that is an incredibly big deal for us.

Democrats, ideologically Left? Their left-most members would be considered Centre-Left at their most extreme, I don't know what you're talking about.
So the only reason the Republicans are blocking this bill is because it's legislation that Obama introduced, even though the Republicans had previously supported many of the measures that are now in this bill?

Essentially, yes.
Well the Republicans are even bigger assholes now then when they were in power. I really hope Gingrich doesn't become president in 2012.
Democrats, ideologically Left? Their left-most members would be considered Centre-Left at their most extreme, I don't know what you're talking about.
No, their left-most members would be progressive which isn't center at all.
Anyways I wasn't talking about Democrats. I sure as hell am not a Democrat. I was talking about us, as in Facepunch, which is predominantly left, especially among the most outspoken members.

I think it's because we're mostly young, well informed, and don't have billions of dollars to hoard. It's a pretty obvious fact that the older and the richer tend to lean right because that is what benefits them. At least 75% of the people anywhere near my age or younger that I know are "Republican" are simply rep because their family is, and they usually have an extremely outspoken father who watches fox and cites beck and limbaugh even when you're not talking politics
I can't say that it's like that with everyone, but I think the parental influence stems on both sides whilst kids are relatively uninformed by any other sources.

That's not right... there was no mention of Obama being a Nazi. At best this guy's a "moderate" republican.

And then they both decide that the best way to get out of their financial problems is to open another credit card.

What's funny is that Republicans consider themselves the party that's out for the poor and blue collar workers, and view the Democrats as rich snobs who never worked a day in their life, or lazy people asking to for government handouts(which is understandably very aggravating for someone who works 40-60 hours per week just to put food on the family table). They also feel Liberal regulation is mostly beneficial to Democrats because Democrats make money off of it.
So Democrats and Republicans generally perceive one another pretty similarly. I find that absolutely humorous.

it's obviously in both party's best interest to advertise themselves to the little man, especially those who don't actually go and research things. Strike heartstrings and use insignificant but prevalent problems to lure people in, get religion or at least religious views involved (IE anything to do with gays or women's choices).
Neither party is innocent of such tactics, but as far as I've managed to see for a long while now, the republican party is majorly backed by corporations and the rich, and uses the little guy to get even more momentum where money can't just buy things right off the bat. I don't know how they do it so well, but they get so much support when if you read shit there's nothing in it for the common voters. I don't consider myself dedicated to any one party, but I'm absolutely fed up with the current right on the national level.
the republican party is majorly backed by corporations and the rich, and uses the little guy to get even more momentum where money can't just buy things right off the bat.
The Democrats have a surprising amount of that going on as well. The regulations they put forward tend to benefit major corporations in some way.
They also get huge amounts of money from other special interest groups.
I don't know how they do it so well, but they get so much support when if you read shit there's nothing in it for the common voters.
Of course. Most Conservative ideals come from the viewpoint of "Leave me the fuck alone". They don't want to be taxed more, they don't want to be restricted, they don't want to have a harder time working or feeding their family. Where the liberals, and to lesser extent the Democrats, believe in protecting the little man from exploitation, the Republicans see it as hurting their ability to make free choices as Americans. Conservatives want the option to succeed or fail, without being babied, or being forced to baby someone else.
Of course that belief gets twisted and distorted when it comes to religion and terrorism.
ITT: Nobody bothering to think about how this will all be paid for
They do what they always do. They take our money, and then give some of it back to us and tell us how they are so awesome for doing that.
ITT: Nobody bothering to think about how this will all be paid for
It doesn't need to be payed for right now. If there is any reason to add more debt, this is an acceptable one. We should take the hit and begin paying it off in better economic times.
