Antimatter Cloud Discovered - IT'S MINING TIME BOYS
How would it have formed such a huge cloud then? Wouldn't it have been destructed by matter even before gathering into a huge cloud?
[editline]01:46AM[/editline]
Thats actually something I can't quite comprehend. How it possibly formed into the center of a galaxy, that is.
As I mentioned, it doesn't make sense, but seemingly it's possible. How? I don't know.
And that's why the cosmos is interesting; there's still things we don't know.
And all the other paricles that constantly moves about the galactic center?
Point is; It's highly improbable for it to exist for long.
Well, seeing that the milky way is about 8.8 ± 1.7 billion years old (just talking about the disk, the first star in our system is way older), the cloud could have also existed along time ago. Seeing it is still that big (and trying to fit into my mind how big it could have been) the cloud could very well still exist.
And this is great news. If we ever develop the ability to travel those distances, we could us that.
Damn, that's alot of could, if and other probability words :v:
Wouldn't it be worth nothing if there was lots of it?
Only if we manage to have easy access to all of it.
70% of the earths surface is water, and yet people still pay extortionate prices for a hand sized amount.

Once again: Seemingly, it exists.
And finding a way to travel the distance isn't very much of a problem. Finding the time however...

I didn't say it still exists, rather then it could still exist. And that it could have existed for a very long time.
Not disagreeing with you :buddy:

Nah, I understand your point. :buddy:
And about it's existance: Well, it seemingly did 25 000 years ago.
What I however disagree with the OP is the possibility of mining it.
So if we do get some antimatter, who has the kind of money to buy it?
Only if we manage to have easy access to all of it.

Yes, but how much of that water is drinkable(I assume you're talking about the prices on those water bottles and whatnot)
Just consider the possibilities, Antimatter costs 62.5 trillion dollars per gram of Anti-Hydrogen. And this cloud is thousands of light years in diameter, containing quadrillions of tons of antimatter.
I'm fucking rich!
I'm fucking rich!
62,5x10^12 dollars is the price of making a gram of antimatter, not the price of antimatter.
63,2x10^12 dollars is the price of making a gram of antimatter, not the price of antimatter.
Why didn't you just say 62.5 trillion?
Antimatter? In my universe?!?!
Why didn't you just say 62.5 trillion?
I prefer writing 62,5x10^12.
I don't know why, I just always do.
That is god... :O
That is god... :O
No it isn't.
It's antimatter, appearently.
So if we do get some antimatter, who has the kind of money to buy it?
Why would anyone want to buy it
Cause it's the most powerful explosive possible.
Militaries

However, they're not attracted to electrons unless they get incredibly, incredibly close, according to Coulomb's Law. (The further apart subatomic particles get, regardless of charge, the less pull they feel). And it's measured in Angstroms, which are ridiculously small.
With a distance of 1 meter the acceleration each particle experiences is
F = k*Q^2/r^2
a = F/m
k = 8.99 * 10^9 whateverunits
Q = 1.6 * 10^-19 C
r = 1 m
m = 9.1 * 10^-31 kg
a = (k*Q^2/r^2)/m =
((8.99*10^9)*((1.6*10^-19)^2)/(1^2))/(9.1*10^-31) m/s^2 =
8.99*1.6^2/9.1 * 10^(9-2*19+31) m/s^2 =
2.5 * 10^3 m/s^2
Something with the mass of an electron is easily attracted.
[editline]02:30AM[/editline]
With a distance of 100 meters the acceleration only drops to 0.25 m/s^2
[editline]02:35AM[/editline]
Strangely enough, it should have exploded from the sunlight that reached it.
Since sunlight is also considered matter (albeit naked to the human eye)
As for transporting matter, that would cost more than actually MINNING it.
I mean, even if we get that magnetic field/gravitation theory, we would still need to make it so not even the smallest particle would be able to touch it (AKA neutrins, or whatever you english people call them (no not neutrons))
that can go 14 kilometers deep in to the earths crust.
Why am i talking about this, what about actaully GETTING to that cloud?
There's no proof of antiphotons or whatever you're suggesting that could annihilate photons
Not to mention, what exactly would this explosion do
Release more photons?
It's possible there's a whole universe made from anti-matter. There's also theories that the universe started as anti-matter and matter, but for some reason still unknown, matter came out ontop.
good vs evil?
but good and evil are always equal, how do we not know distant galaxies are not made of antimatter?
Yes, but how much of that water is drinkable(I assume you're talking about the prices on those water bottles and whatnot)
You think paying £1+ for a bottle of water is reasonable?! It costs next to nothing to purify gallons of water, same to make a bottle.
You think paying £1+ for a bottle of water is reasonable?! It costs next to nothing to purify gallons of water, same to make a bottle.
Can you find a statistic to "how much it really cost to make this bottle of water"? That'd be cool to see.
You people are incredibly optimistic :v:
You people are incredibly optimistic :v:
Not me.
I've complained about the distance problem all the time.
62,5x10^12 dollars is the price of making a gram of antimatter, not the price of antimatter.
Fuck that shit, all I need to do is get to this cloud and bring back a handful of this shit and I'm set for life! It's a flawless plan!
It's not a proper noun, it's not capitalized- I was referring to how you do it all the time.
I see u are learning a lot in your 8th grade english class
