Odds are they'll make it an independent republic as a puppet state. Would be less expensive that way.

That's it. Even if Crimea will join us or becomes independent republic, that's purely because of Crimean people's will. Same with Odessa and other cities willing to join Crimea - we don't force them, the citizens of those cities want it. Really, I don't get how you American people get the idea that we want to annex anything. Look at the map - there's plenty of land we own already, why we need more?
