Muse have gone too far this time. But seriously though, this is quite horrible. And you'd think Thom Yorke would be depressed enough without having one of his fans crushed to death.
Breaking News: Radiohead's One Remaining Fan Killed In Tragic Stage Collapse
Breaking News: Radiohead's One Remaining Fan Killed In Tragic Stage Collapse
no i'm fine
reminds me of that Pearl Jam concert in denmark were 9 people got crushed to death by the audience
At least it wasnt as bad as the one in Indiana a year or two back that killed like 6-7 people in the crowd.
I really have a passionate hatred for radiohead, and I have since the 90's but Jesus, making wisecracks over someone dying at a music concert is pretty damn low, they went in there hoping to have a good time, not to lose their life.
no i'm fine
Oh, thank god. I was worried.
Are you a fan of Oasis by any chance?
I really love Radiohead but I don't think Oasis is any bad.
Turns out the victim who died was Radiohead's drum technician, Scott Johnson. R.I.P. Scott. This will probably mean the end to the band's epic light shows and the last leg of their world tour. Most of their equipment and instruments were also on stage, probably now destroyed.
Update: The stage collapse was due in part to a calculation error when the band insisted to the stage crew that 2+2=5
Radiohead is depressing enough at the best of times :(
This is terrible, I'm sure the band themselves will be devastated about it too.
oh my god wow some of that equipment dated back to like 1995
I have since read that the guitars were most likely offstage. However, some rather valuable instruments like a Fender Rhodes, Analogue Systems French Connection, and who knows how many others were probably wrecked. The drums are definitely goners too. Thankfully Jonny Greenwood does not carry around his authentic Ondes Martenot on tour. Those can all be replaced though, that man's life cannot :(

Takes them an awfully long time to get it shuffled around for Radiohead though. Also in the one picture, the overhead screens were already up though, which means that that's all wrecked.
reminded me of this

I feel awful for being selfish, but I hope none of the shows in Europe are cancelled. I have tickets to see them in Germany in a couple of weeks.
Phil Selway has posted about Scott Johnson on Dead Air Space
We have all been shattered by the loss of Scott Johnson, our friend and colleague. He was a lovely man, always positive, supportive and funny; a highly skilled and valued member of our great road crew. We will miss him very much. Our thoughts and love are with Scott's family and all those close to him.
What was that guy doing there? He didn't belong there. (I do actually find this really depressing and I'm terribly sorry for their loss, I just wanted to make a lyric joke)
It reminds me of an accident which happened 3 years ago, here in Slovakia. http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/jul/20/fan-dies-slovakian-music-festival
Wasn't there another stage collapse just a few months back? You'd think there'd be a drive for safety above all else by this point.
