It's literally going to be battlefield with a star wars skin
No classes is now a Battlefield clone?
I thought this was revealed last month. Does 'sharpen your pitchforks' suggest that we should dislike this decision, or suggest that we should include pitchforks in our loadout?
Both.
Fine by me! Saying that proves you've really not been reading up on what Battlefront 3's gameplay will actually be like.
the devs can say whatever they like, its almost never followed up on. So many newer games are released without half the shit they show at conferences.
Constructing your own class has been something that existed in Rogue Squadron. It works really well although it makes some guns much much better than others. I'm hoping they balance it

The 2-person squad seems pretty interesting. I only ever play with my roommate in a squad and have learned to cope with it despite being locked into our squad. But yes I see a the curiosity in how ghe transition comes from having multiple friends . Overall I'm still just as excited to see how the game turns out. I'm not one to preload every game but i believe this will be one .
Still disappointed at the lack of Clone Wars in it. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if DICE makes a paid DLC for Clone Wars, much like they did for Vietnam on Bad Company 2.
It's literally going to be battlefield with a star wars skin
Have you read any Battlefront articles as of late? Because every time I do, all I hear is how much they don't wont that.
Purely speculation, i've got a feeling that you have to play +370 hours to get the rocket launcher. Or just drop a one time deposit of $23,- to get the gun right now! Let's hope not.
Lel when has that ever been the case in a Dice game.
Lel when has that ever been the case in a Dice game.
You could buy battle packs too unlock equipment or some shit. I never really bought into it. Regardless, while free class build sounds quite fun, it could lead to people going to a cookie cutter sort. Instead of being support, healer, or what have you that might be beneficial to the team. I have optimism, but every update for BF3 makes me a little lenient and wary.
Great news; customizable classes are great. Gives you more options when facing different scenarios
The more I hear about this (buddy spawn system, score streak rewards for support options and possibly vehicles, loadouts instead of classes) the more it has me thinking of a slightly larger scale Medal of Honour: Warfighter with the Star Wars brand than Battlefield-lite as so many other people are comparing it to.
No space battles, and no Clones/Droids. I hope we can still get a bunch of AI so battles are bigger.
It's literally going to be battlefield with a star wars skin
And Battlefront 2 wasn't Battlefield 2 with a starwars skin.
And Battlefront 2 wasn't Battlefield 2 with a starwars skin.
people keep saying "its gonna be battlefield with a star wars skin" as if that wasnt the entire point of the series in the first place
And Battlefront 2 wasn't Battlefield 2 with a starwars skin.
Battlefront 2 was modified from Battlefront 1 that came out before Battlefield 2 Battlefront 2 only came out 4 months after Battlefield 2 So more of a BF1942 with a Star Wars skin.
So it's like Call of Duty now? EDIT: Not sure why I'm getting dumbs. "Unlockable weapons and gear that players will be able to 'freely' select prior to combat" sounds EXACTLY like the CoD system where you make your own class.
So basically squads 'lite'? 2142 already had a similar system where if you were in a squad you got access to next levels of class loadouts or something along those lines but I wonder if they plan to extend it even more somehow.
Those were the Field Upgrades. You got them if your squad performed well and it allowed you to try next unlocks or gave your Squad Leader access to Priority insertion or something like that (faster spawning), etc. It was a great way to try out next unlocks and helped you decide for the one that was right for you. For me, 2142 was the closest to game 'signularity' that I ever experienced. Nothing ever came close to it. Even people were better teamplayers back then. Support would come running with ammo from far. Or maybe I got it bit romaticised in my memory. Anyway, DICE should already fucking divorce EA, pick up 2142 where they left it and give us game that we deserve.

rip, overpowered annoying engineer class. I will always miss long range shotgun blasts and hacking into the other teams AT-AT which was being driven by the only non-human player on the server.
It's literally going to be battlefield with a star wars skin
There's distinct differences, ofcourse it's going to be similar! Battlefront was INSPIRED by Battlefield from it's birth, now Battlefield's developer is making it. And they're not making a Battlefield: Star Wars. Do some research before complaining.

Two man teams, you could run up to another guy and press a button to heal or get ammo from them.
Lel when has that ever been the case in a Dice game.
They ruined Battlefield Heroes with P2W Guns.
The marketing for this game has been really terrible. First they put up a teaser that gives no info, and instead of actually announcing exciting stuff outside of it just being another star wars game, the only proper info we have been getting is things that are not in the game. They really should have just kept quiet and waited with marketing until they actually have something exciting to show or talk about. [editline]13th May 2015[/editline] Well, maybe this announcement is slightly different in that they had a reasonable explanation for it.
I kind of like the idea of the two-man battle buddy system? I mean it worked well in MoH, but that was like strictly fireteam-level combat, while battlefront is supposed to be on a much larger scale. Maybe if they implemented battle buddies alongside a larger squad system, that could be neat.

Three years ago, when news of the cancelled Free Radical game came to light, people posted stuff along the lines of "what were they thinking cancelling this? A new Battlefront game would market itself and sell millions of copies no matter how bad." And now the PR guys have taken that mentality to heart and we're already complaining about them making the wrong decision.
They ruined Battlefield Heroes with P2W Guns.
Good point, but I'd argue no true Battlefield game would be F2P. BF Heroes and BF F2P were Korean shooters with the Battlefield title slapped onto them.

EA realized they could make more money by selling us on nostalgia just because of the name. It's clearly not nostalgia for the gameplay of the originals. And I want fucking Pandemic back.
Its sad because Battlefront 3 leaked footage from way back had aparntly had all its gameplay mechanics working and were awesome just before they got shut down. I think this game will still be cool but it will not live up to the originals.
The 2-man squad idea has me rather concerned. If it was closer to War Thunder's squad system (where you get randomly hooked up with another squad-less) or could group with multiple friends then i'm okay with it. But if they force 2-man squad mechanics in what should be a large-scale battle event would seem too restrictive to me. Sometimes I just wanna go off alone. The customization/No-classes has me intrigued though.
