There is a huge difference between Steam and the nextbox. I have to pay 300+ dollars to have the nextbox whereas the steam client is free. There is also the huge difference between physical game distribution and digital game distribution.
Do you ever actually thing what would be involved with trading already activated steam games?
Where I should be able to bring a disk I paid for to a friends house and not have to fuck with accounts or extra fees.
Apples and oranges.
So you spent no money on your computer? Steam doesn't just run in thin air. You still have a device to play it.
nor does this?
[editline]21st May 2013[/editline]
the used game market is the worst thing to happen to gaming since Jack Thompson. Developers get no money from used game sales
So Microsoft should get all that money instead? How does that make any sense?
the fuck are you rattling on about? I have my XBL account on basically all of my friends 360s so when I go over I can sign in there, what makes you think this will work any differently?
I strongly doubt it would be that easy to work around. they'll find someway that you can only be logged onto one account or whatever. If they're putting a fee up they won't find ways that you can break it
but it is hillarious watching fanboys scramble
log into your xbl accounts at your friends the games are tied to your account ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
[editline]21st May 2013[/editline]
they're doing this to curb people going "ok im done with this game im gonna give it to my bro for free so he can do that too, and so on"
like this is literally you bashing on microsoft because they're microsoft
and steam is still not a gaming system. if you buy a pc you do not need steam (debatable these days) if you buy an xbox you will have to do this for it is the xbox and not an optional xbox program you willingly install for ease of use
....No one's saying that.
The huge differences are
A.) This kills the used game market
B.) Borrowing games or lending games to friends are fucking over
You couldn't do that on PC anyway, so it's 100% different
Microsoft has shot themselves in the foot with a 12 gauge if fanboys are actually gonna defend this one
The used game marked is crooked as fuck though.
I'm not saying I'm supporting it mind you.
you don't need to pay the fee for installing the game onto your console, do you seriously fucking think that's how it works
If the game is tied to my account does that mean I can't play a game that my brother bought if we share the console?
So you spent no money on your computer? Steam doesn't just run in thin air. You still have a device to play it.
My computer also does a lot more than just steam and netflix (which I can use for free after my netflix payment).
So are games on steam
But can I play MY games on a FRIENDS xbox? What if they don't have an internet setup for it?
I strongly doubt it would be that easy to work around. they'll find someway that you can only be logged onto one account or whatever. If they're putting a fee up they won't find ways that you can break it

Would be really stupid for them to make accounts tied to the box...
If your box breaks or you have to send it in for service, you have to make a new account? Or they have to set up an entire division to handle people calling in to transfer accounts.
I am sure it will be a login type system.
like seriously how hard is it to understand this is literally Steam: Console Edition.
It's tied to your account, that means your account has the license to run that game. If you want to play that game at a friends, either their account must ALSO have the license or you have to use your account, which is as simple as entering your email and password.
Exactly like steam.

yeah, that's kind of a bullshit move to do that you kill an entire market like that
you actually gonna tell me you've never borrowed a game from a friend to play for a weekend, or taken it over to a friends house?
like that's fucking stupid that I'll have to pay
if I bring a DVD to someone's house I don't have to pay a fiver to put it in
I'm just not gonna worry and skip the Xboxone because it soudns fucking stupid and I could give less of a shit about halo or gears of war
ok sardonus how's about you take a step back and think
what if you just signed into your XBL account on your friend's console!!!!!
you don't need to pay the fee for installing the game onto your console, do you seriously fucking think that's how it works

to install the same disc onto another user's drive, a fee must be paid.
I'm not exactly sure what it means by drive, but I'm sure the console will be forever tied with the first account used in it.
But can I play MY games on a FRIENDS xbox? What if they don't have an internet setup for it?
More than likely you would have to use your account on their box.
I'm like almost 100% sure that it would be like activating the license on your friends account as well so they have the rights to play it.
If a steam console came out it would do the same thing.
so it's literally exactly how steam operates
does no one read
steam doesnt charge you a fee for using it on another PC though so no, its not
If a steam console came out it would do the same thing.
no but this is microsin so it's bad and evil and any move they make is the devil!
ok sardonus how's about you take a step back and think
what if you just signed into your XBL account on your friend's console!!!!!
Not everyone has a console hooked to the internet.
steam doesnt charge you a fee for using it on another PC though so no, its not
Yes it does, if you try and play a steam game installed onto a computer that isn't tied to that certain account, it'll prompt you to purchase it.
so yes, it is
steam doesnt charge you a fee for using it on another PC though so no, its not
But if the games are tied to your account whose to say you can't bring your account to another xbox?
ok sardonus how's about you take a step back and think

XBL costs money. I shouldn't have to pay money to bring Tekken over to my friends house.
Not everyone has a console hooked to the internet.
They're probably looking into this exact issue
I don't think I hate microsoft I think I really fucking hate rabid fanboys who need to explain why their toy is still the best toy cause they're LOYAL

isn't "tied to that certain account"?
Have you ever even used steam?
XBL costs money. I shouldn't have to pay money to bring Tekken over to my friends house.
You're paying money to play it on your own anyways! if the game is tied to your XBL account then that means you have an XBL account!!!
you then sign into it on your friends box (for free mind you, just like how it works now!!!) and then play tekken using your account as the main one
why do people find this difficult to understand

I like that you keep saying "you sign on to your friends"
seriously they'll find a way to prevent you from doing that if they didn't want you to play games for free
your only defense for this piece of shit is speculation
I don't think I hate microsoft I think I really fucking hate rabid fanboys who need to explain why their toy is still the best toy cause they're LOYAL
That's some stupid logic. We're all going off of the same information, just interpreting it different ways. Anything either side says is basically speculation regarding a lot of topics, so saying that someone is a "fanboy" for interpreting vague information is fucking dumb.
