• Xbox One games will be "tied to owner's account"
How can you rationalize that? It's free to use on EVERY OTHER DEVICE/PLATFORM EVER. It doesn't use Microsoft's bandwidth. It's simply watching Netflix on your television using that big box you paid $300-$500 for.
No one buys an xbox just to watch netflix.
A couple guys who were totally xbox fans were discussing how much the new xbox sucks.
If I remember correctly, in order to get your xbox account on a friends xbox 360 you either had to bring your harddrive, or you had to "account recovery" on their xbox temporarily stopping him from using his account, and also eating up a bunch of time. If this is the main key/crutch to getting your games onto your friends consoles, you can bet that they'll do something to make it harder to play your games off your console.
No one buys an xbox just to watch netflix.
Microsoft thinks so.
No one buys an xbox just to watch netflix.
He didn't say that...?
I really wish everyone who said they were just going to get the PS4 because the Xbox One sucks had to sign an agreement forcing them to buy a PS4. Then when the PS4 is finally released it is in the shape of a giant pink dildo, and you have to prop it up under your TV for all to see while you play. Not because I don't like the PS4. I don't know enough about the PS4 yet or the Xbox One to make a decision either way. But because, Xbox One releases any information and all of a sudden, it is shit. "Xbox One will use electricity." "Whelp that's that, getting a PS4, fuck electricity!"
wow you really have no idea what you just said did you lol
So are games on steam
umm thats kind of extremely different this shit shouldn't happen in consoles. Why break what works great? If its digitally bought then yeah it should be account tied but fucking Christ.
jesus fucking christ did I honestly forget about the hard drive thing if it's anything like the 360, you can probably just detach your harddrive with the games on it and just use it on your friends box like you can with the 360
No one buys an xbox just to watch netflix.
What kind of an argument is that? It's still a selling point. Part of the reason one of my friends got a WiiU was that it had Netflix, so people definitely have been interested in consoles because of it. Why should you have to pay extra because it's an Xbox? The other consoles (and PC) don't make you do that.
umm thats kind of extremely different this shit shouldn't happen in consoles. Why break what works great?
I don't get why this is even an argument. A PC has always locked its games to itself via CD key or other method. Consoles have not. Why shouldn't people complain about the best aspect of consoles getting shit on?
Wait, so will I or won't I be able to buy a used game and play it on the Xbox One?
jesus fucking christ did I honestly forget about the hard drive thing if it's anything like the 360, you can probably just detach your harddrive with the games on it and just use it on your friends box like you can with the 360
judging by how it looks you can't so
I don't get why this is even an argument. A PC has always locked its games to itself via CD key or other method. Consoles have not. Why shouldn't people complain about the best aspect of consoles getting shit on?
A console is all about handing a cd to a friend to enjoying it with friends and family a pc is your personal shit a console is much more liberal and open with who uses it so lets do the next logical step and completely destroy the entire point of a console
Not what I'm saying. I'm saying don't defend the XboxOne just because it says XboxOne. I want to hear actual reasons why this is the console for you, why this is perfect. Why paying fees for used games is a great idea.
Nobody here thinks paying fees for used games is a great idea. I mean, it's probably better for the industry in the long run but fuck them. Here's a better source What is being argued is that the issue is being blown out of proportion. This is a misleading article making assumptions, as everyone else here is doing. All we know is that the fee is for putting the game on additional accounts. There's nothing about tying the games to specific consoles, nothing about the game being played by other accounts on the same console, nothing about how much that fee is going to be, etc. They're also saying Steam does exactly the same thing. Based on what we know, it sounds like it does only there's absolutely no way on Steam to get that game on someone else's account. At least here there's a fee for it. Steam is different because the games are all downloaded, of course, but there are some games you buy retail then it ties that game to your account. Civ, for example. Plus I thought there was a possibility that the PS4 was going to have games tied to accounts. Could be wrong and it might have just been a rumour I read somewhere. I completely agree that this sucks all kind of ass, of course, it's just probably not something that's bad enough that it's going to turn me off buying one. (It's having a really good PC that's going to do that.)
steam games arn't physical objects you can give to other people
They are if you get a boxed copy that installs with steam, like Just Cause 2.
jesus fucking christ did I honestly forget about the hard drive thing if it's anything like the 360, you can probably just detach your harddrive with the games on it and just use it on your friends box like you can with the 360
It doesn't really look like this has a detachable 500 gig harddrive. Mobile memory sticks for consoles long died out. Having faith they'll let you do everything you want to for free is kind of ridiculous to me when they DO actually do a bunch of money grubbing shit.
Wait, so will I or won't I be able to buy a used game and play it on the Xbox One?
You will, but you have to pay Microsoft a fee to use it.
judging by how it looks you can't so
It probably uses a brick like the Slim does, there's likely a panel you can slide off and take the hdd out of on that topic, i REALLY like how they changed the hardrives from the old 360 to the slim it just feels like it makes more sense, and easily moveable little block you can put in your pocket and bring to your friend's to play games
This guy. Xbox fans? Don't be this guy.
I was on the PS4 side of things before the Xbox announcement... I even stated that I don't know enough about either one to make a decision. If at E3 Sony comes out and says something that catches my attention, I will probably get a PS3. If Microsoft does the same thing, I might get an Xbox. Don't be an idiot. Unlike you, I am not just openly hating on either console because I am a fanboy. I am an undecided console owner and I am waiting until all information is out about both consoles to make a decision. So do you really want to make some more stupid, uneducated comments? Have at it.
steam games arn't physical objects you can give to other people
I've got quite a few physical games that required me to tie them to steam and before digital distribution most games had one use CD keys this kind of practice has been going on for ages :v:
jesus fucking christ did I honestly forget about the hard drive thing if it's anything like the 360, you can probably just detach your harddrive with the games on it and just use it on your friends box like you can with the 360
You can't do that with the newest model of 360's. Apparently you can according to the video a few post below. Didn't know that.
Pretty crazy that in 2013 they want to sell us a 500GB hard drive that isn't replaceable, since that's fucking nothing given how big games are, and still want you to fully install the games to it.
more consoles sell when consoles break down so it works out in the long run for them I guess horrible logic IMO.

The little ones? I'm not sure what you're getting at, my friend has one of the new slims and we actually broke open his old 360 fat harddrive and used the brick inside of that unit to play his old games and stuff on :v: [editline]21st May 2013[/editline]
You can't do that with the newest model of 360's.

I've got quite a few physical games that required me to tie them to steam and before digital distribution most games had one use CD keys this kind of practice has been going on for ages :v:
Yes, PC has been in one boat and consoles have been in another boat. If you ask me, consoles should stay in that boat as the party game machine. My PC can do split screen, it's set up with a TV to let me play in my living room, but no games really support 4 player PC split screen play. I don't want consoles to lose the aspect of what I love about them. Showing up at a friends house with a few of my games and a few of my friends games and playing those games together without a whole lot of trouble.
No one buys an xbox just to watch netflix.
Don't justify their fucking bullshit with the argument "oh well no one uses it for Netflix anyways" It's free to use on every other platform/device in existence. It doesn't use any of Microsoft's resources to allow users to log in and watch their Netflix (which they already pay for) but they force people to pay for Gold or "oh you can't access content you're already paying for". That's retarded and you know it.

yeah well that's what I mean, most PC games don't support split screen. like i said, that experience can be preserved by sliding out the little hdd brick more than likely, at least that's how the new 360s work, and the fat ones used to have that big side unit.

AHAHAHAHAAHAHAA HAHAHAHA aHAHAHAAHAHAhAha ahahaa aha ha haha AHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Tell me ano- oh shit your serious why would anyone

Looking at the wired article the HDD seems to be a standard 2.5" drive like the PS3, but whether it's replaceable or not: we don't know.
They are if you get a boxed copy that installs with steam, like Just Cause 2.
But they use CD Keys and CD Keys have been in use since the early 90s. No one went out and bought used PC games or went into Blockbuster to rent a PC game. That's why this is a completely different issue.
