I was on the PS4 side of things before the Xbox announcement...
I even stated that I don't know enough about either one to make a decision.
If at E3 Sony comes out and says something that catches my attention, I will probably get a PS3.
If Microsoft does the same thing, I might get an Xbox.
Don't be an idiot. Unlike you, I am not just openly hating on either console because I am a fanboy. I am an undecided console owner and I am waiting until all information is out about both consoles to make a decision.
So do you really want to make some more stupid, uneducated comments? Have at it.
I have an ecksbawks, I have a PS3. I like to think I'm neutral. I have no stake in any console war because I don't give a shit, whichever plays the best video games is the one I'll get, but it'll probably be PS4.
why?
I don't give a flying shit about Halo or Gears of War, and I've never been quite sure what the point of the xbox was originally. I only got it because most of the people I knew had one, and it made it easier to trade games for it. The Ps3 was my personal choice.
But I'm really confused. You say you're on the PS4 side before the xbox announcement, out of genuine curiosity what was the motivating factor to push you one way or the other
Last I looked at the new xbox's, there is no removable harddrive part without voiding warranty.
there's a little back panel next to the power cable that has a little button you can push, it pops off a hidden compartment with a small black brick about the size of a deck of cards IIRC, it has a little velcro tassle on it too so you can slide it out easily
it's arguably better than slamming that big brick against the side of your machine and praying you didn't bend the prongs
ZachPL, keep rating everyone dumb, it doesn't change the fact that you're wrong.
wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait
hold the fucking phone please
hold the phone
do you actually
have to pay for netflix on 360
because if so bWAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA
I set that shit up on my PS3 only so I would've never even have known, oh my god that's goddamn golden

yeah i agree it's dumb you have to pay for both XBL and Netflix to use it though
jesus fucking christ did I honestly forget about the hard drive thing
if it's anything like the 360, you can probably just detach your harddrive with the games on it and just use it on your friends box like you can with the 360
Thats if they have a suitable internet connection. Youre not getting it, the whole point of a console is mobility period. At my friend's house it was a pain in the ass to link my xbox online wise, unless i spent bunch of money for a wireless adapter.
you have to pay for gold AND THEN netflix?
AHAHAHAHAAHAHAA
HAHAHAHA
aHAHAHAAHAHAhAha

Well that's good
Lets hope that this exists with the Xbox One
however none of the pictures of it so far give me any hope of that.
Your account would be located on your hard drive, you just slide it into your friend's box and bam, account and games are right there for you
You will, but you have to pay Microsoft a fee to use it.
So I can play it but I can't "use" it?

Don't try and twist it
They make you pay to be able to use the internet through your console
They don't charge you for individual services, they just make sure you have to pay to use the internet you already pay for.
Wait, so will I or won't I be able to buy a used game and play it on the Xbox One?
Under the info we have so far, you'd have to pay to install a used game, yes.

YOU HAVE TO BE A GOLD MEMBER TO USE YOUTUBE
HOLY FUCK OH MY GOD
Why would anyone pay for gold though real talks
paying to play online
I ain't havin' that shit

How the fuck am I twisting it? They're making you pay to use YouTube. It's my Wifi, my bandwidth, what do they care?
Yeah don't get me wrong i disagree with some of the choices like having to pay for XBL, let alone paying for additional services with it.
I'm just saying, now with the whole hard drive idea back in my head this makes a whole lot of sense.

Pay for your internet then you pay for gold to use the internet
then you pay to see individual sites
I'm having a giggle m8
(ok yeah I'm just fucking with that one)

Pay to use the internet you already pay for and they still make you see ads out the ass
theres literally no actual use for gold aside from 'solid' DRM and the fact that they'll make a lot of money
not that you said its justified
Under the info we have so far, you'd have to pay to install a used game, yes.
which is what makes me believe we won't see a removable HDD that will enable get arounds for this.
Don't make another joke about how it's stupid to think Microsoft is greedy with this. They are. That's not really deniable. They charge you for a service that is loaded to the brim with more ads than you can actually deal with.
That's greed.
Suddenly, hard drive failure is a massive problem.
60$ a year so I can play Halo online and watch youtube in my living room
that's great if you hate money I guess
How the fuck am I twisting it? They're making you pay to use YouTube. It's my Wifi, my bandwidth, what do they care?
you're making it sound specific like they charge you for those services directly. they don't.
you're making it sound specific like they charge you for those services directly. they don't.
well, what a relief! Only 60$ in general for a service that you know, should be fucking free.
well, what a relief! Only 60$ in general for a service that you know, should be fucking free.
I don't disagree.
So I can play it but I can't "use" it?
"Use" as in play the game. You need to link it to your account now.

There's a difference between greedy and having horrible business practices though.
Regardless of how much you hate paying for XBL and all that (I do too don't worry), they do make a shitload of money off of it. Not allowing you to upgrade your harddrive without spending money for a new console/not allowing you to remove the harddrive for use in other consoles will drive off so many customers it's not even funny. If they change the way the hard drives work, they're effectively limiting the amount of games someone can have to what console version they bought, and that would be limiting the amount of money they could potentially earn.

Would it drive off customers? Everyone here says Xbox live charging you for your very internet would drive off users but it doesn't.

I agree 100%, XBL should be free. I'm gonna be very interested to see if they follow Sony in making their online service free though. While there's a slim chance, it still exists. Sony has proven that even with free online you can make a metric fucktonne of money on consoles.
Pretty crazy that in 2013 they want to sell us a 500GB hard drive that isn't replaceable, since that's fucking nothing given how big games are, and still want you to fully install the games to it.
I wish they would put in a 1TB drive, however, if they went with 500GB because of a reliability issue it makes sense.
But with current games only getting to a max of 12-15GB (I think... Oh jeeze, it's been a long time).
A 500GB harddrive can hold quite a few games.

If I could play every Halo on the PC I would have no reason to, but Microsoft knows Halo sells the Xbox.

I don't see Microsoft ever doing free multiplayer. It's a huge (and constant) flow of money for them right now.
Would it drive off customers? Everyone here says Xbox live charging you for your very internet would drive off users but it doesn't.
It's probably driven off a few, just it's a minority. I was going to buy one until I found out how much it costs and one of my friends got a PS3 instead because of the cost.
you're making it sound specific like they charge you for those services directly. they don't.
Alright so they require you to be a gold member for YouTube/Netflix/Crackle/Internet Explorer use on your console. Those are basic functions that should be free.
But of course you can access Zune Music without gold membership, conveniently a service Microsoft runs.
