she got banned because shes not as good as tonnetta
They've been slurs for a very long time now. Ignorance is just so widespread, intended or not, that a lot of people don't know they are. The accepted colloquial term is trans.
Really because I got chewed out in the Transgender megathread for calling someone a "trans", saying that that's offensive
Really because I got chewed out in the Transgender megathread for calling someone a "trans", saying that that's offensive
i doubt that's really the reason people wanted you to go away but w/e
I just read her statuses that got her banned. What the fuck people are so sensitive. I use tranny jokingly sometimes and even I'm transgender. The trans community seriously needs to lighten up.
So I can't say "Man, my car blew it's tranny at track-day this weekend. I ended up being the drag-queen, though" if I happen to be a lady with a car which has a broken transmission, but still manages to win the acceleration-focused racing?
That'd be a really queer way to put it
The trans community seriously needs to lighten up.
There seems to be a lot of infighting in the trans* community, even the FP thread gets locked a lot over drama and arguments. Sorta sad in a way, why can't we all be friends :c

Sorta sad in a way, why can't we all be friends :c
Well people in the trans community are basically going through a second puberty. They're either guzzling estrogen or testosterone so they're incredibly hormonal. Its not surprising. :v
I say we stop using words so we don't offend anyone.
We'll speak orkish. It's really quite easy, just angry grunting with the odd blown on the head for emphasis.
Well people in the trans community are basically going through a second puberty. They're either guzzling estrogen or testosterone so they're incredibly hormonal. Its not surprising. :v
Huh, never thought of it like that. Kinda makes sense.
I say we stop using words so we don't offend anyone.
silence triggers me though stop being so offensive also i dont see how "Shemale" is offensive but thats just me. "Tranny" is depending on context.
we live in the age of the offended
silence triggers me though stop being so offensive also i dont see how "Shemale" is offensive but thats just me. "Tranny" is depending on context.
because shemale implies you're not male or female but some random thing inbetween and is usually used in a context of "fuck you shemale" or anything similar. tranny is used in porn and is dehumanising for the same reason. [editline]18th April 2014[/editline] when you're doing your best to present as 100% female being called shemale is pretty disheartening.
it sucks to be called a female too whoa
except one is the name of a gender and the other is a slur thrown at people usually with some other form of abuse such as violence. are you even trying?
it sucks to be called a female too whoa
That's why they're womyn you cisgendered scum.
except one is the name of a gender and the other is a slur thrown at people usually with some other form of abuse such as violence. are you even trying?
I thought female and male defined sex not gender.
That's why they're womyn you cisgendered scum.
womyn is commonly what feminists who are actively trying to halt the rights of trans people call themselves. also known as terfs. please don't talk about things you don't have an understanding of. can we keep shitty xd cisscum!! memes out of this seeing as they have no place. [editline]18th April 2014[/editline]
I thought female and male defined sex not gender.
in modern society the words are interchangable at this point but yeah they do.
I don't like the idea of people "identifying" as something you are straight up not. Either you are straight, gay, or transgender male/female. But I guess if people identify as gay transgender hispanic dragonfly-kin amputees I gotta accept it or I'm exercising my white privilege too much
nobody in reality identifies as anything like that.
They always seem to end up in prison.

Why can't everyone be what they want without being treated like shit?
i came in expecting ignorance and im not really sure if i was expecting any better theyre still offensive terms and you shouldnt really use them since youre kinda in essence sending a signal that its okay to refer trans people as those terms, and i hate the bull rhetoric that people sprout that "oh it's just a word" well that word has a lot of negative history behind it look at it this way, im asian and its like if white people started calling me chink
i came in expecting ignorance and im not really sure if i was expecting any better theyre still offensive terms and you shouldnt really use them since youre kinda in essence sending a signal that its okay to refer trans people as those terms, and i hate the bull rhetoric that people sprout that "oh it's just a word" well that word has a lot of negative history behind it look at it this way, im asian and its like if white people started calling me chink
Or if I were called a spic or beaner, me being hispanic and the like.
They even referred to it as the "t-word" I mean come on nauuugh i wanted automerge
yeah what a bunch of tiggers
Or if I were called a spic or beaner, me being hispanic and the like.
people tend to forget that one person being okay with slurs directed against them =/= everybody of their ilk is okay with that i also feel you man, i live in a shitty mormon filled state with a bunch of tryhard stereotypical athlete boys that are overwhelmingly white and i get to hear attacks on my race all the time but i cant do anything about it because im the minority in the school
even if people did choose to identify as that (and they don't), how does it bother you? live and let live.
Because the people who do identify as that usually complain about not being taken seriously and generally act racist and sexist against anybody who isn't them see: the community of tumblr
people tend to forget that one person being okay with slurs directed against them =/= everybody of their ilk is okay with that
There is going far. Penalizing people who use their own slurs/offensive terms as words of pride is kind of obvious. Context also matters. Just look at that "Chink in Armor" headline issue.
There is going far. Penalizing people who use their own slurs/offensive terms as words of pride is kind of obvious. Context also matters. Just look at that "Chink in Armor" headline issue.
okay but i obviously too mean these words used as slurs against me, not otherwise
nobody in reality identifies as anything like that. seriously where do you people even get this kind of crap. some attention seeking teenagers on tumblr don't fucking count since they'll be whatever the crowd likes in a year or less.
Oh yes they do. These kinds of people are delusional and the "whatever" tumblr crowd isn't just a bunch of whiney teenagers, its the future of the feminist movement which is really a shame because they're ruining the reputation of feminism and liberalism. Remember that lady who denied all white and male applicants to the college she was working for as an admissions rep? Those people are real
