I suppose I'm one of the few folks who have only ever had "tranny" or "shemale" used in a derogatory fashion against them or other people, and would prefer to never have to hear/read those words again. :<

Yes, those people are real. You want to know how much of an effect they have on progress? Next to none. There are always assholes in large groups and movements, but they are the smallest minority.

Even if there were people trying to organize stuff like that for serious, their numbers would be so small their movement would be entirely ineffectual. I'd also like to point out that misogyny and transphobia have no equivalents in society - conceptually, maybe, but online and in person misandry and cisphobia are virtually nonexistent. Anybody saying things about how men or cis people suck are obviously joking or venting. It's amazing to see how flimsy a lot of allies' support is once the people they say they support make a few jokes or remind them that they have voices of their own. And, somehow, bigoted folks take these jokes as serious offences on par with murder, harassment and general oppression. Phi, I'd suggest focusing on bigger fish to fry. Feminism isn't going to be fucked up by people who express how tired they are of their oppressors.
