Back to the story though, I actually wonder why the guy shot him. If it was simply, "you are on my lawn!" that's murder. If it was, "this guy is on my lawn, and is trying to get into my house, and is refusing to step off my property" I could maybe understand that. The thing I have a problem with though, is if he wasn't able to get into the household, why the fuck would you confront him? If he busts down through your door, that's when you act to deal with it, but if you can keep your door secure, and call the Police, that should be what you do.
The police had already been called. He returned to the door with a gun and shot the old man who was now wondering around on his lawn or something.
