China has plenty of things like this.
Indeed, very 60's feel to the metallic top and general interior layout, the entire thing inside and out screams 'brutalism' by design, but with an odd touch of 70's in the exterior angles and the 80's in the stark, flat glass sides.
Then again, it was designed in the 80's and the facade wasn't built before 2008.
Finished or unfinished, that shit's going to be as empty as the day they started building it.
the inside fits the entire "hotel of doom" theme very well I've heard the elevator shafts are crooked.
For some reason the way the whole thing is built up reminds me a lot of the starcraft 2 nuclear silo (ghost academy).
And with a tasteful sprinkle of 90s, perhaps a smidgen of 20s with some infused 30s [editline]27th September 2012[/editline] Do I also detect as seasoning of 40s
hi I'm an artist who works in an architecture firm I'm really turned on right now
I think it looks like something you would expect to find on the Las Vegas strip. I love the design.
hi I'm an artist who works in an architecture firm I'm really turned on right now
you can firm my architecture any time
i think it looks like a POS

It looks so good, why does it have to be in a place where barely anyone will get to see it.
[t]http://ih.constantcontact.com/fs054/1102343542325/img/315.jpg[/t]
Those roads are looking pretty empty.
Those roads are looking pretty empty.
The entire city is empty, really. Well the apartment buildings are another story.
When conceived, the Ryugyong was intended to communicate to the world an impression of North Korea's burgeoning wealth.
Oh. Well no wonder it was halted for so long.
The entire city is empty, really. Well the apartment buildings are another story.
*Tenements
*Tenements
*mandatory workforce night storage units
The building looks amazing, but yeah like said before the real question is if it will actually be finished from the inside :v:
ITT we talk about how much we like or dislike a 25 year old communist skyscraper design.
I always thought the Glorious leader lived there.
In North Korea the 80s never ended
They barely even started.
It's really creepy that they have all these massive buildings unfinished and just sitting there. From the outside it looks really nice, but in all reality there is nothing going on. Its like all that other fake shit they set up for people to make it seem like NK is lively and happy.
It's not "like" that, it is that, have you ever seen the areas behind the DMZ on NK's side? They have big billboards of happy people and the buildings all look fantastic, the further you go back the more realistic it is. It's to try to get South Koreans to defect and come there. (lol)
'Built from the people, by the people'
It's funny how all the shitholes in the world have the most democratic sounding official names People's Republic of China Republic of China Democratic People's Republic of North Korea Lao People's Democratic Republic (Laos)
Actually the design doesn't look too bad...looks cool actually.
needs more starving north koreans

It's not like people would stay there anyway.
