Is there a video? I don't really get what happened
See those 3 columns rising in the OP? There were supposed to be 4, but one suffered a hydraulic failure and did not rise. Apparently that rendered the entire opening ceremony a "fucking disaster" in the eyes of some :geno: [editline]04:18AM[/editline] I have a feeling the engineer who worked on the lift system isn't getting a lot of sleep tonight though..
This is what happens when you let the Canadians host the Olympics. [editline]03:30AM[/editline] nah lol jk
This is what happens when you let the Canadians host the Olympics. [editline]03:30AM[/editline] nah lol jk
 We're improving. The first time 'round the stadium wasn't completed until 10 years after the Olympics had ended.
After seeing a devil playing fiddles then tapdancing, seeing a fucking giant polar bear, fucking whales, and other fucking amazing things, I could give less shit 4 pillars on fire fails. this isn't a failure at all, only a minor setback.

Only one thing bad about the ceremony in my opinion, the faggy kid doing the air ballet over the wheat field, that was a disgrace. This is only a minor problem
Only one thing bad about the ceremony in my opinion, the faggy kid doing the air ballet over the wheat field, that was a disgrace. This is only a minor problem
yeah, that was kinda dumb. the rest of it was pretty outstanding in my opinion... except that opera singer, she scares me. the badass fiddle players and tap dancers blew my mind
 We're improving. The first time 'round the stadium wasn't completed until 10 years after the Olympics had ended.
Wasn't it over budget and not structurally sound too?
it's pedobear's fault
yeah, that was kinda dumb. the rest of it was pretty outstanding in my opinion... except that opera singer, she scares me. the badass fiddle players and tap dancers blew my mind
Agreed, the fiddle part was the best part by-far.
I remember them saying they were really lucky that the opening thing for the Chinese Olympics went so well.
Well most of it wasn't real...
Well most of it wasn't real...
it still played out well, in spite of not being real.
It's hard for me to think "Damn shame about the dead dude. When does hockey start?"
You're a bad Canadian. I will cover various historical events from a Canadian's point of view: America is invading, when does hockey start? The FLQ is blowing up government installations, when does hockey start? A ship blew up levelling several blocks of Halifax! Are we still having hockey today? They just arrested a guy for a failed terror attack in Toronto that was supposed to make 9/11 look tiny, who cares, when does hockey start? A propane plant blew up in downtown Toronto sending a fireball sky-high, is the hockey rink okay?
What do you expect from us Canadian's We're not all that fancy
it still played out well, in spite of not being real.
I think he was refering to the CG fireworks etc. CG doesnt go wrong.
I didn't like this opening that much anyway. I'm not surprised something like this happened.
The pillars sent a bad message anyways, lighting cigarettes
Chance uses hydraulic failure! It is super effective! The 2010 Olympics is stunned! http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/olympics/news?slug=capress-oly_games_ceremonies_malfunction-2305114&prov=capress&type=lgns How on earth is this late? I posted this like 15 minutes after it happened.
Not only did you post the same news story, you made the exact same joke
Link please
The pillars sent a bad message anyways, lighting cigarettes
Have you noticed the similarities between the olympic torches and a joint at all? [editline]04:46PM[/editline]
