His next experiment will be on the migration patterns of the rare and mysterious spy crab.

Would be awesome, he should also test the results of mutliple ubercharges on a spycrab.
Hmmm... A professor, is universally despised by the game's antagonistic roles, can defeat mass groups of antagonists at one time, all with the least likely weapon available..... This 'Myers' guy is Gordon Freeman!
Wow, hordes of nerds failed to beat one university student in their own turf.
Professor.
Cool beans.
Could someone explain what he did in that zone?
I don't really get it.

He played the game the way it was met to be played and people got pissed that their social community network that they formed in a fucking PvP zone was ruined because someone decided to, "Play the game."

Socializing in a pvp zone and he teleported the villains to nearby strong monsters so they died?
I bet he had many laughs
Heh I wish I could have see him in action doing this.
Yeah, stupid pricks couldn't handle that someone was actually able to beat them, so they got pissed off. I would have gladly helped him.
He should study EVE online instead, we don't from social groups in 0.0 space (PVP space) that much i can tell you for sure :P

Then again you have to spend half your life on EVE to be remotely good on it. It's the most time-consuming MMO of them all.

Well, not exactly, spending 6 months to up some skills, No doubt, but in the mean time he can make everyone in CoH Rage with tears, win-win if you ask me
He was getting shit for killing people in a PVP area?
Sounds like they need to play a hardcore MMO like EVE
He sounds like me in AR and planetside

have you played air rivals
it took the number one player 3 years to get where he is grinding 24/7
I dont see how was that griefing, he did what game was about, not chatting what players did and that was griefing.
this is why mmos are for fags
I would tip my hat off for that honorable gentleman if met in real life.
Trolling an group of people in game is great, but whole damn gaming community?
That, if something, is Legendary
hardly a troll you deluded fools.
merely a player of the game - enjoying himself - it's not up to him for the other players to have fun.
That was a fantastic read and more than enough to keep me away from that game. Social cliques like that are just so sad. I wouldn't call that a troll at all though, it's just an experiment.
It's like getting ganked in WoW. Not many people do it, but it's in the games rules.
The issue was not so much that he was killing people in a PvP zone (FYI I play City of Heroes too and i've never seen people sitting around talking) as the fact that he was using incredibly cheap tactics to kill people in a way they couldn't fight back against.
Sure, it's 'legal' in game terms, but it's like camping the enemy's spawn with sticky bombs in TF2: you're not gonna make many friends doing it.

Well maybe they should put on a dress, PvP zone means Players will inevitably come fighting if you stick around, they shouldn't cry about the manner in which it gets done if it's well within the game mechanics and rules
So I looked into it, and it appears he was exploiting a crappy game mechanic to kill his enemies, and has since left City of Heroes because the devs nerfed his teleporty thing. So while his method was allowed, it was a giant dick move. Kind of like a "I'm not touching you, I'm just really close" type thing, and if he's surprised that people got pissed at him, I'd reply with a slap in the face.
You missed the whole point of the article however. He was playing by the rules (crappy game mechanic or not) and as you said he wasn't using a bug, he was using something legit. They even nerfed it because he was so awesome with it. Besides him using what you called a 'crappy game mechanic' he was trying to PvP and kill the Villains. For some retarded reasoning, the community finds this unacceptable. They soon began to try and kill him in numbers, failed to do so and began to nerdrage.
And thats only part of it. If you read the article you'd see he was mainly trying to describe the harsh words shared and how the communities behavior was quite 'scary'. If you saw people say that to you in real life, obviously you'd be left pretty dumbstruck. Of course I wasn't surprised at what they said to him, since that stuff is pretty norm on the internet.
I'm imagining these guys with guns shooting at guys on a wall.

He should have spammed chimneys in a Gmod server, that would have gotten much quicker results ... such as a permaban.
"Three out of 10 are women."
Now we know this study is flawed!
:golfclap:
Nice job.
Well yeah if you're a dick people will hate you.
I thought we already knew this.
He was just killing the opposing team, how is that being a dick to people? If I'm a CT and I kill a T in Counter-Strike, am I being a dick?
