imo do we really need this?
Something that can handle heavy-duty lifting of dangerous materials in delicate situations from a safe distance? Yes. Yes we do. Also 'in my opinion do we really need this?' makes no sense as a sentence.
Why hasn't the army outfitted it with cannons yet? Two M134s on that thing would be so awesome.
think of it this way strap that onto the top of a tank, outfit the arms with cannons and you have an improved aiming system for an anti-personnel small arms fire apc of some sort the possibilities are endless here
and yet we somehow built the pyramids
so since we've done impressive things in the past without technology, we shouldnt advance technology at all? i doubt you think alot, let alone understand any of the conversations going on here the mere fact you're using a computer is an advancement of technology in the field of communication. you're basically saying since we can yell REALLY high we dont need computers
apparently I'm the only one that listened to the end of the video where the guy said "This opens up a lot of jobs for women that would normally be closed to strength issues.... " hahaha

Sure; you could give it thick armor and cannons, but it'd be countered very easily even against an insurgent force. [editline]19th October 2011[/editline]
imo do we really need this?
Secondary industries would make great use of this.
and yet we somehow built the pyramids
The pyramids weren't on fire, weren't flooded, weren't engulfed in toxic smoke, weren't thoroughly irradiated, took years to construct, and required extreme amounts of labor. By your logic any motorized construction aid is unnecessary.

For an exaggerated example, watch the Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi to see armored walkers get owned by smaller forces
The stupid part was the fact that the operator had to stop controlling the arms to move. I would have done some sort of foot pedal system instead.
imo do we really need this?
YES. YES WE DO.
Oh the things japan would do with this I don't even want to know.
Oh the things japan would do with this I don't even want to know.
They don't need them. They've already basically created the exosuit from Aliens, and they use them to find earthquake survivors, though it is remote-operated. I might find a source later.

SON OF A FUCKING BITCH! I had literally just thought of this like an hour ago, before I started browsing Facepunch. I thought I would make millions, but those damn Mormons struck again. Apparently waking me up at seven in the fucking morning wasn't enough. Now they're in my head.
The actual fucking article compares it to that, why bring that up?
I only read the first line before posting that. :v: Then I saw the video and facepalmed.
