America is coming out of it, so should you.
Oh how you're so wrong.
Abandon hope for this country. To Canada!
America is coming out of it, so should you.
is this insta-job machine patented for america or something because we sure could use it
Makes me wonder what planet are they living on.
Makes me wonder what planet are they living on.
Planet 1950 where education is for good honest people and not paupers, niggers or queers.
is this insta-job machine patented for america or something because we sure could use it
Countries accross the world may be experiencing positive economic growth, but the job market always lags behind this.
This is ridiculous, I'm already going to be paying off a loan of £20,000+ by the time I finish University
This is ridiculous, I'm already going to be paying off a loan of £20,000+ by the time I finish University
But you already have your internet detective certificate, why do you need a degree too?
But you already have your internet detective certificate, why do you need a degree too?
As useless as a policing degree seems compared to internet detectivery certification, sometimes you've just got to prove you can actually do it, even if everyone already knows you can With regards to my former comment, the issue of this move is that the economy of countries like the UK is now based on high-skill, high-level work in terms of engineering, design, creative, economic know how; in essence we sell our skills, whereas a country that may be seen in the classic box of 'developing countries' would sell their goods and industrial output
This is totally hypocritical of them. It was probably alot cheaper for them to go to uni. They need to get with the times.
Social distillation...
they can suck my big fat sausage
Maybe I don't want to study over in England now.
I was amazed when i came to Norway, people were all "What, you have to pay for University?". High education here is free. What's more, in some cases the government will pay you to go to Uni... They will even lend you the money to live on if you need it. England is seriously lacking in terms of Education. The fees that Uni's charge appear to be unrealistic. Who wants to have 20-30k debt with them for the start of their "adult" life? How many years will you realistically take to pay that back? Especially now, in a recession when getting a job itself is difficult. The CBI and government are out of touch with the country... They really are. Oh, i would also like to point out though, with free education, even the most basic of jobs have the requirements of decent qualifications, namely on the College-equivalent level. In some cases here in Norway, barely skilled jobs are offered only to those with some form of degree. It makes getting a decent job a nightmare. So, free education could backfire...

I did want to go to Uni, however, I moved to Norway. The point is, i couldn't afford to go anyway. I had the grades needed, that part was a piece of cake. Honestly though, who the hell wants such a big loan hanging over them while they're just entering the world on their own. (For lack of better wording). Anyway, judging from your response "Too bad.." I'll come right out and guess that you just don't care about others?

I moved to Norway directly after college. I had no need to fill in the grant form, as my fellow students did. I am also aware that you can work while you're studying, most places will even work around your schedule should it be needed with just a kind word being needed in the interview. The bottom line is however, at the moment Education is too expensive and should not increase in price. People feel as though they are drowning in a sea of debt even before they've begun the 'serious' part of their lives. Now, take your superiority complex, dismember it, and leave it bleeding to death behind some dumpsters... You will make the world a better place. May i ask your age, and life experiences?
No you may not, you can go fuck yourself quite frankly.
Credibility --> Drain. I don't know who you are, but I'm fairly confident you do not like the debt you were put in if you did go through University. Now, if you had to do it again (or indeed do it in the first place) would you like to be in even more debt? Thought not.

The debt isn't such a problem that you have to pay it back instantly, but it'll still hang over you. However they assume you'll pay it back with the 50k salary you'll somehow have gathered with that shiny degree of yours. In reality most people with degree's seldom go anywhere near that or even find the job they were tailoring towards. Which is why it's bullshit that they're even thinking of raising it.
If I cared about debt I wouldn't be in uni right now enrolling for my second year.
Oh I see. You don't care about it. Others do, and it hangs over them, just as the user above this post pointed out.
Oh I see. You don't care about it. But he's been jobless for a pretty long time now, this is including before the recession was even announced. And don't forget the 30k+ debt he still has to pay with no income. It's absolutely ridiculous.
Who is this they that you're talk of, Labour isn't wanting to raise it, Lib Dems want fees abolished, Conservatives'll do whatever Labours doing but with different words, CBI has no control over Uni fees.
CBI has a member in the Monetary Policy Committee. They have influence over where money is supplied, and if they argue their point enough they can get it done. You can't just ignore the fact that it COULD happen.
Who is this they that you're talk of, Labour isn't wanting to raise it, Lib Dems want fees abolished, Conservatives'll do whatever Labours doing but with different words, CBI has no control over Uni fees.
Though if you think about it, it is a good point that they want them raised. As they have no control, other people start voicing their opinions on the subject, leading to discussion and of course, in some cases, protests/demonstrations. This of course gets noticed and governmental parties pledge that they'll eliminate/reduce fees. More of a good thing than i thought. What are you studying by the way?
In Ireland and Scotland uni is more or less free, why can't England and Wales have free education too?
Students in Ireland have to pay a registration fee which differs by course and collage. The local collage charges €1500 for the software development course. The fee is paid back if you're on the grant. Next year, students are going to have to pay for tuition fees which again differs by course and collage. We also don't have any student loan scheme here.
