The game was made to piss you people off, and you somehow managed to fall for it and whale into your keyboards like a13 year old girl on tumblr. It's a fucking dumb flash game that was made as a joke and was put up on greenlight more likely than not expecting to get downvoted to hell and collect some tears. Let me re-ittarate it's a fucking flash game not a fucking hate crime. Protest something less trite that maybe actually matters.
hang on let me put up my new bestseller "KILL THE N*GGERS" it's alright because it's just to piss people off
Why just why
Honestly what appalled me the most about this is the fact it's worse than a flash game Missed opportunity in my opinion, imagine the shitstorm if this was at the same level of quality as hatred
Honestly what appalled me the most about this is the fact it's worse than a flash game Missed opportunity in my opinion, imagine the shitstorm if this was at the same level of quality as hatred
Not many would put that much work into trying to piss people off.
See, I'm not against the use of the word "faggot" (except in this instance) and Louis CK explains why perfectly:

I'm a product of the time period I grew up in (born in 1987, so the 90's). Us kids used to call each other faggots as insults in grade 7/8 and high school. We never called any gay kids faggots because we were raised better than that. This game however is just using the term to be offensive and shocking. If the game didn't feature stereotypes of gay people (or didn't feature gay people at all) and was a normal shoot-em-up with a "shock humor" name, I'd be ok with it being called "Kill the Faggot". EDIT: Also, there's the context to take into account. Again, this game uses it in a negative context because of the featured gay stereotypes that you shoot.

And finally, I'm gonna quote Burre.png from the Find the worst Steam profile thread. He's talking about the term "retard" and the backlash towards Jontron when he said it (I stated a similar thing about when I grew up, we called other kids "retards", but we never called handicapped kids retards):
The reason people don't like it when other people use those term along with a few others is because most of society has become a huge snowflake of false racial discrimination, unneeded political correctness, and general dumbassery.

Ease up, it was just a game about murdering the LGBTQ in a time where plenty of people legitimately hate the LGBTQ.
You remind me of that one article about people getting pissed off about a game where you had to shoot rapists before they dingle-dangled your butthole. Because it was homophobic. [editline]13th May 2015[/editline] Also as someone who has experienced homophobic bullying before and been excluded by peers for liking dudes I can say it doesn't matter how progressive or regressive as a society we are, it was a fucking flash game, no one is going to look at it and go: "Gee I sure do feel like grabbing the lads and finding some faggot to curb stomp now because of this hyper realistic game I played."
See, I'm not against the use of the word "faggot" (except in this instance) and Louis CK explains why perfectly
gee, for a moment there, i almost thought people didn't get to choose what offends them. good thing i have louis ck and you to tell me that when gay people give me weird looks for calling people fags, it's actually their fault! like geez, just stop being offended by this historically homophobic slur, am i right?
gee, for a moment there, i almost thought people didn't get to choose what offends them. good thing i have louis ck and you to tell me that when gay people give me weird looks for calling people fags, it's actually their fault! like geez, just stop being offended by this historically homophobic slur, am i right?
God damn people how hard is it to not blame the targets of slurs for being uncomfortable/angry that they're being called slurs?? It's the people who USE them that're at fault, since said people are unempathetic and generally just shitty people for holding harmful opinions. People have been beaten up, killed, and kicked out of their homes while being called "fags" but no lets blame the targets for being so offended and upset when words used almost SOLELY in a context of hate and disgust are used to describe them.

Honestly the amount if discussion that people are getting from this shows that it was successful. It was clearly created to raise controversy and get people talking and it worked. It's so blatantly offensive and unsubtle that anyone who takes anything this game does seriously is just looking to be annoyed, and the fact it looks like it was made in a week shows that the creators weren't even ready to put effort into this, and people still fell for it. If everyone had just let this pass it would have been removed anyway and we'd have got on with our lives, but people saw it, probably didn't play it, and started bashing on it. I'm not saying what they did was right, but it was crude and no real damage was done to people of any gender or sex, because anyone who takes it seriously is not worth listening to. People need to realise that giving something attention makes it stronger, it spreads the message and makes more people aware of it, like they say, any publicity is good publicity. People need ot think logically before jumping on a hate bandwagon, because with something like this all you can ever do is make it stronger, no matter home many Tumblr Notes or Retweets you get.
at least they included trans in the full game instead of making it a post-release DLC

People are really getting worked up over this game. It's extremely tasteless, yes, but just like the games Super Columbine Massacre RPG you just take it for what it is; a tasteless game you don't have to play.

They then backpedaled and claimed that it is a minigame in a larger game. By trying to release it in this form they practically destroyed their credibility, and possibly jeopardizing their main games ability to go on steam.

Not all publicity is good publicity.

They will either be successful or float away into obscurity. Even for just a minigame it wasn't done well at all. Look at hatred, it actually has playable and entertaining qualities about; such as the physics, quality of effects and graphics. It's no different than GTA which serves as more of a game to cause wanton destruction for sheer entertainment. Granted some people might have their murder boners strikes, but honestly, most people will play it just to fuck around with the fun physics. This is no different than the countless offensive flashgames floating about the internet that go unnoticed or cause a bit of a chuckle due to how juvenile they are.
"Kill the faggot" in pretty much any other context would be obvious homophobic hate speech. Why would it suddenly get a pass if it's in video game form?
hate speech where? In USA it wouldnt be considered hate speech at all, especially because its context is in a video game(as opposed to being on the street going up to people "KILL ALL FAGS") The latter is also legal here and happens, and the devs are from America iirc. So this isnt hate speech at all. Its just tasteless, lazy, garbage.
why do you people INSIST on using louis CK, a fucking comedian, as an example whenever you can because what he says is part of his comedy routine and shouldn't really be used as a valid argument ever
He also has a really good opening to one of his episodes in which he explains why he's fundamentally wrong in his argument for saying the word "faggot". He explains both sides and understands both sides.

This looks like a much worse version of fag hunter from a week in paradise.
Cool so it's fine to make bigoted stuff as long as people don't decide to recreate american history x because of it?
Its fine to actually make absolutely anything in an artform, regardless of how low brow. Do you have any argument against freedom of speech/expression when it involves stuff like this other than "Its mean though! Think of my fleeting feelings!"?
Do you agree or disagree that this is hate speech?
I disagree that this is hate speech, I don't think it's necessarily artistic as I wouldn't call everyone Newgrounds flash narutou hentai dating sim made by a 13 year old art. I believe it is however free speech, and regardless of any content found within the game, I will defend it as free speech, That doesn't mean I think that this should've gone on greenlight, If you really don't like living in a country with free speech go move to sweden where no one's allowed to hurt your feelings. [editline]14th May 2015[/editline] And to add to that, You're taking this out of context, the game at best is a social criticism of the "my feelings are hurt, give me a hug or I'll sue culture."
I don't see how there would be any other scenario of naming a game "Kill the Faggot" without at least alluding it to the killing of homosexuals.
It could be a game about killing Osama Bin Laden called "Kill the Faggot". It'd be a huge hit in the U.S.
He also has a really good opening to one of his episodes in which he explains why he's fundamentally wrong in his argument for saying the word "faggot". He explains both sides and understands both sides.
And I understand both sides as well. I see my prior post got hit by a mountain of boxes. Think it dumb all you want, but it's the truth. Kids call each other names like retard and faggot. Heck, even friends call each other those names. We just had enough sense to not use those words around gay people/handicapped people. It's like if your grandparents use racist terms. They're a product of their generation. While wrong, it was normal back then. It was wrong then, wrong now, but it was the cultural norm back then. Back in my high school days, we called each other faggots and retards. Heck, we even called this one kid who used to work out in the school garden "Chickenfucker" because there were two chickens that lived out in the garden and he spent all his free time tending to the garden [sp](the implication being that he was sticking his dick in the chickens)[/sp]. It was wrong to use those words, but we didn't know any better.
I agree with Louis CK. The point u was trying to make us that you can't day those words don't mean anything to others. It's something to be careful with. Honestly, I'd say this is more of a marketing stunt than anything. Barely anyone knows of the game before, and it gets pulled for being legitimately offensive and low quality. Now, people know of the game, and some people are calling for Valve's head on a pike because they're "censoring developers." If it probably gains enough traction (which it will if 8chan /v/ puts enough manpower behind it), it'll probably be put back on Greenlight like what happened with Hatred (even though Hatred at least has some effort behind it). It's almost like people don't want Valve to have any form of QA when it comes to Steam because they think it's "censorship", which is funny, because a lot of these people are also complaining about how shitty Greenlight is as a platform because it has a lot of shit on it. What I really don't get is the point of joke submissions though. A lot of these people putting up shitty joke submissions are paying $100 just to tell a shitty joke that's already been told before. Do these people really have that much of a disposable income? If they're children, do their parents not really care that their children are spending $100 to do shit like this?
