Facts -The school called the police to stop jaywalking -That exact location has been an area of interest due to 3 different shootings in the past month -Jaywalking is still illegal and punishable by arrest. -Bratty Teen no.1 resists arrest, then her* cousin intervenes and attacks the officer (Both have priors for assaulting officers of the law). -The Cop worked well within his rights as an officer of the law, everything including the punch was absolutely textbook.

Everyone bitching about Jay walking, it's not just that. Jay walking when you're way in between 2 sidewalks is acceptable, but she wasn't, she was 15 feet away from one. I don't think you understand how little that is. Lay down, 3 times from head to toe. That's about how far away she was from it. Yet, instead of waiting for the light, she walks across regardless. It shows a disgusting lack of respect for authority.

He can't just "let it go" if they start to resist, what kind of message does that portray to the people? "Oh it's alright, just try and escape and the cops will give up" I don't fucking think so. For everyone who thinks it's wrong to punch a girl, fuck you. If you don't want to get hurt, don't try and help someone resist arrest. The fact that she is a girl is not even relevant here. All this talk about equality and you think women are above the law? Get the fuck out of here. As for the "are you serious??" guy, what a dickhead. What does he expect? The cop couldn't just struggle against them both constantly, it's hard enough to restrain someone let alone with someone trying to stop you. Finally, for everyone saying about how long it took him to restrain her, restraining anyone who is determined to escape is extremely difficult without using force. I'm sure he could deck her easily, or hold her still, but getting cuffs on is hard. In fact I respect America (I'm from the UK) for it's "take no shit" way of working.

I don't get why the Officer didn't have a partner, I always assumed it was a law or something to have two officers together. Being on your own as a Police Officer in a situation like that just seems dangerous.
