was going to say that myself.
I hope they use it for something good.
i hate that this has to be news, now a bunch of rampant internet posters are going to call disney the devil for doing something any major company would've done in their place.
Well it makes sense, her death is going to disrupt the filming which will likely cost them money. It's not heartless it's just sensible.
On the one hand I hate to see a transaction this cold going on so soon after someone's death.
On the other, I mean, I wouldn't say no to 50 million :v:
How much did they pay to insure?
Some of you guys have weird thinking. Disney insured her to protect themselves against the loss of her services in Star Wars movies. They have now. due to her death, lost her services in Star Wars movies. So they collect.
Why do they need to donate any money to any cause or 'respecting her memory'? It'd be like if some guy dies and his widow collects on the life insurance and his family and friends tell her she must use some of that money to honor his memory.
I'm not mad at the idea of insurance like this. I just hope someone's death doesn't line the pocket of some suit.
It's not like the purpose of the insurance is profit.
Another thing of note is that studios will frequently pay an actor in full or partially when they sign on as a part of their contract.
disney could found a carrie fisher scholarship fund or something possibly for aspiring female screenplay/script writers in college.
shes a ridiculously funny and helpful girl in the industry so it would make sense
