This is why I only stop to help "stranded motorists" if I'm transporting a firearm and have at least one other person with me. I find it's best to call for help, on behalf of the person/s stuck on the side of the road, rather than stop yourself. Keep driving and let cops know about that stranded person. When you get right down to it, someone on the side of the road is a hitchhiker, whether they are standing next to a broken down car or not. I don't stop for hitchhikers.
