Chik-Fil-a is pretty damn good, you all will likely enjoy it. Those of you in this thread bitching about KFC, come to actual Kentucky. It's literally better, I've ate at plenty of KFC's out of state and it's just not nearly as good. I know that sounds odd, but it's like we get better chicken where YUM! Foods is based here.

Yeah, I see tons of Tim Hortons in New York state. I never knew some other states didn't have them.

You think KFC is better in kentucky, you should come try Popeye's down here in Louisiana. We have rehab programs to get people off of Popeyes. Give me their fries, biscuits, and mashed potatoes and I will eat myself into a coma....
Fun fact: the closed on Sunday thing has nothing to do with christianity. It's because when the brothers opened the first restaurant, they worked everyday all day and were so tired that they took the sunday off.
Chik Fil A sandwiches are really good, but that's not why I like them so much. Chik fil a was the best possible place to have a job as a teenager. It was awesome, I had a really kick ass manager who was basically the chillest dude i've ever met. All I ever heard from my friends was endless bitching about their jobs, while I never really had anything bad to say.
chik fil a was an awesome place to work.
I can second this. I worked there for about a year and half and thoroughly enjoyed both the management staff and my co-employees. They gave us free meals every shift, a very flexible schedule, and massive amounts of mobility for a fast food restaurant.
Also, Chick-Fil-A does franchising completely different than the average chain. It only costs about $5,000 to own a franchise, but they are ridiculously choosy with who gets one.

It's both: http://www.chick-fil-a.com/Company/Highlights-Sunday
If they hadn't been Christian, then Sunday wouldn't have been special in any way.
Completely serious question, not setting up a cheap joke or anything.
The guy at the top is well-known for his outspoken social views, but is there any sort of word from above on the inside? Everyone loves or hates Chick-fil-A over the guy's views, but I'm curious about internal corporate messaging.
I worked at one for three years and never heard anything political out of my managers. Honestly the only time I even heard anything official regarding Christianity was at a fancy commemoration right before my store's grand opening, they had a pastor give a short speech.
That said, most of the people who worked there were very Christian, myself included. We had a youth pastor working there for about a year and even had a (voluntary) bible study for a while.
I don't understand what the religious associations of the owner has to do with this, Chickfila is delicious and you guys are missing out if you didn't have them.
in an ideal world, the only opinion that chick fil a would have is "our chicken is good and you should eat it".
allowing corporations to have a financially-backed voice on political issues undermines democratic thought by creating bastions of power and money that may only represent a small group of people (specifically those running the corporation) despite having thousands of employees.
it gives differential amounts of influence to groups of people who already had more than enough political efficacy to begin with.
is it better than popeyes
popeyes is great
i wouldn't personally spend money at chik-fil-a but i have no problem if someone else buys me their food
Are you that cheap or what.
can this fast food chain come to denmark and replace mcdonalds and burger king please. both is shit food
I have an aunt and uncle who are freakin' obsessed with Chick-Fil-A. Like seriously, every time they visit they bring a huge platter of chicken from there, even if they know we've already prepared something.

You're not missing out on much. It's good but at the end of the day it's still just fast food.
is it better than popeyes
popeyes is great
I don't think so. It's close, but I think popeyes has better sides than chik-fil-a.
Their food is take it or leave it but their milkshakes are the best out of any national chain I've had.
Though there's 3 better local restaurants around the corner from the one closest to me so...
I think, with the rise of Halal, we need Christal approved, where the food has not been sacrificed to a idol or god. In the christian faith it's actually a teaching that Christians are not allowed to eat food sacrificed to idols or gods.

I don't care if it's been sacrificed to the great chtulu, if it's good, I'm going to eat it.
Chicken is like the easiest to make
Fucking awesome chicken, awesome sauce, and some of the best customer service when it comes to fast food. When it comes to politics and who they fund, I don't care anymore. We've all funded worse companies without ever realizing it.

Eh, not really.
I'd say it's more or less managed similarly to any other fast food restaurant in terms of that. They don't discriminate in who they hire in terms of sexual orientation, but then again hiring is done by the individual franchised restaurants, so your mileage may vary. There are a higher concentration of Christians working there, but it's not like you have to be a Christian to be hires, I know for a fact one of my managers is not. But I mean you can definitely tell it's a Christian company, Bible verses are posted on the back of the door separating the kitchen and front counter, and a lot of employees go to bible studies together every Sunday. We cater to local churches a lot, occasionally for free.
The people there are really nice though. Almost no one cones to work in a bad mood and the managers are really chill, they're not gonna flip out on you, which I'm really happy about because I've heard countless horror stories about bad managers from a lot of my friends. The owner is a bit overbearing sometimes though, he can be really anal about certain things, but I mean he's nice about it at least. He always calls me by my ACT score once he learned I scored a 35, though, so I mean that's kind of annoying. I'd recommend it as a great place to work for anybody though. Frequent raises, really really flexible hours. No complaints here.
But once again, franchasied restaurants, so your mileage may vary. I'd say that the individual restaurants are independent enough to the point that if you're boycotting CFA just because of the guy on the top, not worth it in my opinion. CFA does a lot of community outreach (at least mine does), and we give away a ton of stuff for free, it always kind of makes me sad every time someone says they hate CFA just because of some old guy at the top, but if it's something you feel strongly about I can understand. And I thought CFA said they stopped giving money to anti gay charities, but I may be wrong.
Fantastic food too. Half price whenever I want? YES PLEASE.
i think part of the reason for the high proportion of christians is because they sponsor events and festivals marketed toward christians.
i used to go to a christian music festival with my family and chick fil a was plastered all over it. they get lots of publicity that way.
smart marketing tactic, i'd say.

As a Canadian living in a community that is, as of the latest census, 51% atheist, I don't know how common that is down there. :v:

So you're saying a company is using it's money to lobby their interest? What a genius idea!
Why are you saying this like it justifies it
I guess I should elaborate a bit.
Yes, it's no surprise that a company would lobby their interests. However, when those interests is actively trying to oppress demographics, I'm not okay with that. Yes, it's their money and they're going to use it to lobby their interests, but I'm not going to support any business where those interests are harmful to the population.

Thank you for providing your explanation. I'm glad we could clarify our points.

Many franchises near me only hire people who they think are christian. And many have gotten a ton of shitty press due to it. And then people claim it's freedom of religion...
is it better than popeyes

Popeyes and Chic-fil-a are different genres of chicken. I love both.
