it's not like they're going to paint them as heinous criminals for taking it.
Though the thief should because he kinda was.
The Court said "Return the slab!"
The guy said "What's your offer!?"
The court replied " Return the slab or go to jail!"
Miss that show so damn much. :D I think the artifact should be returned. The war ended a long time ago, and many people would likely be interested in seeing it again.
that's fucking retarded and you've never been to the South if that's what you think. I haven't been there either, but at least I'm not accusing them of supporting slavery without knowing what it's like.
Complete with Eagles crying and alla'that. Every southern citizen has a user on there attached to their social security number! (NO!)
But really, the south is where stupidity is a great virtue. The more you can ignore factual evidence and just repeat what your father spits out (directly from his father) without knowing/realizing the reasoning process behind it, the more you win! I wish you guys had more hipsters to break the trend.
Did i win at hilariously extreme generalizations yet? Can we just calm down and just promise each other to not vote republican on any grounds related to the Bible or ethics? Because they aren't either, really.
This shit does belong in a museum.
Put it up against any sob story you will, that's the truth of the matter.
I agree that it belongs in a museum, but you don't think it's a little insensitive/flippant to call an Auschwitz survival story a sob story?
But they could have demand money or compensation perhaps?
The Court said "Return the slab!"

The guy said "I DON'T WANT ANY!"
But they could have demand money or compensation perhaps?
The museum or the family?
The family has no claim and the slab is probably in the reigns of "unpriceable"
One thing to ask is, how the hell did this guy get the thing to begin with.
Auschwitz was in Poland, and this museum was in Germany.
Germany shipped jews from all over the Third Reich to Auschwitz. Its not like there was 1 million jews just sitting around near Auschwitz to begin with. I'm assuming he was put on a train, shipped there and he got lucky enough to survive.
Implying the holocaust was real
But they could have demand money or compensation perhaps?
Ah yes, the museum has to pay money to get back what was stolen from them. Durr. Would you be ok with buying back your stolen tv? Probably not.

Not just the third reich. From pretty much all territory in Europe.
Well they can go visit it in the museum can't they.
This. The museum could even end the debate by giving the family free tickets to the museum for life, so they can go back and see it whenever they want.
Guys stop posting Indy, he hates Nazi's.
Well, I was kinda implying this specific region here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confederate_States_of_America) where the people still support the idea of slavery to this day.
You do know slaves were freed in the south before the slaves were freed in the north, right? Abolition, voluntary or otherwise, began in the south as early as 1863 and was finished by June of 1865, whereas in the north, abolition didn't happen until nearly 1866. So why bash the south?
No one here supports the idea of slavery. Well, I'll reckon there's the typical fringe people and crackpots that believe in it, but no reasonable person is going to tell you that they truly believe slavery is a thing that should happen in this day and age. However, your statement may very well be true, but your presentation is deceitful. I would be willing to wager that in every corner of the globe you can find at least two persons (the lower limit defined by your use of 'people') that support the idea of slavery. While you're not saying anything that isn't most likely true, your emphasis on it being in this part of the world is unnecessary and suggests that you wish to imply that this is the only part of the world where people have this belief.
You really should stop letting TV, movies, and the rest of the media shape the way you view your world. Take a step back and look at how powerful they are. To the masses, they control how our people percieve the world around them. Hell, because of TV, you probably believe that we live in stick houses, every man woman and child owns a gun, and that we don't have electricity. 'Tain't so. Well, I guess the part where a good few of us still ride horses is. I get stuck behind a horse on the way to town with frequency... Enough to mention it, at least.
Tell those goose steppers to fuck off and sell it to a real museum for an exorbitant fee!
Fuck, Assyrian? They should have donated it immediately after learning what it is, it never should have not been in a museum.
I agree that it belongs in a museum, but you don't think it's a little insensitive/flippant to call an Auschwitz survival story a sob story?
Of course Auschwitz is more than a sob story. I said that because you could strap any hardship against the item and the net result would be the same.
To be honest, I don't see how the fact he's a holocaust survivor is even relevant. I mean, remove that from the story, and what do you have?
"Jew in WW2 Berlin loots a 3200 year old Iraqi golden tablet"
add the holocaust:
"Jew, who suffered through some of the most vile and heinous war crimes in human history, looted a 3200 year old golden iraqi tablet in WW2 Berlin."
Its only there to make the reader attribute false rights to the family.
