I think it's stupid to criticize Apple too much for that. They're playing by the rules -- it's the rules that need to change. You can't set up a system with obvious flaws and then get sad when companies don't 'play fair'. Hate the game, not the player.
I hate both. Common courtesy, Don't be a dick even though it's technically legal.
in a capitalist system being a dick is synonymous with success just look at Microsoft, they dicked their way to the top
The bias in the source, dear god.
The bad soviet russia joke just writes itself.
The pieces are all coming together now. The capitalist pig company apple will fall.
I'm in China right now, I should go pick up one of these GooPhones!
I'm in China right now, I should go pick up one of these GooPhones!
You should get it as a souvenir. Then get the real version, and frame them together (a picture, not both of them stuck to a wall. You still want to use one at least!). Then, the caption, "The difference between the Chinese and the rest of the world, is that the word 'Copyright' doesn't translate very well into Mandarin." (Top gear quote)
The bias in the source, dear god.
Gizmodo has been butthurt ever since Apple banned them from all official events because they leaked the iPhone 4. So naturally Gizmodo took the mature route and blogspams anything that then can spin negatively about Apple.
I hope the ripoff company will win. Would be hilarious!
I suspect that would set a dangerous precedent.
I suspect that would set a dangerous precedent.
Like what? that the Patent system needs a SERIOUS overhaul? Because that can only be a good thing.
Like what? that the Patent system needs a SERIOUS overhaul? Because that can only be a good thing.
Get rid of software patents and small-scale patent troll specialists, done. I think. Then again that would allow rip-offs--oh wait Apple, Microsoft, and companies like the one in the article have already done that.
yeah patents vary http://www.google.com/patents?id=-i0DAAAAEBAJ&printsec=abstract#v=onepage&q&f=false you know what that is a patent for?? a loop on a swimsuit. http://www.google.com/patents?id=JrbfAQAAEBAJ&printsec=abstract#v=onepage&q&f=false that's a patent for "google-like search". http://www.google.com/patents?id=Yc0QAgAAEBAJ&printsec=abstract#v=onepage&q&f=false here's samsung patenting the shape of a speaker??? http://www.google.com/patents?id=n7WxAAAAEBAJ&printsec=abstract#v=onepage&q&f=false here's Apple patenting some shit that i don't even fucking know
There are patents for goofy and or slightly annoying stuff. And then there are patents for rounded rectangles and pinch to zoom.
I suspect all Apple'll do is turn around and tell China sorry but you don't get the iPhone 5 now have fun importing it.
And China would go "alright, we are sorry, we won't manufacture your iPhones anymore, have fun outsourcing to somewhere else".
Why does everyone pull pinch-to-zoom out as this outrageous tale of patenting gone mad? It's a fucking awesome feature and if you came up with it you'd want to make it yours. I didn't hear about it until it was on Macbooks' trackpads ages ago. - I hope this phone company is successful in suing though. If you want to copy Apple, you have to copy their business sense too. [editline]7th September 2012[/editline]
And China would go "alright, we are sorry, we won't manufacture your iPhones anymore, have fun outsourcing to somewhere else".
Yeah except when Google says "if you censor, you can't use our websites", China doesn't close down all Android factories.
Goophone 4GS Phone Retina Screen 5MP Camera: Don't support 3G network
Lol, what? I love these clones, not even close to the older iPhone models, but still cheaper I guess.
Like what? that the Patent system needs a SERIOUS overhaul? Because that can only be a good thing.
That is obvious though. But that's what I worry right here. Things will just continue, drastic and desperately needed change will not happen. Anyone can see that the current patent system is broken, but it seems to need the right person in the right place to fix it.
So if I spraypaint a green X on a cardboard box, can I sue Microsoft?
China's copyright enforcement is a joke. Literally. It is a nonexistent idea that people laugh at.
So if I spraypaint a green X on a cardboard box, can I sue Microsoft?
That doesn't even make sense... They would be able to sue you since they had it first?
So if I spraypaint a green X on a cardboard box, can I sue Microsoft?
That would only work if you'd steal a prototype next-gen Xbox and make a fake but similar version of it and announce/release it before they did.
I hope this phone company is successful in suing though. If you want to copy Apple, you have to copy their business sense too.
actually, that's really bad because that shows that anyone can fake a product and sue the real creators.
actually, that's really bad because that shows that anyone can fake a product and sue the real creators.
But nobody cares in this case because it's Apple.
actually, that's really bad because that shows that anyone can fake a product and sue the real creators.
Which means the system that allows that has to be changed instead of trusting businesses to play nice and keep their promises (hint: they won't). So yes, it's good if this goes through since it might help in changing this completely broken system.
But nobody cares in this case because it's Apple.
I wish apple would get their fuck sued out of them but it has to be legit otherwise they could do this to Steam as well, even though this wouldn't ACTUALLY hold up in court then again gabe would just assassinate their lawyers with his knives [editline]9th September 2012[/editline]
Which means the system that allows that has to be changed instead of trusting businesses to play nice and keep their promises (hint: they won't). It's a rectangle, therefore suit.
