Geforce experience was always trash anyways, the only reason to use it would be shadowplay.
Not even that. Shadowplay has always ran better when used through a program like OBS.
honestly who cares everyone should have an NVidia or google or facebook account by now anyway.
honestly who cares everyone should have an NVidia or google or facebook account by now anyway.
Because it's yet another account to have a password breach on.
honestly who cares everyone should have an NVidia or google or facebook account by now anyway.
But why.
Why is an account needed? What technical reason is there?
Because it's yet another account to have a password breach on.
Except it isn't of you login with Google?
honestly who cares everyone should have an NVidia or google or facebook account by now anyway.
Because it's forceful trash. They shouldn't require you to login to access shit like shadowplay.
lets not forget they also broke directx9 shader backwards compatability. so they broke fallout new vegas and you can only play if you rollback to july.
They'll probably fix it eventually.
An update a couple of months ago broke F.E.A.R.'s lighting and upon googling it, all I had to do to fix it was install the next version of drivers that had come out a week after they broke it but I hadn't bothered updating because it was a "game ready driver" for games I didn't own.

Their program, their rules. Use OBS if having to take 40 seconds to make an account is really that much of an issue for you.

what's even the point of saying that
Because it's yet another account to have a password breach on.
So don't use the same password as anywhere else?

Mainly that there's plenty of alternatives and that Shadowplay isn't your only option
[editline]a[/editline]
It's not a Steam situation where you don't really have any alternatives.

I meant the bolded part.
And while the password thing works for him, a lot of random people using this will choose the NVIDIA account option, and will reuse the same password, because of how users are. I will say that it is very good that NVIDIA allows google/facebook login to avoid this issue for some people, because many will just choose that as well.
I can understand just not caring about it, but actively trying to defend it?
That's just non-nonsensical, to me. Is there even a single concrete benefit to the users for having to do this?

My guess is that NVIDIA wants to get people to use the social features of the program that most people just ignored.
I meant the bolded part.
So did I.
Let me rephrase: they developed it, it's within their rights to require a login if you want to use their program. It's the same as when other companies require a license key even though they're free, which is often the case for programs that have an "express" edition. It's not out of the ordinary for shit like this to exist, and I don't see why it's such a massive problem whenever you can just
use OBS
which is iirc a better program with more features, it's just not integrated into a get-drivers-and-optimize-games app like Shadowplay is.
I'm saying that it's kind of meaningless to say that. It's said quite often in threads where some company does something ~naughty~. Of course they can do what they want. But it doesn't mean people can't get mad and criticize them.

I'm less defending it and more just not understanding why everyone's flipping their shit over something that's so incredibly small. Like, I'll estimate logging in is going to take up maybe two minutes of my life total, because the only time I'll ever see that Experience login screen is whenever I'm installing drivers and updates on a fresh install of an OS.

I guess that's a fair point, but it really seems like everyone's having a massive overreaction to it as if they've commited some unspeakable crime.
And now I realize I've uninstalled geforce experience multiple times before, why do I still have it. I haven't even installed it, and pretty sure I always ticked off everything else during the driver updates.
it uninstalled itself and then crashed :goodjob:
Shadowplay is pretty nice, but OBS does the same thing without being part of a bloated piece of garbage.
I didn't realize I could use OBS instead of shadow play. Will it work with my SLI config? If so, I'll jump over to it as soon as I can. GFE is so damn annoying.
"THEIR STUFF THEIR RULES LOL THAT MAKES THEM IMMUNE TO CRITICISMS!!!"
I like 3.0 because it opens twice as fast as the previous version, and it fixed a Share-related bug I posted on their forums and was later contacted by a dev to give more info about.
Also you can just login with a google account, which also lets you record, trim and upload videos to youtube without even leaving the game, so I really don't see the issue
I really wish there was a better option than shadowplay that supported multiple PTT keys, saving to two or more audio tracks etc. but OBS Studio doesn't have shadow capture, regular OBS lacks other stuff, and neither are as convenient as shadowplay (turns on when pc is turned on, literally always running, can't accidentally close the window).

I was playing fonv a few days ago

Because there's zero reason to FORCE an end-user to submit to marketing bullshit to use their UTILITY software, no positive precedent other than their marketing department.
Wan't cool when Ubisoft did it, wasn't cool when MS did it, it's not cool now.
Once I purchase your hardware, what I do with it is my business. I didn't buy the nvidia service package, I bought a graphics card.
Oh my fucking god, no. I just had to uninstall the beta and get the latest stable because the login doesn't work and the official answer to that problem was "Lol dunno good luck."
If I still can't login then fuck them.
Update: I STILL CANNOT LOGIN. It just says "Try again later."
Why is giving your email to Nvidia or your google/facebook/twitter access info to Nvidia a bad thing? I mean, all it is, is your email, not like there asking you for your age, or your birthday, or your address or your state or country, like some people do.

If you've got someone's email address, it's possible to find out those things if you've also used that email address on social media accounts for example.
If you haven't done that, someone can also sign up your email address for annoying spam.
Worst case scenario, someone may be able to breach your email account and get access to all sorts of service that use a "forgot my pw, please send me a reset link" function. Obviously they'd still need your password (unless it's so weak it can be bruteforced or you've been breached before and reused that unsafe password for some reason) and get through any 2auth barriers.
Now all of these are fairly unlikely scenarios (spam annoyance being the most likely), but I think the important thing here is that this feature doesn't offer any (obvious) benefits for the customer that's worth raising your security risk ever so slightly. If it's something like a forum account, there's several good reason for why you'd want info tied to an online account, but in this case, all relevant info should be able to be stored locally, no online account needed.
Now shadowplay has been replaced by "Share", its just stopped working entirely, I can't open up Share, it just keeps saying "that didn't work, try restarting your pc" No matter how I install experience or how many times i restart my PC, it just doesnt fucking work.

Giving out your email address allows you to be tracked across multiple websites, even if they use it just for user statistics there is no guarantee that your email address won't be leaked or sold to advertisers, using your social media account or an email linked to one allows them to gather even more data about you, if you're going to use their garbage at the very least you should be using a fake email account.
