You can setup OBS to basically do all the things ShadowPlay can. (Yes, that includes almost impactless recording with NVENC.)
Trimming recordings and direct upload to the net?

Literally only reason I use it though, due to that streamlined approach
OBS can record stuff, correct? Sounds interesting, I might use it for recording stuff.
Anyway, yeah, the only reason I have GeForce Experience installed was... IDK why I have it installed actually, can't remember. I'll probably just download any drivers manually.
nVidia is really pushing people to go AMD, which is great. More competition is always a good thing :^)

What, shadowplay has features for editing footage?
Well, I decided to enter my Google account for the hell of it, and I'm already debating on uninstalling it.
The idea of the overlay is nice, but I'd rather it not pop up every time I launch a game and tell me to press Alt+Z. And there seems to be no way to disable that pop up.
Also, it fucked around with the settings I had before for GeForce Experience, and set itself to automatically optimize every game it found, so now I'll have to redo a bunch of settings for games.
Thanks NVIDIA!:v:
It uses less resources though, so at least that's nice.
I mean, Shadowplay is fine if you want to capture some footage on the spot while playing, but if you want to slap the 'editing' perks in the mix, one uses xsplit / OBS / Camtasia / whatever, saves on disk and edits further.
Back in the day, there was some news/rumors about this one, nVidia possibly gating drivers downloads behind Experience software + registration step... (this one)
I guess it first starts with the suckfest of nvidia Xperience, then leading up to the drivers, who knows?!

nVidia have shown no intention to "gate" their drivers behind a utility. You have always been able to obtain the drivers directly from their site, and then opt out of installing Geforce Experience during a custom installation.
nVidia know that they have a market that doesn't actually use GPUs for gaming, or uses their workstation cards. They have zero reason to lock drivers away behind this application. It's an entirely optional utility that provides some useful features (of which there are tons of alternatives to anyway). If they were going to lock anything behind Geforce Experience, it'd be the NVENC encoder that Shadowplay uses, but they haven't even done that.
You guys are blowing this way out of proportion lmao. Just don't install the fucking thing if you don't want to use it and set up OBS, it's not fucking hard and the game optimisation feature isn't exactly great anyway.
Who the fuck would want to sync game graphics configurations between computers
I don't know about you guys, but I tweak my settings based on the computer's hardware I want to use the game on...
Maybe you reinstalled the PC?
Also could someone explain to me why anyone cares about this program? From what I see it's the same as that Raptor or Rapture or whatever they call the AMD variant that I always untick in custom installation because all it does it bog down your PC with more useless shit and constantly pings you that you earned an achievement for turning on your PC today.
Syncing overclock settings I can see, other than that it seems like forced garbage.

No. It wouldn't surprise me if that was illegal as well.
Man, I really hope the forced to update or your features are disabled won't affect my offline PCs at home. Or won't start affecting them when they do get connected to the Internet. I really love having Shadowplay handy because often times awesome stuff happens in a game and being able to record my last ten minutes after the fact is wonderful.
I mostly use the software for shadowplay. It seems to work better than OBS for me. With OBS I get these weird lag spikes and stutters in the recording that don't happen in game. Also OBS recordings always have some compression artifacts for me that I don't get with shadowplay.
And yes I have changed OBS settings and bitrate many many times and followed more than one tutorial. I have managed to improve the quality but it's still worse than shadowplay.
It's garbage. I downgraded to an older version. The older version works fine and I prefer it.
The new UI is trash, forced registrations, missing settings and options, genuinely fucking terrible.
Stick to the previous version.

Shadowplay is still a thing. It didnt just disappear.
The only thing that I find disturbing is the popup when I start a game. Other than that I don't really see what's the big fuss here. Sure the new UI is worse than the previous and login is quite unnecessary, but at least the program starts a lot faster now and uses less resources.
Never had a problem with driver installation or Shadowplay and I've used it ever since it was released. Always disable the optimal game settings though as they are shit.

It's rebranded to share.
It's been in beta for since last year I think, anyone was able to get it though a checkbox in the client.
Even let's you play co op over the net with a chrome plugin
[editline]12th September 2016[/editline]
Not to mention better and more simple capture support overall
One thing that hit me though was default shortcut alt Z, really did me in when using photoshop.
It's now f23
I think the biggest joke here is that you have to set a password at all. What exactly would I have access to if I stole someone else's account? There is literally no need for a personalized experience. Its the fundamental equivalent of the old RollerCoaster Tychoon "Register your game" shit. The only benefit having an account gives you for real is that you can use the latest version of their software.
Their program, their rules. Use OBS if having to take 40 seconds to make an account is really that much of an issue for you.
I guess I'm not automatically entitled to the features they promised with my $650 GPU?
These logins are dumb, its just like the razer manager BS.
I'm less defending it and more just not understanding why everyone's flipping their shit over something that's so incredibly small. Like, I'll estimate logging in is going to take up maybe two minutes of my life total, because the only time I'll ever see that Experience login screen is whenever I'm installing drivers and updates on a fresh install of an OS.

I guess that's a fair point, but it really seems like everyone's having a massive overreaction to it as if they've commited some unspeakable crime.
It's moreso that we now have an always-online DRM type deal for a program that's free, and uses up way too many resources. If you read the terms of service, it also records your desktop at all times and you can't turn it off.

Huh? The program isn't even capable of recording the desktop.
Wasn't aware there was a thread on this, I just got finished trying Experience 3.0 yesterday.
Promptly uninstalled and reverted to an earlier version. For reasons I do not know Share simply would not work on my machine and all I wanted to do was record a minute of gameplay with Shadowplay, which has worked flawlessly for me so far.
Huh? The program isn't even capable of recording the desktop.
Yeah it is, but it's disabled by default.

it includes tools that are yes, capable of recording the desktop. thats kind of the point of the shadow play feature (you can set it to record games only or your whole computer, its only streamed if you want to, like for twitch)
Yeah it is, but it's disabled by default.
and it's not standalone, as it is bundled with the experiance

who's stupid idea was it to code this in javascript anyway
you don't need to login to use shadowplay
you can just leave it at the login screen, then boot up a game and press alt+z to access shadowplay and all its settings

the other side though, to disable it completely and safely, the toggle is placed with the interface.
Can you just delete the share exe, who knows lol

Why would you use geforce experience then? Auto updating drivers? It's only worth using for that and shadowplay

If you dont want to use shadow play, there really is no need having experience installed

Registration is a pretty small thing in comparison to all this sick new stuff they're now providing. Love this new update. Boots up way faster, UI looks great, and it works much better now.

tbh I really hate the new UI, everything else is fine.
