Such as?
/r/niggers got banned for an SRS false flag (User was permabanned for this post ("Gimmick" - verynicelady))
As a frontpage to news and community events for games, Reddit is great. The low interaction subreddits are also nice for media. As a platform for discussion, connection, social interaction, debate, learning, and so on, it's shit.
Such as?

I would respect this a lot more if they didn't ban Gawker media links, keep the revengeporn subreddits but instantly remove the celebrity nudes, and shadowban users for being pro-GamerGate or talking about this. Their "freedom of speech" is very selective.

keep the revengeporn subreddits but instantly remove the celebrity nudes,
No, they waited for the hype to cool down before removing it. You know , maybe one of the 120k fappeners wanted to buy some gold ? :v: < bad faith evil conspiracy mode off > Anyway the blog post is one hell of an hypocrite one. " We feel bad for the celebrities involved ". How can you say that when you allow ( and openly declare it on the same post ) all the shitholes we are talking about ? I know they don't have to have feelings for everything on the websites, but holy hell how do they feel about dead kid pics and all then ? Not bad enough to remove them I guess
Freedom of speech
This is such a lazy excuse. Freedom of speech should never ever justify immoral or disgusting behavior. Just because I can talk about how to kill a man or something of the like doesn't mean I should. Reddit has a massive user base, a large amount of which is minors, and the sheer fact that subreddits like raping women or dead kids exist in a website like that is simply inexcusable. Not only is it immoral, it's generally unprofessional and the recent removal of the celebrity nudes, but continued existence of the revenge porn subreddit (alongside others) shows that the admins only care about looking professional to cover their own asses. I will admit that I use reddit semi-often, but allowing such disgusting content on such a popular website is just fucking inexcusable.
do you understand how difficult it is for people that are young to find subreddits like that
do you understand how difficult it is for people that are young to find subreddits like that
Given that they're often in replies to top level comments, probably not very difficult at all.
do you understand how difficult it is for people that are young to find subreddits like that
When I was browsing it, the front page often offered references to suggestive stuff that would result in top comments and replies such as "source ( nsfw ) : " , " same person in sexy pose ( nsfw ) : " and so on. There also were from time to time "compilations of the weirdest subreddits" which where open door to all the subs we are talking about
Given that they're often in replies to top level comments, probably not very difficult at all.
No they aren't. [editline]9th September 2014[/editline]
When I was browsing it, the front page often offered references to suggestive stuff that would result in top comments and replies such as "source ( nsfw ) : " , " same person in sexy pose ( nsfw ) : " and so on.
What if you guys think you're not being oppressed because everyone that has spoken out about us areshadowbanned :tinfoil:
Rusty or Craptasket would give it away, they just can't not be people who need snickers.
No they aren't.
You're right, sometimes they are the top level comments. Askreddit has threads on this crap almost monthly.
do you understand how difficult it is for people that are young to find subreddits like that
That doesn't make it any less unprofessional or ok. And also, they're brought up in almost bi-monthly top comment topics about "Weirdest/Creepiest Subreddits"
gee whiz, just imagine that 15 year old johnny finds /r/picsofdeadkids he goes, out of morbid curiousity or a mean trick, he sees a dead kid, and he gets scared and leaves forever. there are foundational issues in the child if they stay that are not reddit's fault. it's shitty but the entire point of reddit is that it's a social platform for anything. i can't think of any reason it could be illegal in the US, so I imagine the admins can't either. odd micromanagement of subreddits like /r/thefappening is weird and unprofessional, I agree, but you guys are sounding like Fox News talking about this subreddit like it's the entire purpose of the website.

Freedom of speech doesn't cover immoral behavior? What if one day the government decides that protesting is immoral?
You realize what you're saying right? Freedom of speech doesn't cover immoral behavior? What if one day the government decides that protesting is immoral?
The difference is that Reddit is a private organization, and as such doesn't have to shrug it's shoulders and say "welp it's freedom of speech, our hands are tied", it's their responsibility to keep that shit out of their website

[editline]9th September 2014[/editline] Violating free speech is far worse than allowing shitty speech to exist, what the fuck do you people not get about this
Reddit censorship
Wtf is with the reddit admins? Are they trying to kill off their site? First ignoring SRS even though they openly doxx and vote brigade. After that, during the beginning of Quinngate shadow banning left and right and now this?
Beats the shit out of me.
I agree, the administration is trash and needs to be reworked. I am arguing against the people that dismiss literally the entire site all together [editline]8th September 2014[/editline] ... says the person who lives in the USA ... ?
..... how do you even function ...?
You're right, sometimes they are the top level comments. Askreddit has threads on this crap almost monthly.
that topic is literally about posting the "worst stubreddits", what the fuck are you expecting? nice going, though, picking a thread about posting those bad subreddits as a source for "they're often in replies to top level comments"
http://www.reddit.com/r/picsofdeadkids This exists, but should you dare argue feminism, or god forbid post nekkid celebrities The site is run by fucking pedo creeps. I also forgot to mention, this is one of the creepy circle jerk subreddits. There are hundreds, if not thousands more.
As horribly wrong as that place is they have some pretty funny titles.
