Well you're not putting anything on the table to back your claims regarding Valve being shit, so by default you're already an idiot.
You're an idiot for turning to insults. But I guess that makes me a hypocrite.
Serious Sam 3 hopefully won't run bad like it does on Windows.
If it runs bad on windows under DirectX it is most likely going to run worse under linux on OpenGL. Honestly until Card manufacturers start using a more optimised opengl in their implementations for consumer cards you won't see much of an improvement.
Of course their workstation cards tend to have a very good one.
Not an expert on this. But some source games run on Mac OSX, and I'm pretty sure Mac OSX games run on OpenGL.
To be honest a lot of Osx games tend to be windows versions packed inside of a winelike commercial package. I know blizzard does this for instance. Another one that comes to mind is limbo and probably countless others.
That's a pretty old game, why would the dev come and give a Linux version to Steam now?
Not to mention its had a linux version out for ages already. Why would one NEED to be on steam?
Most games made using OpenGL should be easily ported
e.g Amnesia, and Valve porting the source engine probably had help from the mac version

Blizzard games run perfectly under WINE, so it makes sense.

How cute.
15 games!? I didn't even know Linux had 1!
im sorry but linux has the best ground breaking games ever like tux racer and tux kart you filthy casual.
Fuck yeah Eversion.
This game is so great.
Hopefully they can add Postal 2 to that if they get the Steamplay version through Greenlight.
I love that badly made piece of fun stupidity.

my brothers
Also can't you render Half Life with OpenGL?
iirc you can get VAC banned for doing that.
iirc you can get VAC banned for doing that.
the default rendering engine is OpenGL
I highly doubt that
im sorry but linux has the best ground breaking games ever like tux racer and tux kart you filthy casual.
Speaking of that, there's an arcade version of Tux Racer and there were plans to build another cabinet of Super Tux Kart. No joke.
Worth noting that this is only true for DX9. On my system DX11 and OpenGL perform roughly the same (using unigine's Tropics demo)
Source performs faster on OpenGL because Valve never adopted the newer DirectX versions.
true but it'd be better to adopt OpenGL and ignore DX altogether, because DX is Windows and xbox only

yup, i saw one in person (disney world has a few of them in their hotels and theme parks)
i laughed hard
I find it nice that they start to support linux for games. My self will still run windows but more platform support is nice.
Just hope they will continue too support windows in the future.

I was playing Paranoia a while back and my video wouldn't work so I tried switching to OpenGL and a few people in the skype chat I was in told me not to do so because VAC mistakes the OpenGL.dll as a hack.

that is a myth that still only applies to modified .dll files

Its a DLL included with the game, yeah okay VAC is gonna mistake its own DLLs as hacks.
Go tell your friends that they are poorly informed and should research a subject before making assertions.

I dunno man you should calm your tits tho, they kinda engulfed in flames.
it seems like OpenGL might be coming to Source games, even on Windows. Again, might
Isnt opengl already on source games?
I know its on goldsrc, because if you could run CS on opengl and not software then it meant you had a beast computer.

Not really. It most likely meant that your CPU was slow, unless you are talking about new computers being incompatible.
people still play games on computer? lol.
everyone i know has an xbox or playstation, it's 2012 here people, come on.

You mean people still play games on consoles designed in the early 00's?
Get with the program people.

Huh, thats interesting because I coulda just called you and your friends fucking retarded... but I purposfully opted to be nice about it.
-noted: speaking nicely means ones tits are aflame-
-addendum: one can create tit flames by passing up opportunities to be rude-
-subnote: is the intensity of one's tit flames proportional to the amount of rudeness they pass up?-

In the last 17 hours, Dungeons of Dredmor, VVVVVV and Cogs got added.
I'm really excited at how things are looking right now, between Windows 8 and Linux possibly becoming a more used platform due to things like this. Just so many nice changes happening.
Actually wondering about the differences in rendering. It would honestly be really neat and it'd help the switch a lot if some demanding games were a bit less so under barebones Linux.

What do you mean? How is rendering different?
