This is silly. They're probably using that Mirai code that got posted on a certain forum. And they want to claim anything is retarded. I really hope they get caught for this obviously illegal act.
That would be like the most "script kiddie" thing to do.
"Play on your consoles." Fuck off.
what are they trying to achieve other than looking like massive douchebags on a worldwide scale
attention, since mummy never gave it to them
csgo matchmaking seems like its down
real nice attack you guys. sure crippled steam for multiple hours.
lol noobs wasnt even down half a day
im able to connect to matchmaking servers, are they targeting different countries?
i'm not getting a game though, and no one is searching though compared to normal. i think it was down for a bit... also queue up with me
LOL I bet they think they're hardcore as fuck.
... would be no point at all ...
Well, I'd guess it's something like a strongmen competitions of muscle flexing. Think about this, the sheer amount of traffic the steam servers get during legit sales are usually enough to cause a hiccup, if a group could manage to completely knock down all of steam for even a day, that'd be on the same level of something like a 600KG deadlift. Impressive feat to some, but mostly useless flaunt to others. ....at least most people can appreciate a deadlift of that scale.
what are they trying to achieve other than looking like massive douchebags on a worldwide scale
Fleeting moments of infamy
Steams already working? Fucking wow, that wasn't long at all, good job fellas.
There's always some neckbeard trying to be an asshole and not let people play their games.
cs servers are down again, god DAMNIT
I can't play dota 2, what a tragedy :saddowns:
Though massive DDOS attack is quite hard to achieve (the attack that would last for days). Still douchebag thing to do.
~serious operation~ I lost connection to the Dark Souls 3 server. Must be their serious operation. Or maybe the game I forgot to stop downloading in the background.

I'll play offline then i got loads of SP games to finish, check mate.
10/10
With a profile pic and header like this they really want to be taken serious. Or they're just trolls
real nice attack you guys. sure crippled steam for multiple hours.
Isn't that for maintenance?
Games that don't use SteamWorks will be fine and steam can be used regardless of whether valve's backend is up or not so I don't really get what they are trying to achieve. Beyond not being able to login perhaps. Can't you start steam in offline mode without internet now? Or did I imagine that.
I can't say I noticed anything

Or did I imagine that.
IIRC, You have to actually switch to offline mode before you can log in, while being logged in onto your steam account with internet access, it's been a long time since I used it but I believe it still works this way. It's also shoddy and works around 60% of the time when you actually need it.
Don't really see the point of DDOSing servers in the first place, all it produces is just an inconvenience to many . Not entirely sure why they think that DDOSing a server will send a message in the first place. What is the message they're trying to send in the first place? That they're "Super elite hackers"? At this rate they're probably just trying to outdo the others such "Poodlecorp" and "LizardSquad". Edit: Their attempts to outdo the others by DDOSing Steam have failed, but don't worry this just spells "Super serious operation" guys.
10/10
"Next, we'll take down PSN for 12 minutes! Go play your PCs" Real hackers bust into databases and make off with thousands of users' data, not take down a server for an hour.

These guys are major retards by the looks of their twitter: What? :v:

Probably some child who somewhat figured out Mirai or something. maybe we should stand back guys, after all, this is a serious operation ~~
