pretty sure it's been called palestine for centuries, brosketch
I was talking about the so called Palestinian people. By the way, didn't the Romans just rename it to Syria Palestina to fuck with the jews after they tried to rebel?
no substance
Yes, because the Government as an entity is made up of many members. What one person says doesn't reflect the whole view of the Government.
but when a few Hamas top leaders speak of genocide, you say they all have that view.
Never said anything like that, as I said before.
If they want their country back then they should go back to Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Lebanon et al.

The name palestine goes back to the times of the Ancient romans, also arab nationalism rose in the early 20th centrury, also Turkey isint Arab.
I was talking about the so called Palestinian people.
...they're people from Palestine. Which is what they've been calling Israel for 2000 years.
I really don't see how continuing to call themselves Palestinian and not acknowledging the "right" that the people who are forcing them into fucking concentration camps have to live there is a sign of extreme nationalism
But who lived there first?
Neither.
Neither.
Well, out of the Jews and the Arabs, the Jews lived there first, but obviously other people lived there before the Jews.
But who lived there first?
Not the Arabs lol.
According to Moshe Sharon, Palaestina was commonly used to refer to the coastal region and shortly thereafter, the whole of the area inland to the west of the Jordan River. The latter extension occurred when the Roman authorities, following the suppression of the Bar Kokhba rebellion in the 2nd century AD, renamed "Provincia Judea" (Iudaea Province; originally derived from the name "Judah") to "Syria Palaestina" (Syria Palaestina), in order to complete the dissociation with Judaea.

Ok then tell me where the Palestinians came from? Also the Jews who left Palestine, Where are they now? Because Almost all of the Jewish Israeli Population is Ashkenazi or Arab.

Actually Judea was'nt the name of all palestine, Judea was the place of the kingdom of Judah.
Ok then tell me where the Palestinians came from? Also the Jews who left Palestine, Where are they now? Because Almost all of the Jewish Israeli Population is Ashkenazi or Arab.
Most of today's Palestinians came in the late 19th and early 20th century from Syria, Jordan and Egypt. Before that, Palestine was quite empty. Also, the Israeli population is mostly Ashkenazi or Mizrahi (not only Arab) because 2000 years ago the Romans spread the revolting Jews across many provinces, and that also happened earlier with the Babylonians, that is why Jews are so spread out across the world and why a Jew from Europe is different than a Jew from the middle east in appearance, customs, etc. But the religious rituals and stuff are almost identical.
Actually Judea was'nt the name of all palestine, Judea was the place of the kingdom of Judah.
[img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e8/Levant_830.svg[/img_thumb]
That map is a map of the kingdoms in the area in the years 600-700 BCE. Almost all of that area was first called Provincia Judea by the Romans when they conquered it, because the Jewish kingdom was the only one remaining at the time, the others were destroyed by the Babylonians, Persians and Greeks.
After the Jews revolted they changed the name again to Palestine.
If you say that only the "kingdom of Judah" part of the map was called Judea, you'd basically be saying that only the "Philistine city states" part is Palestine.
i'd rather support the IDF than hamas
They both do terrible shit with the goal of exterminating the other, at least Hamas formed out of the need for defense
at least IDF doesnt use the 'dead baby' method

Or maybe when Israel becomes a non religious state that is secular or until it goes back to 1948 UN partition plan borders.

That still dosen't give the Jewish Ethnicity a right to control them.....Palestinian people refers to the fact they once lived in a country called Palestine that was there before Israel was created.

That's a really biased unsourced opinion piece you got there. Initially I was going to call the writer an idiot, but the UN investigation: Goldstone Report (led by a Jew, interestingly, Israel claims he's antisemitic) came after that article. The Report debunked most of the claims the article mentioned (Hamas using human sheilds, Hanas firing from schools/UN hospitals e.g)
You should read it one day.
Also, here's a relevant article I found http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1870087,00.html
Lol, Just like the old times, Eh star pluck?
that washingtontimes article was written by Alan M. Dershowitz, so its pretty much garbage.

We should get you and ohjade or whatever his name was to lead Israeli-Palestine negotiations.
I'm sure in-between the two of you there's a pretty fair agreement.
What? They're Palestinian not Saudi, Turkish, and Lebanese.
Their ethnic origins are mostly Arab and Turkish colonizers and invaders, not Philistine (which could be considered the original "Palestinian" ethnicity.)

Well if they made their own country with UN approval within Iraq then Iraq tried to annex them, failed and started launching rockets claiming to "Liberate" them, yeah it'd be similar.

The UN is not the commanding authority in this situation, because clearly the mandate was pretty goddamn unsuccessful due to the fact that it contributed to severe global and regional instability. And clearly the Balfour declaration did not satisfy the Arab Palestinians in the region.
Secondly, there were plenty of Palestinian Jews who fed into the violence starting the conflict as well.
Thirdly, the population of Palestine is not able to control the ideals of a small group of radicals. Bombing the fuck out of towns only empowers radicals.
Israel will neither leave or let the Palestinians have their own nation on their own terms. Nothing is forcing them or even motivating Israel to work towards the peace process, so radicalism is expected.
UN approval
doesnt mean shit basically
