That's a brilliant tactic he used.
Certainly had lots of people fooled for a while. It's going to be a pain in the ass to try and locate all those mines. I wonder if he will do any damage with them, though.

Hopefully the various NATO countries with minesweeping ships in the area will clear them quickly.
The BBC showed a video of the Royal Navy disposing of one on Friday, by the looks of it they literally drive an unmanned sub into it.
All in the name of his son, whatever his name was.
Clever tactic though I'll admit.

It's an illegal one.
Why can't we use cluster bombs on him yet? seriously, if he's breaking the rules can't we hammer him to tartarus and back.
He's going to pull off every low move in the book. It's bad enough he is disguising his forces as the Red Cross, what's next? By the time Libya is done, he will be worse of a scum than Hitler, if thats even possible...
He won't have the time. He's still a cunt who needs sorting out.
Clever, but incredibly wrong. Hopefully this will all end soon. There's too much pointless violence in the world today.
Wow, that's pretty awesome. Granted, it's a cheap move and Gaddafi is a twat, but that's pretty impressive.
This guy's nuts. He's going to fucking start gassing people
He is going to be demolished if he keeps pushing the West
[editline]7th May 2011[/editline]
Seriously, he's fucked.
Even though Gaddafi is a massive asshole, he seems like a very cunning asshole at the same time.
These are some pretty damn good tactics for disrupting the rebels but apparently the Gaddafi forces can't hold a secret. This is still a long way from how CIA kills the innocent.
Edit: Seriosly, he's come up with so much extremely devious plans and tactics but they always get leaked sooner or later.
IS the red cross even in Libya with choppers right now?

You gotta be sneaky if you still want to keep fighting in this age.
Hahaha, I can't believe my country is actually going to be able to use the one ship they sent (belgian)
They sent a single, as-of-then useless demining ship, it's gonna have some work cut out for it if these claims are true.
And I will laugh if they strike a mine, it would just be too typical :v:
[editline]8th May 2011[/editline]
Seriously, they sent that ship only to satisfy Nato expectations, and to have the least action as possible as there were no mines in that area. Talk about getting screwed over by the odds
Isn't falsely using protected symbols quite a serious war crime?
Do you think he gives a shit?
NATO should give the red cross officials there a code word for their helicopters, so red cross officials can just call their choppers and tell them the code word when asked by NATO, and any of those pro-gadaffi assholes that try to get in without the codeword will get shot down.
Or, you know, watch them and shoot them down if anything is dropped into the ocean from them
Why do people even support Gaddafi in the first place?
You'd actually be suprised what Gaddafi has done in Libya. Libya provides free healthcare and free education up to university level - Libya's eductation budget is around 35% of the entire national budget, and an extensive social housing program. Libya also has one of the highest GDPs and Literacy rates in Africa.

So then why do people hate him then?
So then why do people hate him then?
Because he's a oppressive dictator, he's a progressive one though.

While Libya does change presidents every now and again Gadaffi has always been the de facto leader of the country.
Some have nostalgia for the old monarchy. Some want democracy. Some think Gaddafi is actually too moderate when it comes to Islam. Some are annoyed by the distribution of wealth behind the scenes, within the government. Not to mention the civil and human rights abuses inflicted on those who oppose him.

Sounds like he would have been remembered as a good person if he didn't do all this shit.
Rules in war? Haha. When you're on verge of losing, rules suddenly don't matter to you anymore.

Not to mention the political situation in Libya is essentially composed of a number of tribes which usually tried to fight for power in between each other - Gaddafi more or less ended that either by paying some tribes, suppressing others and overall employing a sugar and whip policy with them.
That's also somewhat the situation with the rebellion and the fact that Gaddaffi by now probably has more public support in Libya than the rebels do. Considering that at the start of the rebellion you had multiple tribes supporting it, but with time most have relinquished the support - probably in part since they really don;t want one of the tribes to become dominant.
Hence Gaddaffi's relative position of power once more. You have to give some kuddos to the man. He's weathering one of the worst political crisis' any politician is likely to face. And he's somewhat succeeding as well.
As to the allegations from the rebels about the red cross choppers. - Until it's confirmed by the NATO forces in the area I say it holds no real merit. It is quite possible that the Libyan forces used choppers with the same colours and types as the red cross uses, but I have some doubts about them actually having any insignia. Not to mention that in this day and age getting a photo is relatively simple. I'd gather that quite a lot of the rebels have cellphones, cameras and whatever else. Find it odd that not a single picture has yet emerged.
They saw the choppers apparently as they shot at them.

Implying this is something to brag about

Though, as with all the pictures they use in news articles, it's pathetically small.

Another article mentioning the minesweeping ship in Misrata.

I guess when you're options are play fairly and get executed after losing and playing dirty with the chance of winning, it's obvious which choice he is going to make.
That's just plain wrong.
Seriously, end this guy. I didn't really care about Osama as he was barely a threat anymore, but this douchebag needs imminent removal. Not as act of revenge, but as a must.

War is wrong
War is wrong
This is whole new level of wrong.
