I played a couple weeks ago and online is dead. So there goes all my chances for platinum trophy on THAT game.
Well, want to know what it was like before it died? Did quits count as losses in that game? If they didn't, that was moronic on their part.
Having to tolerate newbies does not mean I should have to listen to 8 years old kids shouting racial slurs at their mic. And I should not have to deal with ragequitters all the time either. When I was a kid I was only playing singleplayer, and used cheat codes until I was good enough to play without them. I only started playing MP around 14, and even then I never used a microphone publicly.

It pissed me off to the point where I stopped playing it.
the fighting game genre is so stagnant because the vast majority of the fighting game community dislike changes made to their games and want everything to be the same for the most part anything new or any changes made to newer titles are usually blasted by fighting game fans because it's not to their tastes
"I HAVE TO RELEARN SOMETHING THIS GAME IS FUCKING AWFUL"
Did quits count as losses in that game? If they didn't, that was moronic on their part.
Fighting games network by establishing a connection directly between each user, so if one player quits or drops the connection then there isn't a reliable way to ensure who dropped it on the master server's end because the master server has no say in the game whatsoever. I mean, there are ways to do it, but it's not reasonable to just trust a client when he says "I WON!!!" without confirmation from the other client, otherwise you can give other players losses and give yourself wins.
At the same time there is a difference between making a game accessible and pandering to a casual market. IN recent years it has become clear that capcom doesn't really know the difference.
Wish more companies had this attitude.....like blizzard for instance. Honestly, WoW itself is suffering from this EXACT problem. Just like what capcom said. Veteran players NEVER embrace "new" players. When I first did cataclysm heroics, I had no idea what the fuck I was doing. A good and sensible player should have calmly pointed out what I was doing wrong, and told me what I should do to correct it. Instead, I got yelled at CONSTANTLY for not knowing all the boss fights by heart, even though I warned them I was new to it. I got kicked out of more groups during those couple of months than I can count. Just my personal experience in a matter like this.
i think it depends on the realm on the realm I played on all the assholes played Horde
The only thing I've liked that's related to EVO and fighting tournaments is Cross Counter TV and more specifically the adventures of Gootecks and Mike Ross. Mainly like it because they do lose and they're pretty good sports every time, regardless of win/lose. That and they have pretty funny commentary.
Usually if you're just starting out in a MOBA you want to go in with either friends or someone in a community you're a part of (sometimes). Most of the community does suck when it comes to helping others and they don't seem to care that they're driving away new people. I never usually get annoyed at newer players unless they: A- Blame teammates for a poor game B- React in a hostile manner to friendly advice or tips (happens quite often) C- Refuse to communicate in any way If any of you were thinking of giving League of Legends or Dota 2 another shot I'd be happy to help. MOBAs can be quite a bit of fun if you play with the right people.
naw mang I was born a pro
Probably for the best, MOBA's have probably the worst communities known to the universe.
And the minecraft community (the official forums).
For some reason I've never expected someone from a huge company like Capcom to ever say "scrub". ...what?
A minute of searching on google would tell you what they mean. Also I don't see anyone whining about starcraft 2 not doing this either, you have to do the exact same thing, google youtube and train. SC2 has Teamliquid, fighting games has SRK. From the comments: The community doesn't 'scoff at teaching new players', they 'scoff' at dumbing the games down to suit the lowest common denominator. SFxTK was the shittiest fighting game capcom shat out to date, due to casual shit.
