God this is disgusting. As a fellow motorcycle rider, I feel really awful for this guy. I'm angered whenever I hear of a biker being hit by someone who was too lazy to check their blind spots, but this is just something else..
This, about 4 weeks ago i was doing a turn at about 80 kph on a trail with my enduro, at this time a quad was coming at about the same speed but he was on my side to get more room to turn better, man that was a CLOSE one, i was so pissed off.
I felt awful after reading that :(
The woman should be in prison or a mental hospital\home. Poor guy, he's lost his dignity, his honor and can no longer stand on two feet and will probably need to have support for the rest of his life. What a bitch.
This bitch, her DL should of been cut in half.

How the heck has he lost his dignity and honor? Did she get out of the car and piss on him afterwards?
lost his leg
It's not like perceptions skills are a matter between life and death when on the road. Nah, let's give her a pass on the test.
This makes me sick.
I was just on a 7 hour motorcycle trip and am I happy that nothing remotely dangerous happened.

And if she doesn't pay her part of the settlement she'll probably be forced to do just that.
On my way home for lunch today I watched a very old woman pull up to a stop sign, and she sat and waited forever until someone else decided she wanted to yield right of way. That person slowly proceeded though the intersection, and at the exact halfway point the old woman nailed the throttle and t-boned him. She did not touch the brakes or try to avoid it, she just drove square into the side of his car. Unbelievable, no normal person does that.

In denmark you have to go to your doctor in order to keep your driving licence, when you hit 70, 74, 76, 78 and 80 years, and after that you need to get checked every year.

Are you just confused about the meaning of the words "dignity" and "honor," or am I just missing the part where this bloke should be ashamed about being the victim of an impaired driver?
The only way I would see the yearly tests being a problem is if an old lady fails, and lives out in the rural area and doesn't have anyone to drive them around. They sure as hell can't walk 5 miles to get groceries/visit the doctor when they need to.
With no public transport, they wouldn't have much of a choice.
The solution is called eldery care. Putting people in danger because of shopping is not okay.
Honestly the driving test should be harder for everyone anyways, there's plenty of people out there who aren't over 40 who drive like complete shit. There should be more on the test than just following a speed limit and signaling turns while going a slow 45mph, they should consider the overall quality of how the person drives, and maybe they should have some kind of driving course in a parking lot with cones and prove you can handle a car at various speeds.

She's probably trying to squeeze some money out of insurance fraud. Perhaps we should consider the motivating factors behind this...

It's the fact that he's a man and that he might have trouble doing things on his own. Being a man and being anything less than 100% self-sufficient are not compatible.

Haha, what? Is this serious? Are you being serious? Are you pullin' my leg, here?
Ms. Ingram shows no signs of relinquishing her license, nor does she plan to pay her share of the $5 million verdict. She still denies that she hit Jerry Wall, even though repair records indicate her repair shop scraped off his flesh and blood from the front of her car.
what fucking repair shop did she go to, that sounds horrific and if my boss said to me "go scrape the flesh and blood off of her car before detailing it" i'd just walk the fuck right out of there
This really, REALLY pisses me off. That fucking cunt just ruined someone's life. He'll never be able to walk on 2 feet again for the REST of his life. Think about it, don't just forget about this story 5 minutes later thinking "oh, what a shame." For the remaining decades of Mr. Wall's life, he's going to have to put up with no longer having a fully functioning leg and be handicapped. And the woman doesn't even FUCKING CARE. She denies it even happened. AND SHE IS STILL ALLOWED TO DRIVE ON THE ROADS, EVEN THOUGH SHE FAILED A DRIVING TEST FOUR TIMES AFTER AND HAS A HISTORY OF ACCIDENTS? I have no more words to say...

I feel so awful for laughing at that probably unintended pun there, holy shit. :v:
If I read the article right, did she go more or less straight from the crash to a repair shop? Shouldn't her car, with Wall's flesh and blood on the hood, be taken as evidence by the police?
Are you fucking serious?!?

No that's just you
remove her license, arrest her.

This post took the words right out my mouth. Seriously, I'd really like to know who the hell thought it would be a good idea to let this woman keep her license. She's clearly a danger to herself and others behind the wheel. Logic dictates that we should take her damn license to keep her from killing herself or others. God knows we don't want another case like Mr. Wall. Poor guy's entire life is now fucked up because of her.

Did you at least provide yourself as a witness for the cops?
I think this lady is just playing the "I'm an old lady, leave me alone" card.
Civil suits can take years to resolve. She probably knows she'll be dead before she has to pay this guy anything. He needs to have a lawyer go to court and see if they can get a judge to freeze her assets until after the case is resolved. Otherwise she'll just transfer everything into someone else's name.
I live on the isle of wight ,first thing you notice about this island is its full of old people.
going purely on my own experience: elderly people seriously can't drive.
like, when you live in an area mostly populated by the elderly- you cant drive somewhere or catch a bus without having some form of trouble becuase of an elderly driver.
most days its just them doing stupid stuff like driving ridiculously slow and holding everyone up, but ive seen so many crashes since i moved here that its actully starting to worry me.
Fucking old people. Don't let these elderly senile fucks drive, they are a danger to society.

I'm pretty sure the core concept of insurance fraud depends on getting someone else to crash into you, not the other way around.
It really just looked like she didn't have a clue what was going on, I mean no evasive action whatsoever. It didn't even look like she hit the wrong pedal or something.

Fuck no, I was on my lunch break and had already burned 20 minutes getting home. I ain't wasting the rest of it explaining an obvious situation. Besides, in Indiana fault is assigned by a very detailed and complex process where the officer looks and sees which car's front end is damaged.
I hope Mr. Wall takes her to court over this.
