Good thing those live underwater, imagine walking outside in the night and you see 10 of those crawling past a street lamp.

We are putting too many hazardous chemicals in the ocean!

Crabs are cool, don't disrespect.
The deep ocean is absolutely terrifying.
Just the shear amount of shit that we still don't know about it is just insane.

That's a coconut crab. They don't attack humans iirc.
Damn, 6KM down means that when alive, these creatures had to withstand six hundred times the atmospheric pressure of the surface. No wonder they feel unlike anything here at sea level.

That picture made me want to go eat some shrimp.

Apparently if they do grab onto you, the easiest way to get it off is to tickle it.

...Yet.
Also, this thing is weird. It reminds me of the giant arthropods that lived on land during the Carboniferous.
At least it's not a 3-foot long centipede that lives on land.

Well most of the deep sea creatures are pretty much prehistoric stuff that survived evolution and extinction because there isn't much danger where they live. Everything is going incredibly slow down there, and some species take iirc over 30 years to grow up before being able to breed (and yes some dumbass fishermen are trying to fish those things at a very high rate)

You can rate someone a second time and the new rating will replace the previous one y'know.
I just love seeing giant things in the ocean. Scary, but awesome. Anything scary, big and weird found in the ocean instantly remind me of Angler fish.

What's that zergs name?
I know the guy who does this, and knew about a month+ before the news broke due to a friend doing his thesis with one of the guy's colleagues.
He gave a great talk about the project that found this last year for one of our courses, out at a place near here called OceanLab
What's that zergs name?
it's a deep sea isopod.
isopoda is a group of crusteceans that includes pillbugs and woodlice, and also these bigass trilobite-looking things that love doritos

Are they edible?
It looks like it doesn't taste good... Throw it back it's useless!-Gabe Newell
Can't wait for a living Megalodon to be discovered :v:
