Queen Elizabeth admitted to hospital with stomach bug as precaution
The 86-year-old monarch has been taken to King Edward VII Hospital in London, a palace spokesman said.
All official engagements for this week, including the Queen's trip to Rome, will be either cancelled or postponed.
The Queen was driven to hospital by private car on Sunday, and the palace said she was "in good spirits".
She had earlier carried out a medal presentation at Windsor Palace, where she has been resting over the weekend.
Edit:
Guys, she's already recovered

I think we're in the last decade of her monarchy, it's been a good 6 decades..
Well it's only a stomach bug, nothing too deadly. Even at the age of 86 a stomach bug is hardly lethal, right?
Also when she DOES finally pop her clogs, possibly before 2020, we could probably expect King Charles III to get on dat throne. Though personally it seems like our current monarchy is pretty weak; the Windsors are hardly Starks after all, even though the Starks are fictional and from a medieval timeframe.
No damn it, she needs to live until 11 September 2015 so she can overtake Victoria as the longest-reigning British monarch

When someone gets that old their immune system has gone to shit. A stomach bug that we would be able to shrug off might actually kill someone in their 80s and beyond.
I don't know why this makes me worry. I'm not British, and bow to no monarchs, but for some reason the change scares me. She's been queen longer than I've been alive.

She's been Queen longer than MOST people have been alive...
It's strange to think that there will be a day in the coming years when I'll look at the news and see that the Queen has died, or maybe I will hear it from someone I know
If Philip can get through what he had last year at 91, then she can surely get over this, I hope
The coverage can be grating. I quite like the Royals, but there is some unnecessary reporting. If she's abroad, fine: report it. We know she had gastro-enteritis for a few days now, so why has it been on BBC news for about 30 minutes?

on the bright side, you could die first!!

At the rate Elizabeth is going, he might die before she does.
Her mother lived to 101, she could have another decade in her yet.
When the queen die the funeral is going to be like when Kim jong kong died in Korea except people aren't being threatened with death to cry into the streets
Quickly, we need to develop this

This just in: Stomach Bug threatens Queen with "Final Destruction"
Seeing as she has access to the best healthcare in the world I don't think she will be going any time soon.
The Queen is quite the badass. She has a sharp wit (it appears to run in the family) and last year she went to over 400 events- ie more than one a day on a fair few days. If any 86-year-old can survive this, it's her.

Not to mention her (supporting) military service as Princess Elizabeth in WWII.
gastroenteritis
Ouch.

I will probably find out from you at this rate..
So anyway, has the Queen basically got the shits and has gone into hospital to continue shitting? I guess there is a risk of dehydration and all that.

Only if the royal guards get power armors with helmets that resemble their goofy hats.
Ouch.
Commonly known as stomach flu, it sounds horrible as hell. Its honestly not something I would wish on anyone.

Frankie Boyle has already been making jokes
if she dies will we get a day off school/work?

It's horrible walking to the shower, there's vomit all over you, shit trickling down your jeans
The worst thing is that it happens at exactly the same time.
I speak from experience

I am amused and sorry at the same time.

Seriously though, I hope she gets through it all right.

Unsurprisingly, survives.

The fucking boring ones like wills/kate/all the minor ones like beatrice or fergie can fuck off, they on't need any coverage. The only time I like the coverage is when they do something that I find funny, like prince andrew being an arms dealer or philip just being casually racist. TBH I'm in two minds about charles becoming king; on one hand it's charles but on the other hand it's fucking charles.
