Having a marine trucking around with a shoulder-mounted spotlight and toting heavy firearms just kind of kills the scary factor.
I completely agree with you guys that the flashlight made Doom great, and really added to the fear factor. I'm bummed they changed it. That said, I always wondered why in the year 2145 people were still toting around hand-held flashlights, while at the same time using Plasma Rifles on a massive Mars base.

It's not like the marines are supposed to fight any threat on freaking Mars so they just gave them some basic flashlights to go around in case the power went out. I'm pretty sure that at the end of Doom 3 you actually see marines sent there to actually fight stuff, and they are given weapon mounted flashlights. Oh and the plasma rifle wasn't used by the marines, it's an experimental weapon you find at some point of the game.

Carmack, when fans demanded Doom after RAGE's disappointment, we meant Doom 4.
Carmack, when fans demanded Doom after RAGE's disappointment, we meant Doom 3 reremasted for kinect.
I'm going to pretend to be them What? You want Doom 3 again? OK!
" and DOOM 3 now features the new armor-mounted flashlight, allowing players to illuminate dark corners and blast enemies at the same time." Excuse me but I thought not being able to see was the point of Doom 3? Get your adrenaline pumping and your gun shooting so the only way to can see is to use the basic weapons, or shoot often (mussel flashes)
We are in the casual age of gaming. People can't have challanges silly.
fucking casuals
Don't act surprised if by the time they come around to a HL2 ultra-HD remake they remove the cinder block puzzle entirely and have that panel leading straight up the ledge.
holy shit! nice, i love this game
I remember playing Halo 2 and Half-Life 2 around the same time and having much more fun with those. I'd probably buy this anyway.
What really made Doom 3 (and id games in general, excluding RAGE) great was the mods. I personally hope someone manages to pull a DayZ on Doom 3 and brings a really great mod that blows everything out of the water.

If the station was one giant map then perhaps but the game is divided in a lot of levels and that with multiplayer won't work out that well. Besides, there already is Doom 3 co-op (Half broken though)
I don't remember there being any of the mods really standing out. It really goes to show the difference between the first two and Doom 3.
Why is this necessarily exactly? Every computer can run doom 3, why port it to consoles? I have it running on my mom's microwave oven as I type.
My Computer can't, er not my desktop.
The trailer footage looks like the original game to me, then again, Doom 3 on ultra looks better than the average console game.
Speaking of Doom 3 The source code was released, were any games built upon it yet? There were so many awesome (and free) games built on the quake 3 code
Im just hoping it has an actual soundtrack. Maybe something simaler to this And better graphics obviously
Doom 3 has a soundtrack - it's done through ambience, and there's a hell of a lot of that. Aside from that there are quite a few actual minute-long soundtracks in the game that are just that good at blending in.

One during the cyberdemon cutscenes, and the menu theme
