i live on that bloody island and every time russia does something its always about them wanting to destroy this island and all inhabitants
just because once for like 150 years ago, russians put some troops on the island (without declaring war)... but then they promptly left
ofc the military only uses russia as an excuse to get larger government fundings
and because swedes really hate russia

I actually wanted to do the military service, I was the last batch that got the fill in those forms, but I guess I shouldn't have ticked for the "I'm going to study at university" thing.

Those of my friends at university who are older than me all signed the forms for military service but weren't drafted because they didn't seem all that willing :v:

So I don't think it was a huge change when going from conscription to no conscription, they more or less just made it more official that they didn't need that many people and only those absolutely willing should be there.

Yeah it's that world-championship hockey thing, they never let it go, one kid in my class apparently started to throw chairs at some guys that were celebrating our victory, he was Finnish and a angry one. Basically just finnish

Nah, by the time I graduate I'm going to be like 25. By now I just want to settle down, get a job or actually do something instead of just studying. I'm actually working on a project for the Försvarsmakten, so I guess that's the closest I'll get to anything military :v:

The only reason I can think of from the top of my head, is that you guys only sent 8000 soldiers to aid us during the Winter war, which was significantly less than we had expected.

But yeah, knowing my finnish relatives, the temper thing seems to hold true (more times than i'd like)
i think swedes should stop provoking and finns should stop getting provoked, since as recent events show theres something much worse in the east

Something about the Swedish military makes me think that brand new Swedish military vehicles come flat-packed, and you have to put them together with an allen wrench.

I'm actually part of the small minority in Finland that speaks Swedish, i.e my ancestors lived in Finland and spoke Swedish and it stuck with the generations.
But if Swedish is as hard to learn as Finnish is for me, I can understand the rage. Especially since there are what, max 200000 Swedish speaking Finns here. So for anyone living in the center or eastern parts of Finland, Swedish would be completely useless for them.
The end goal should to get the entire world speaking Swedish.
