If the south tried to secede again I wouldn't be against it, from a moral standpoint. Economically, I don't know how well it would go over, since I haven't studied too far into it.
Wait fuck no, nevermind, the rest of the US is the only thing keeping them from being totally horrible
This is a pretty funny Onion article.
Right guys?
Guys?
This can't be true. It takes a whole kind of idiotic stubborn mule to believe this crap.
11. Abstract algebra is too dang complicated: "Unlike the 'modern math' theorists, who believe that mathematics is a creation of man and thus arbitrary and relative, A Beka Book teaches that the laws of mathematics are a creation of God and thus absolute…A Beka Book provides attractive, legible, and workable traditional mathematics texts that are not burdened with modern theories such as set theory."—ABeka.com

I am a Christian, and I am seriously offended. I don't want to be associated with those fucktards all because I share the belief in the same God.
Also, didn't Bible say to respect and tolerate anyone no matter what? Because I'm pretty sure it DID say that. Good job actually following the word you say you follow...
The Bible? Heh. Who reads that ole' thing anymore? Just listen to your preacha. He'll tell ya everything ya need to know. Don't even need to think 'bout it.
no i'm just confused as to why christians would have a problem with emily dickinson and mark twain to the point of actually teaching against them.
i mean mark twain was a deist who was critical of organized religion in every respect, but i don't think that was prevalent in his books.
Twain and Dickinson published works that contained statements that disagree with their opinions on theology. That makes them morally bankrupt sinners.
if we were ever completely destroyed by Alien UFO's because of crazy shit like this I wouldn't bat an eye or be surprised if it was because they were actually scared of us.
There's no way this is real.
I went to a Christian elementary school in California, I recognize allot of those textbook brands and claims
Wait, wha
what the fuck do they have against set theory.
I love set theory
4. Africa needs religion: "Africa is a continent with many needs. It is still in need of the gospel…Only about ten percent of Africans can read and write. In some areas the mission schools have been shut down by Communists who have taken over the government."—Old World History and Geography in Christian Perspective, 3rd ed., A Beka Book, 2004
no fuckin thank you religious imperialism has only fucked up africa more
Am I the only one who wished the South actually seceded? By now, we would have forced out slavery from them if they still existed, yet most of our problems (which generally seem to gravitate from that terrible region) would be gone.
Think about it, fewer conservatives, likely no economic collapse, higher literacy rates and other great things, the USA would be much better without them.
Basically, the South sucks and causes more problems than it's worth.
5. Slave masters were nice guys: "A few slave holders were undeniably cruel. Examples of slaves beaten to death were not common, neither were they unknown. The majority of slave holders treated their slaves well."—United States History for Christian Schools, 2nd ed., Bob Jones University Press, 1991
It's funny because there actually is some truth to that.
It's funny because there actually is some truth to that.
Yeah I guess if you are denying human beings basic rights it's okay as long as you aren't beating them to death.
owning slaves is a cruel act in itself
6. The KKK was A-OK: "[The Ku Klux] Klan in some areas of the country tried to be a means of reform, fighting the decline in morality and using the symbol of the cross. Klan targets were bootleggers, wife-beaters, and immoral movies. In some communities it achieved a certain respectability as it worked with politicians."—United States History for Christian Schools, 3rd ed., Bob Jones University Press, 2001
I love how they tried to make the KKK sound like the good guys, but they still make them sound horrible. What's their definition of "immoral"?

What else did the Grand Wizard tell you?
At Eternity Christian Academy in Westlake, pastor-turned-principal Marie Carrier hopes to secure extra space to enroll 135 voucher students, though she now has room for just a few dozen. Her first- through eighth-grade students sit in cubicles for much of the day and move at their own pace through Christian workbooks, such as a beginning science text that explains "what God made" on each of the six days of creation. They are not exposed to the theory of evolution.
"We try to stay away from all those things that might confuse our children," Carrier said.
THIS IS LIKE SOME ONION BULLSHIT, WTC
this is like being in a race
and you turn around and starting driving the opposite direction
and then while doing that you stick your ass out the window and shit all over everything
then you crash into all the people trying to race normally and fuck everything up and there's shit and burning cars everywhere.
It doesn't seem like any of you understand what it was that I said.
The majority of slave owners didn't beat their slaves to death, since that would be incredibly bad for their business.
If you have oxen, and you use those oxen for cultivating land, and your entire well-being comes from cultivating and farming land, you do not beat the oxen to death.
Just because I said that slave owners did not mistreat their slaves, you all immediately assume I'm condoning slavery and am die-hard religious.

I think it's really what you define 'mistreat' as.
Personally, I think treating someone like an object, tearing families apart, and forcing them to do hard labor is mistreating them.

You know exactly what the writers meant given the context.
Brainwashing is one powerful tool

Remember when Fox News did a thing on that school where the kids were singing about Obama?
hawhawhawhawhaw
I say you take off and nuke the entire South from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
Mind purposely missing Kentucky? We have some pretty chill people, aside from the fact any county fare you go to at least 10 miles in has Dixieland flag toting idiots.
2. Dragons were totally real: "[Is] it possible that a fire-breathing animal really existed? Today some scientists are saying yes. They have found large chambers in certain dinosaur skulls…The large skull chambers could have contained special chemical-producing glands. When the animal forced the chemicals out of its mouth or nose, these substances may have combined and produced fire and smoke."—Life Science, 3rd ed., Bob Jones University Press, 2007
It's called a fucking brain. Obviously the person who fucking wrote this lacked one.

Its people like these(besides the whole crap I have been dealing with) that makes me lose faith. These fucking retards think anything that is against them is basically a communist socialist atheist muslim infidel. I didn't really read it, but you do have to tolerate/respect other people's opinions. I don't support some of the President's policies or some of my friend's or the parents of my brother's ex-wife(apparently) ideals/policies, but I don't really care, its their opinion.
This has to be fake, or satire. I mean, nearly everything is bullshit and seems to make people pissed off.
[sp]although, if dragons were real, that would probably be cool.[/sp]
10. Mark Twain and Emily Dickinson were a couple of hacks: "[Mark] Twain's outlook was both self-centered and ultimately hopeless…Twain's skepticism was clearly not the honest questioning of a seeker of truth but the deliberate defiance of a confessed rebel."—Elements of Literature for Christian Schools, Bob Jones University, 2001
"Several of [Emily Dickinson's] poems show a presumptuous attitude concerning her eternal destiny and a veiled disrespect for authority in general. Throughout her life she viewed salvation as a gamble, not a certainty. Although she did view the Bible as a source of poetic inspiration, she never accepted it as an inerrant guide to life."—Elements of Literature for Christian Schools, Bob Jones University, 2001
this is the biggest offense in my opinion!

Agreed. Mark Twain and Emily Dickinson have more writing talent in their little toe than these extremists have in their body combined. Hell, you can't compare the best authors of this generation(and most popular ones) to the ones like Twain or Dickinson.
you can't say "slavery was pretty good overall" then turn around and say "fetus slavery exists and is bad!" you fucking tools
you guys know that voucher schools are private schools, right?

does a voucher school help you earn a certified high school diploma when you graduate
