5 months to break a encryption scheme is quite a short amount of time, it should take much longer and you shouldn't be able to break it, only find weaknesses in it.

But, if there's a major flaw found in an encryption algorithm it should be publicised so something more secure will be used, the first response shouldn't be "How can we silence this?"
