Please, someone try and defend this
as I'm saying it's a blatant appeasement move for nutters who obsess over how gun control laws allegedly don't work in a city with historically strict gun [del]sale[/del] "control" laws
I'm not sure, but I don't think this is how you president.
he's deploying bikers for trump to bring safety to chicago
There are 30 Trump threads on this page only. If people keep this up, this subforum will be clogged up with Trump "news" for the next 4 years.
Donald Trump is one of the biggest stories in the world right now, so it's to be expected.
I would have suspected he would have done this for Detroit. Is Chicago really that much worse?
I would have suspected he would have done this for Detroit. The actual crime rate (per capita) falls far behind cities like Saint Louis and Detroit.

Atleast unlike 8 years of Obama (who worked in Chicago), Trump actually wants to do something about it within the 4th day of his presidency. I can tell you guys, everyone on the Trump side are ecstatic right now. The shootings and deaths in Chicago are ridiculous and action has been desperately needed for a long time.

The EPA has been frozen, nearly every environmental agency in the country has had a gag order put on it for any public discussion related to the climate, and now he is demanding that climate agency websites start actively purging public data related to climate change. God's sake. Trump is literally marching soldiers around US cities while purging facts and data that threaten his rhetoric, and ya'll are "ecstatic." Surely that should at least be somewhat concerning to you? If not, then what will it actually take for you to stop waving your giant foam fingers? Trump's rhetoric and action is more authoritarian than any president in modern history. It is almost unthinkable that this could be happening in the modern era.

Also, this is a city/state issue, not a Federal one in any way.
He hasn't even done anything yet
Funny, this is exactly what we were told when we expressed concern about Trump's climate policy. Yet, here we are reading headlines about his administration demanding that the EPA purge climate data from its website on the fifth day of his presidency. :saxout:
Like what the fuck is trump going to do in Chicago, tell me?

It didn't need to be done in New York for it to turn around it's murder rate. Why did Trump specifically pick Chicago anyway? When it comes to murder rate it's only the 24th highest in America. Other cities have bigger problems.
Whatever happened to leaving shit up to the states?
It's almost as if Chicago doesn't have an FBI office (it does)
so if you're celebrating a single tweet about him "doing something about chicago", please tell the class how you feel about the EPA gags, which have actually happened rather than just hot air on twitter
Talked about it here. He could have easily just forgotten about it and move on. Most likely he is talking about feds in a way that he would start to have an agency like the FBI investigate if the cities municipal don't start improving the situation. I think BDA mentioned he "literally" (lol) has armies marching around cities to keep them in subordination, but that is him just being a silly billy. If he is referring to Trump wanting a Military parade like that, then that is simply a ridiculous overreaction already discussed in the marching thread. You are only kidding yourself if you think the Trumpen Reich is actually ready to march down your street to give you nothing but intimidating looks and jack booted door kicks.

D-T! D-T!' over and over, regardless of the screams of the damned all around them.
remember when people feared obama doing this so much the texas national guard was mobilized? ya fuck
It's martial law not marshall law.
So what does this idiot have in store? Mobilizing the guard to march in the streets like some modern day SS?

He does not have the power to do that. That's not the question. The question is why does he think it's acceptable to threaten cities? He may not understand that it's a hollow threat, but simply making a threat is distressing. We're not scared that it is going to happen, we're alarmed that Trump is threatening martial law and/or extrajudicial review. Though you're good enough at it to call it your profession, please don't dodge questions.
He's gonna enstate the best martial law in Chicago, you won't believe it. No President will put Chicago under martial law like Trump will. /s This is some disgusting bluster from Scheissmeister Trump.
Are you implying that the cities are purposely not trying to improve their conditions?
Nope, but maybe they need to try new methods or do better considering this has been problem for quite awhile and something that is politically debated as a problem from both sides. Lol do you actually think I would be that heartless?
Nope, but maybe they need to try new methods or do better considering this has been problem for quite awhile and something that is politically debated as a problem from both sides.
Man, while I do agree that Democratic corruption has wrought untold damage on Chicago, this is not the solution. Cracking down on murder with martial law does nothing to address the real issues here. It's responding to violence with violence. Alternatively, if by "send in the Feds" means that he's going to appoint new city managers who will change the way the city works, then that's fine. If these new managers are going to change how Chicago works, then that's fine. It would still be illegal, considering the federal government has no authority over municipalities, but it would at least be comforting to know if Trump didn't mean he was threatening martial law. That still doesn't excuse the fact that Trump has made this threat on Twitter. That still doesn't excuse the fact that our 45th president makes these types of petulant threats on a social media platform.
Lol do you actually think I would be that heartless?
yeah kinda
