I'm all up for piracy because it gives freedom, it allows the consumer to boycott something even when you have no other choice because the company has a fucking monopoly, and it makes it easier in general to demand change.
I doubt digital distribution would be as popular as it is right now if it wasn't for the need to compete with the pirates. Make something more convenient than a torrent site and it's obvious what everyone is going to pick.
No, digital distribution would be popular regardless. It's ease of access. Why would go to a GameStop or Best Buy and buy Call of Duty when you can buy it on Steam with pretty much no tax and about a 2-4hr download time?

Well...Actually...
Becaus you get a physical copy, you get it immediately (don't have to download it), you get to go outside, talk to people, feel the weather, feel good about opening the box, put in the disc, input the cd key, play.

Also knowing that if Steam ever dies, you still have your games.

The more ethical way to boycott something is to not buy it.

No, I'm saying that this piece of shit

isn't worth 50 bucks.
If game developers aren't going to make games worth the insanely inflated price tags, people WILL end up pirating them instead of buying them.

If it's not worth it, don't play it? It's a piece of shit anyway.
