...wait, your IP is American. A cox IP, which is a company that almost exclusively serves the mainland United States.
I'm on holiday to Florida, which is what brought the (To me) ridiculously low prices of most everything, especially gas, to my attention.
It's not really wasting when multiple states by themselves are bigger than your country...
I've been to the US and the fuel wasting was incredible. The cars were super huge, air conditioning always running even when opening a windows would've done. But the most incredible thing was the seize of the cars. As soon as we came out of the city almost everyone drove a huge frigging pickup and don't tell me people need them because in 9 of 10 cases the back was empty and only 1 or 2 persons in the car.
Oh stop your moaning America, we pay $1.50 a litre here in Australia, which works out to be $6 a gallon. (the US and Aussie dollar on par with eachother). You can't use the public transport excuse with us, we have less of it than you
I'm on holiday to Florida, which is what brought the (To me) ridiculously low prices of most everything, especially gas, to my attention.
Not every place in the US is like that part of FL. Some parts here are 4.20 a gallon. And others get cheaper.
We need superior electric cars and more nuclear/renewable energy.
What the environmental costs to manufacture electric cars? An electric car is just a box with wheels filled with nasty acids, and rare metals. Those metals need to be mined. You also need to charge them, so they're not 100% off the grid. Nuclear energy is just as dirty as fossil fuel plants. What's going to power the water-coolant pumps? It sure isn't going to be another nuclear power plant. What are you going to do with all the spent nuclear rods? Bury them? Where? There seems to be no technological fix to our problems.
I'm on holiday to Florida, which is what brought the (To me) ridiculously low prices of most everything, especially gas, to my attention.
The prices seem much less than what they actually are when you don't have to pay for health/home/flood/car insurance or save up for retirement. Or commute daily, for that matter.
And for further clarification, I more or less understand you guys' whining now, due to your low payrates. I just find the "Your public transport is better, so your gas is more expensive" answer I usually get to be borderline offensively stupid. Less money explained it, I understand now, get yer panties unpinched.

Most SUV's and trucks are wasteful as fuck and only driven on paved roads, this is a bad habit that needs to be broken.

In america that's a lot due to our poor economy.
Also the miniscule taxes compared to yours
Well, I'd rather avoid the tax-argument, 'cause if I bring taxes into it, then my much-higher-than-yours payrate suddenly dissapears right out the window, which ruins my version of your gas-price-whining-justification. So let's leave my 50% income tax and 25% sales tax on top of something-something% fuel tax to fuel my something-else% car-weight-tax and all that out of it, it's 2:50 and I don't wanna do math.
it's funny that america says "well you have public transport", when public transport isn't free. it's actually fucking expensive, I spend 25 dollars every day going to school on public transport, I'm guessing it would cost me about 10 if I drove there.

http://www.mytravelcost.com/petrol-prices/ Note how all the countries where the price of gas is low, such as in the US or South America, there is no universal healthcare.
I'm on holiday to Florida, which is what brought the (To me) ridiculously low prices of most everything, especially gas, to my attention.
wow you hate america and trashy talk it but you just cant pass up a vacation to florida listen bud its ok if youre a hypocrite just say so but dont offend me and my nation of america

You don't need to pay $1000-4000 a year on insurance if you ride the bus.
No you're right, I just realised we don't drive everywhere in the UK. Question? Do you drive all across America? If not then that point is null and void.
I drive about 60 miles per day most days. I'll be making a 1200 mile both ways journey in 2 days and do that once every couple of months. That's Plymouth to Glasgow 3 times
Well yes, of course, but our nationwide public transport will never be as efficient as in the UK simply because of the vast distances we have to cover. We won't have a nationwide network of high speed rails for decades. I wish we could have it sooner because that would be bloody awesome but it's just not going to happen.
Well no, it's never going to be perfect, but it's better to try (in the case of high-speed rail and new rail construction, whether metro or above-ground) and have a 'not great' system than not try and leave people without cars and long distances to go in the dust. As for the transit not covering long distances (so not Amtrak), it can be managed state by state and city by city, without having to have one central authority trying to manage it all. There would of course need to be federal oversight, though.
or Geneva, Switzerland to Budapest, Hungary
wow you hate america and trashy talk it but you just cant pass up a vacation to florida listen bud its ok if youre a hypocrite just say so but dont offend me and my nation of america
Don't mind me, I'm just here, seducing all your women with my superior European-educated brain and sexy European accent, then impregnating them with my glorious European seed to make an insurgency of European-loving Americans to elect European politicians 18 years from now. Angela Merkel 2030.
hasn't the rest of the world been paying the equivalent of 6 dollars a gallon for a long time now?

I can pay $5 for a daypass and go pretty much anywhere in SoCal.
hasn't the rest of the world been paying the equivalent of 6 dollars a gallon for a long time now?
ok and
Wow, sucks for you. I can pay $5 for a daypass and go pretty much anywhere in SoCal.
If I wanted to use public transport to get into Glasgow city centre I would have to pay 4 quid to get the bus to my local train station then another 5 quid for a single into Glasgow, then do the same to get back home. Welcome to the UK, where public transport prices are fucking ludicrous and everyone tries to milk you dry for your money.
yeah dumb americans stop complaining so what if your entire economy relies on cheap gasoline that goes into the countless trucks that supply goods across the country
ok and
and what? it's a question lol
your on thin ice,
It's fine, we're used to people becoming hostile in the face of superiority, it's okay buddy. :glomp:

I had the impression that the U.K. had pretty decent public transportation. Maybe I'm confusing it with some other European country. A good point to make is that our vehicle use more gasoline.
