Can't Obama just veto it? Why would they bother?
Favors for the money "donators."
Haha, it'll take another 10 years for us Europeans to copy the US and implement it. Go EU!
Jesus these fuckers just don't take the hint do they? Personally I think they're doing a bit of an uphill battle here really, 50+ year old politicians trying to change something they don't understand, against an entire generation of people who know how to actually network and synergize to get something done.
Can't Obama just veto it? Why would they bother?
"Look elder voters and corporate asses, we tried! Keep voting us in and we'll keep trying!"
This fight will never end
I hope the fucking GOP crashes and burns come next presidential election
You know, I've always thought that there has to be at least some genuine liberal conservative convictions in the GOP. But I don't even know. With stories like this, especially the campaign funding from the PACs part, I'm more inclined to believe that the sole purpose of the GOP is simply to be a whore for wealthy interests for changing the laws. The sad thing is that there are probably more than a few genuine liberal conservatives in the GOP, but those men and women are probably only at the local government level.
How do the people of the united states assert their democracy in getting rid of GOP altogether? This party should not exist.
Before getting rid of them, we need to figure out who is to replace them. We can't have total Democrat dominance.
Before getting rid of them, we need to figure out who is to replace them. We can't have total Democrat dominance.
There's no way the GOP is going away. They have an entire propaganda network to convince people of whatever they want. All they have to do is have Fox News tell people that, say, they should support the XL pipeline, and millions of people, young and old, will zealously defend it, even though pretty much the only people that will benefit from it are investors.
Fucking scumbags, go cash your lobbyist checks you fucking weasels.

Logic, research, and compassion all fail to make headway. We can't seem to legislate our way out of this be a use they gum up the works. I don't know how we fix this, short of violence. Frankly we'd probably even lose the violence route because they have a never ending supply of blind followers. I don't see a way out of this loop.
It's a good thing we have obamers veto
Honestly the GOP has been ruining its public image. I think people are starting to love to hate them, and hopefully that will end up in them having less power. I think if you wanted to get rid of the GOP you would need to make some headway in showing people what they are doing. If they have a so-called propaganda network, build a rival one and undermine theirs.
jeez the hate for republicans is real on FP I should probably go hide.
I hope the fucking GOP crashes and burns come next presidential election
I'm actually really scared that the republicans might win next election most of the progress that obama has made will be for nothing if the republicans win
jeez the hate for republicans is real on FP I should probably go hide.
The hate is well founded because most republicans are fucking idiots that just want to line their pockets with cash while the citizens of the US suffer with bloated internet prices and monopolies of ISP's in their areas I hope Google Fiber destroys the ISP's or makes them lower prices by a large margin (Not saying you are an idiot tho <3)
jeez the hate for republicans is real on FP I should probably go hide.
No we just hate the stupid ones. You're good unless you take bribes, try to pray away gays/blacks/muslims/obama, and/or have a really fucked up view on rape.
So fuckin' tired of the republican party now. Literally every good thing that happens in the US has to be battled by these dumbasses.

And lets be real here, ALL politicians take bribes.
No we just hate the stupid ones. You're good unless you take bribes, try to pray away gays/blacks/muslims/obama, and/or have a really fucked up view on rape.
I'm fiscally republican. I am pro gay rights, marriage etc. I'm Catholic but don't use it as a fucking strict guideline, only follow its values. I despise Obama cuz he's fucked the medical system but at the same time i think it's silly when people say he's worse than Putin. The only republicans I have a problem with are the bible humpers who would blow Jesus at any given moment because they put down everyone for not being part of the "elite." In my experience however, they are a minority. I feel as if we Republicans are being misrepresented in the government by the people who say they are representing our views but really are just pushing their agenda cuz lel money
Marsha Blackburn is the same moron who tried to debate climate change with Bill Nye.
Memes on aerial advertising really did work wonders right? Totally didn't see this coming.
jeez the hate for republicans is real on FP I should probably go hide.
i don't hate republicans, i hate the GOP there's a big difference - my grandparents are all republican but even they know the current congress is laughable, they don't feel represented, they don't hate obama, they're reasonable people who hold different views than I do and that's fine, that's why the government is built to compromise on different ideas. the GOP is fanatical and relies on bottom-feeding dirty tactics to discredit anyone they disagree with, they refuse to compromise, they're not representative of the majority of their constituents, and they've gone so far over the edge it's hard to tell when they're being satirized. They're like the reality TV of politics - catering to the worst of the worst and expecting that low-effort content is going to keep their platform afloat.
how does this affect other countries or rather, DOES it affect other countries?
how does this affect other countries or rather, DOES it affect other countries?
Presumably companies that don't pony up extra cash to have their traffic prioritised, should that sort of system be implemented, would run slower for everyone and not just Americans. Stuff like the end-user being charged for access to extra sites would not conceivably affect anyone outside the US unless one's own dumbshit politicians decide to copy this.

Actual implementation depends on how comically villanous one's local ISP monopoly is. [editline]6th March 2015[/editline] Also worth noting big Internet sites like Google tend to have servers all over the world, so those would not be affected by even the worst throttling that could be implemented in the US.
It isn't gonna go anywhere, net neutrality has a lot of support, and like SOPA those cosponsors are gonna back peddle when lots get pissed off.
"Internet Freedom Act" the irony
