Nintendo's marketing was a colossal flop over here. No WiiU commercials. No demos at the local active model, only ads. 40 minutes away there was one with one demo, for a 2D game that didn't use the tablet.

It's usually just Rayman or Super Mario Bros, but the demo system at a near by Best Buy has Lego City for their demo.
Supply and demand. Most people with any sort of opinion about Nintendo fall into three groups: People that will only buy games from Nintendo's established IPs, People that will buy both established and new IPs, and people that won't buy anything from Nintendo. New IPs won't attract two of those groups and the last is content with established IPs, so why bother?
They still make new IP's. on the wii and 3ds shop channels they have bad a few. I'm sure they will put out new ones on the Wii U, or revive some really classic ones like they did with kid Icarus and sin and punishment.
Don't think it would work since as said before, Nintendo likes to create games around their hardware. I still have faith that Nintendo will pull through. The Wii U just needs some nice exclusives. The 3DS had a poor start but now it's slowly gaining traction with games like Fire Emblem and the new Animal Crossing.
It would be nice if there were less exclusives honestly, dislike owning a jumble of consoles just to play a few games. Doubt Nintendo would do it anywho, exclusives is like there last card in there hand that keeps people buying there consoles.

I doubt the 360 would be as popular if Halo was on PC. Less exclusives would be nice but that's how consoles sell.
Think of it this way: What if there were no exclusives, and every developper ever made games on an unique platform? What if that platform was the Xbox One? Exclusives allow the customer to have the choice.
The tablet?
True, but are they utilizing it creatively? For example, a few friends of mine and I had the idea of a DnD/Pathfinder like RP game for the Wii U. The DM would have control of the tablet, allowing to create the world in front and the players would have Wiimotes + Nunchucks for control of their characters. A small market of people yes, but its an effective use of the tablet IMO.
This would be nice but I am not idealistic. If they would do that, the market for the WII basically collaspes since this is the only thing that keeps the wii/Wiiu going. (and it is ironic from eidos releasing fucking deus ex on ipad????).

If they did this I might actually play a few of their games.

But ZombiU's multiplayer is really fun, I just wish it had some form of online play. Like some coop mode where four player have to look for supplies and ammo, and then after a certain amount if time they need to regroup and defent themselves from a horde if zombies. And they can board up doors and set traps. Maybe they'll put that in the second game since apparently a new one is already in the works.
