Nine Afghan boys collecting firewood killed by NATO helicopters

RPG!
Oh shit never mind it was a kid with a log.
They could have been mistaken for placing IED's though. The cameras gun ships use aren't super high resolution.

I agree, I was about to say something similar. The first post made it seem like they have HD camera's when they don't. In fact, the cameras they use to spot targets from a helicopter have a very poor quality video feed, so it would be very easy to mistake a strange black shape (roughly the same size as a weapon) as a firearm or explosive device.

US army airforce:
targets: practically none
american troops: 6000
british servicemen: 400000
civillians: 50000

Please tell you were just making that up and not actually being serious.
"Dipshit--- I mean SUSPECT has a weapon!"
"This is a tier 1 situation WE NEED EVERYTHING YOU HAD YESTERDAY!!!"
Yes this is (Slightly) on topic with the way that they misidentified the targets. And yes, those lines above were from actual radio recordings from unrelated incidents.

Who's gonna put IEDs in the middle of the woods? Not gonna snag many Hummers doing that.
People seem to forget that this shit has been going on for hundreds or maybe thousands of years, now we just hear about these things more often because of reporting capabities. Although tragic, this is war. A dumb war, maybe, but put yourself in the shoes of a NATO soldier before you judge them.
Not good for their image there, but this stuff happens all the time anyway so it's not like it's a surprise to them. Can't think of any technological way to fix the problem so it's just learn from it and try to be a little more reluctant to shoot.

No doubt, the number of people killed by other invaders is enormous and the number NATO forces have killed is almost insignificant compared to them. Still, a death is a death and they're still going to be pissed about it. I agree that it's not the soldier's fault completely, more of the system and the war itself. Doesn't mean we can't strive to perfect it.
What shit parent lets their kids run off in a war torn country at night? Can't blame NATO, blame the shit parents.
"Run off"? They had to get wood.
This isn't Vietnam, there are rules.
Wow, I hadn't heard about this. Do you have a source? This seems like a pretty big failure somewhere along the line.
Iranian airliner actually. Shows that advanced military technology can and will go wrong.
They blame the NATO troops, but it was the attackers that caused the troops to try to fight back. All the blame goes to the retards who attacked the base one way or another.

No-one takes all the blame, everyone has a share in it. The limited capabilities of the aircraft, the pilots error in judgement, command for giving them permission when it was still in doubt, it's everyone's fault. No point pointing fingers when all you can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Never heard of dismounted patrols?
the term apologist needs to stop being used
the guys fucked up. end of story. they aren't monsters or war mongering criminals. they did their job; it's just they did it wrong.
when a us marine fucks up, someone fucked up.
when a british soldier fucks up, someone fucked up.
stop pointing fingers and bashing people
stop the violets

Rules in war, good joke.

Geneva Convention.

Even greater joke.

If you think so.
I wonder how many people would be killed in the U.S if there were foreign helicopters shooting anyone that had anything that looked like a gun, let alone a gun itself.
Hmm

Obesity would kill us quicker. There's no way you can harm us more than we're already harming ourselves.

Look at these captured RPGs.
I don't know what people want out of this, they made a mistake; not deliberately murdering someone. They have to live with that for the rest of their lives and that's going to be enough.
We need to just jump ship. You can't force the ideals of a democracy on these guys anyways. We are making too many mistakes over there. I wish the US government would just admit they fucked up, and pull all the troops home.
NATO. Not US.
NATO. Not US.
yes, it was the US once again.
Two US choppers were called in and fired on who they thought were the insurgents in the area they were told the rockets were coming from.
It turned out to be 10 boys gathering firewood. Nine of them were killed.
“We had made a terrible mistake,” Rodriguez says in the video. “These incidents are rare.”
