• Got banned from Xbox Live? ALL your games are now unplayable, and MS won't say whether you can still

Yeah, that's pretty much the worst idea ever. "You want me to spend potentially thousands of dollars on games knowing that at any time I could be banned for a completely arbitrary reason and all that money goes down the drain? HA!"
I thought Valve changed their policy on losing all your games. afaik: The current Steam Policy if you account gets locked/Steam banned is you lose all access to the Store, Steam Workshop, Steam Market Place, and pretty much all functionality aside from playing the games you already own. Can anyone back me up?
I would be OK with this if they had a steam like ban system where you only get banned if you try to commit fraud to get free shit. They need to implement community bans before this. Disable customizing profiles if they put up things that aren't allowed. Disable messaging if they are harassing people. Temporarily disable online play if they are getting multiple reports of being a fuckin dick. Disable online play completely if there is solid evidence of hacking. Until they stop the "any infraction = ban" i'm avoiding the xbox one like the plague, seeing as it sounds like it disables my physical disk games as well.
Sorry, when I buy a game. I bought a game, not a license to play it with, or a temporary lend out, I bought the game. That belongs to me now and I'm not going to let someone take it out of my hands. Fuck you Microsoft.
I remember a story about someone getting banned because they mentioned they were gay or something in their live bio.
It's going to be funny as hell when news reports start coming up of people moaning because they just lost multiple hundred dollars of games and the console because they had "dicks" on their profile description.
I'm Vac'd and I still play
Vac is not a steam account ban.
Sorry, when I buy a game. I bought a game, not a license to play it with, or a temporary lend out, I bought the game. Fuck you Microsoft.
Actually you did buy a license, you have been for every single game you've bought in over the last ten years.
I got banned from CoD once for having a Nazi gamercard. I haven't bought a CoD since. If you give your customers the choice to make any avatar you want without saying what is restricted, then you shouldn't have given me the option.
Yeah I heard of this, but you can just get the account back via steam support anyway.
Yeah, after a couple weeks I still don't like how quick companies are to take thousands of dollars of games away from customers though
Don't they ban you if someone gifts you a game then they file a chargeback
Afaik steam notifies you that the game was revoked, no you don't get banned.
It is really hard to get permanently banned from xbox live, you can pretty much swear as much as you want and will never get punished for it.
This probably also applies that if you're banned from MP from a game such as Halo or CoD, you can't even resell the game. [editline]14th June 2013[/editline]
It is really hard to get permanently banned from xbox live, you can pretty much swear as much as you want and will never get punished for it.
I think they have a thing that adds time to each ban until you get permabanned (Unless you're a hacker/modder). Kind of like the 3 strikes law. I got banned for my bio for 1 day, then banned for my reputation level for 1 week, then banned for my bio again for 2 weeks. People abused the shit out of the Reputation banning.
Somehow I have never been banned and I swear like every time I die. CoD has always had a way of getting the turrets out of me.
It is really hard to get permanently banned from xbox live, you can pretty much swear as much as you want and will never get punished for it.
Of course you'd be the one defending this.
Of course you'd be the one defending this.
Again, i'm not defending it. But ok.
It is really hard to get permanently banned from xbox live, you can pretty much swear as much as you want and will never get punished for it.
Yes, but, consoles are about discs and sharing games, not binding physical discs permanently to an account and then them becoming useless if you're banned. This isn't digital distribution, binding games is bullshit.
too bad that the codbros they make their money off of don't give a shit
At this point Microsoft should just give up and stick to what they're good at; Operating Systems.
Afaik steam notifies you that the game was revoked, no you don't get banned.
No it just disappears from your games library. If you still have it installed it has the little buy button. That's what happened to me, anyway.
I got banned for having the word "jizz" in my bio. They get really anal about little things.
Thats why I love steam, because I can put shit in my name and not get in any trouble.
So we don't really own the game. We just own the license to play the game.
I really think there should be some law about this whole "you don't own the game, just a license to play it" kind of thing.
At least as of recently, getting VAC banned DOESN'T lock you out of the games you already own, just playing them online. Also, each game has it's own specific VAC ban
So we don't really own the game. We just own the license to play the game.
Again, just like Steam.
Got banned from Steam? ALL your games are now unplayable, and Valve says you can't still sell/trade them in
Except when was the last time you sold/traded in a PC game. Or bought a pre-used one. Please, do tell. (Also, there's not really a "banned from Steam"; but there's VAC ban which disables you only from playing on VAC-protected servers which only applies to Source-based games. If there is such thing as a total account lock-down, for any reason other than credit/charge-frauds, then I don't know about it.) :v:
there's a difference between vac'd and banned from steam.
Wait, how the fuck do you get banned from Steam entirely?
Again, just like Steam.
Yes. A downside of steam. Doesn't make it acceptable to apply this "you only own the license haha banned" shit to physical versions of games.
I've never once heard of anyone getting banned outside of VAC on Steam though.
Got banned from Steam? ALL your games are now unplayable, and Valve says you can't still sell/trade them in
that's wrong fuck, people need to stop fucking bringing this up, if you get banned you're blocked from the community shit and buying games, you can still play your games I don't know if that's true if you do a chargeback and get caught, but just getting banned for abuse you can still play your games
