Wait, how the fuck do you get banned from Steam entirely?
Yeah, I've never heard of anyone been banned from Steam entirely. I've heard of people getting VAC banned and banned from community discussions but never a complete account ban. If you get banned from steam entirely you must of done something really awful.
I've been told credit card fraud and hacked steam keys completely block your account.
Thats why I love steam, because I can put shit in my name and not get in any trouble.
I've had the worst names forever and no issues period "ARacistRainbow" on XBL I had to change though. A purely satirical name.
They just keep on digging that hole deeper and deeper, don't they?
Doesn't make it acceptable to apply this "you only own the license haha banned" shit to physical versions of games.
Well, I'm sure several companies would disagree with the idea of you "owning" your physical games. Or in Sony's case a few years ago, your console.
At least as of recently, getting VAC banned DOESN'T lock you out of the games you already own, just playing them online. Also, each game has it's own specific VAC ban
I wish it was game specific. I am banned in all source games but L4D and L4D2
FUCKING crooks. That is all Microsoft amounts to in my eyes. I love my 360 elite. I really do. But this is a scandalous crock of shit. Here Sony. You can have my money this time.
How is Microsoft even relevant at this point. They've gone above and beyond from shooting themselves in the foot. They've unloaded an entire mag into both their feet, reloaded, unloaded another mag into their abdomen and blew off one of their knee caps for good measure. Pretty soon that gun is going to be raised to their head.
???
As it was said, you almost can't get truly banned from Steam, even if they restrict your account for doing shady shit, such as using a stolen credit card, they don't remove your ability to play your games. I do deeply hate VAC though, permanently and irrevocably removes your ability to play MP on VAC enabled servers, without warning, and across all games on that particular game engine, IE get VAC banned from HL2:DM, can't play MP on VAC servers on CSS, CSGO, L4D, L4D2, etc. Not sure if it's still like that, and there's lots of times with false positives, like with the CoD:MW2 incident.
Then don't cheat, asshole.
How do you get banned from Live?
I once boosted achievements in Halo 3 by making some private matches and got banned for a week. Also you get banned for any "naughty" words in your profile.
The german consumer rights organization will have a field day with the Xbone
Banning people for that will cause problems. They should only ban for extreme circumstances like Steam does. Hacking or chargebacks for example.
Microsoft being reasonable is too much to ask for considering their track record. Nobody considering buying alot of games should consider buying the XBox one with such high risks of losing everything.
Got banned from Steam? ALL your games are now unplayable, and Valve says you can't still sell/trade them in
uh wtf are you talking about? You don't get banned in CoD for being banned in TF2. You're just trying to stir shit up
I'm serious here, how is this even legal? You buy the physical games (so not even the {in my opinion absurd} "you don't own the game it is not physical, you are just licensed" argument for Steam works here) so how can they just not let you play your games? I wonder what EU would say about this. And what happens if you buy a new Xbone, can you then play with your old games again or do you have to buy them again?
Again, just like Steam.
when will you people learn. People are willing to trade off some of their freedoms with Steam in exchange for Steam sales. Comparing anything to Steam that doesn't have sales like Steam is pretty much trolling and you know it. For example it is fair to compare Origin to Steam because Origin has good sales comparable to Steam (with respect to differences in how many games each store carry)

Comparing anything to Steam that doesn't have sales like Steam is pretty much trolling and you know it.
While you are completely right (both on people giving up freedoms for sales and that this is not comparable to Steam) I still feel when you set aside the fanboyism Steam creates (mostly through sales) it is not the perfect solution and I don't agree with many of their practices.

Amazon. idk. It's not like any other digital service has taken off quite like Steam. Allot of other services that offer lots of cool things are still small in their userbase, but they are growing (Origin)

The result was VAC thought everyone had modified binaries.
I should probably say that this isn't even true for the Xbox One. It's for the Xbox 360. https://twitter.com/xboxsupport1/status/345775684045660160

The whole gaming community is watching them and marking down every single mistake and embracing every bit of misinformation.

https://twitter.com/xboxsupport1/status/345775684045660160
If everything is tied to your account, and your account gets banned, you lose all your stuff. It's a given. Everything is account tied on xbox one last I checked.
Microsoft seriously needs to be more careful right now. The whole gaming community is watching them and marking down every single mistake and embracing every bit of misinformation.
It has been said many times before. MS can not communicate with their consumers very well.
My brother put "Souls Please." on his description and got permabanned on XBL.
I'm beginning to think not even a satire news site could make this shit up. God damnit microsoft what the fuck are you doing?
I'm beginning to think not even a satire news site could make this shit up. God damnit microsoft what the fuck are you doing?
Got stuck at the bottom of the last page. They are referring to the Xbox 360.
Got stuck at the bottom of the last page. https://twitter.com/xboxsupport1/status/345775684045660160
Still applies to the xbox one, seeing as everything is tied to your account.
Still applies to the xbox one, seeing as everything is tied to your account.
Uh huh. Have any evidence to support that claim?
but on steam you an still play SP games
Microsoft seriously needs to be more careful right now. The whole gaming community is watching them and marking down every single mistake and embracing every bit of misinformation.
Well, I'm pretty sure that if you get banned on the Xbox 360 you can still play disk games, they're just trying really hard to backpedal
Got banned from Steam? ALL your games are now unplayable, and Valve says you can't still sell/trade them in
That's only in the case of criminal activity or other such things. Being VAC banned is the equivalent of being Xbox Live banned, but even that's only in the case of actual cheating rather than the wider range of things you can get banned from Xbox Live for.
