doesn't mean they have the right to ban porn. on what grounds do they justify it?
It's a form of punishment. Regardless he still has the right and ability to satisfy his own sexual needs. That's not saying I personally approve, but to call it unconstitutional is silly.
I take it he doesn't get enough action in the shower?
So what, why should we provide healthcare to criminals when we wont even provide it to the homeless?
or people that have homes [editline]4th July 2011[/editline]
Since when does porn manifest itself in a physiological way? Oh right, that's called sex. Porn is not a need in any way.
I feel like being in a prison with guys for many years without any release of your sexual urges is not a good idea, and sounds like torture to tell you the truth. [editline]4th July 2011[/editline] well i mean they do get to release their urges sometimes but not always in the way they like or...well, not very enjoyably i suppose.
It's a form of punishment. Regardless he still has the right and ability to satisfy his own sexual needs.
sounds like a cruel and unusual type of punishment in my opinion. now where have i heard that before...
Oh god, no free porn. How evil of them.
jesus christ you guys are arguing about porn availability it's a prison, it's a punishment, i think that depriving someone of porn is the least of their worries
sounds like a cruel and unusual type of punishment in my opinion. now where have i heard that before...
Yes, but what constitutes cruel and unusual? This particular inmate is calling it deprivation, but he's still free to jack-off, his libido is lowered the same way.
So what, why should we provide healthcare to criminals when we wont even provide it to the homeless?
I think they already do
Boo hoo the constitution. Just get rid of the damned thing if it causes so many problems.
Boo hoo the constitution. Just get rid of the damned thing if it causes so many problems.
Yup that sounds reasonable. [editline]4th July 2011[/editline] Replace or ammend maybe, but not remove.
i guess we don't have to give them toilets either right
Toilets are put in place for hygiene reasons, porn is recreation and is thus not required.
Oh god, no free porn. How evil of them.
they also ban it, i'm not saying they have to provide it, i'm saying they have no grounds to ban it. [editline]4th July 2011[/editline]
Toilets are put in place for hygiene reasons, porn is recreation and is thus not required.
give me the studies that show shitting in a hole in the ground is less sanitary than using a toilet.
give me the studies that show shitting in a hole in the ground is less sanitary than using a toilet.
Let's see, with toilets you can flush the shit away to a sewage management plant somewhere, with a ground hole it piles up and attracts insects. Are you a downie, by any chance? (User was banned for this post ("Trolling" - Starpluck))
Yes, but what constitutes cruel and unusual? This particular inmate is calling it deprivation, but he's still free to jack-off, his libido is lowered the same way.
i think the entire way the us does prisons is cruel and unusual but in this instance, its a sexual type of punishment basically. how is that NOT cruel and unusual. [editline]4th July 2011[/editline]
Let's see, with toilets you can flush the shit away to a sewage management plant somewhere, with a ground hole it piles up and attracts insects. Are you a downie, by any chance?
have running water under it that takes the shit away, problem solved. i didn't mean literally a hole in the ground. think a little will you?
i think the entire way the us does prisons is cruel and unusual but in this instance, its a sexual type of punishment basically. how is that NOT cruel and unusual.
I agree with the former statement, but can you describe how exactly it is cruel and unusual? What differentiates this from the fact that they aren't hiring hookers for inmates and installing strip clubs in jails? Once again, I'm not against pornography in prisons, but it's not cruel and unusual.
they also ban it, i'm not saying they have to provide it, i'm saying they have no grounds to ban it. [editline]4th July 2011[/editline] give me the studies that show shitting in a hole in the ground is less sanitary than using a toilet.
Why would you put a hole in the ground that has to be cleaned out by someone when you can put a toilet in that is connected to a sewer system? [editline]4th July 2011[/editline]
i think the entire way the us does prisons is cruel and unusual but in this instance, its a sexual type of punishment basically. how is that NOT cruel and unusual. [editline]4th July 2011[/editline] have running water under it that takes the shit away, problem solved. i didn't mean literally a hole in the ground. think a little will you?
How the fuck are you supposed to get a running stream on multiple stories?
Why would you put a hole in the ground that has to be cleaned out by someone when you can put a toilet in that is connected to a sewer system? [editline]4th July 2011[/editline] How the fuck are you supposed to get a running stream on multiple stories?
a slope. hole in the ground can be connected to sewer system. imagine it to be more like opening a manhole and shitting in it. [editline]4th July 2011[/editline]
I agree with the former statement, but can you describe how exactly it is cruel and unusual?
they are banning pornographic materials on absolutely no basis to punish the inmates. its cruel and unusual.
Punishment isn't cruel and unusual when administered to criminals.
a slope. hole in the ground can be connected to sewer system. imagine it to be more like opening a manhole and shitting in it.
Yeah, and the entire prison will smell like shit. Toilets are a necessity as they are used to prevent smell & disease from returning into your home. Porn is a commodity, and has no benefit towards the user.
a slope. hole in the ground can be connected to sewer system. imagine it to be more like opening a manhole and shitting in it.
Not only would t hat probably be an absolute pain in the ass it to build, but it is probably far less hygienic and an absolute pain in the ass to maintain. In the end toilets are far more hygienic and convenient Buying porn however is just a waste of assets that could be spent on educational material that will help to rehabilitate individuals.
Punishment isn't cruel and unusual when administered to criminals.
yes using sexual frustration to punish hundreds of men locked in the same building together for years isn't cruel and unusual at all. sounds like a dominatrix fantasy if you ask me. [editline]4th July 2011[/editline]
Not only would t hat probably be an absolute pain in the ass it to build, but it is probably far less hygienic and an absolute pain in the ass to maintain. [editline]4th July 2011[/editline]
Yeah, and the entire prison will smell like shit.
yes using sexual frustration to punish hundreds of men locked in the same building together for years isn't cruel and unusual at all. sounds like a dominatrix fantasy if you ask me.
Once again, they can jack off and fantasize as much as they please.
Once again, they can jack off and fantasize as much as they please.
okay lets look at the basics here 1. they banned porn 2. they have no justification to do this 3. they did this to punish the convicts effective or not, this is still a punishment, and is cruel and unusual, because seriously, why the fuck would you do that to a buncha men locked up in the same place for years?
when did i say buy them porn. i said don't ban it. try reading what i'm posting sometime. it's a bit hard to rehabilitate people when you take basic rights from people.
First off, the U.S. Prison System is just as much, if not more so, a place of punishment than it is of rehabilitation and as much as I disagree with that, that isn't unconstitutional. Secondly, claiming that denial of sexual relief is a violation of basic rights is one thing, but claiming that banning pornographic material for incarcerated is a violation of basic rights is silly. [editline]4th July 2011[/editline]
okay lets look at the basics here 1. they banned porn 2. they have no justification to do this 3. they did this to punish the convicts effective or not, this is still a punishment, and is cruel and unusual, because seriously, why the fuck would you do that to a buncha men locked up in the same place for years?
It's quite arbitrary and that is a sign of 8th Amendment Violations, but really pretty much all punishments are arbitrary compared to rehabilitation. Anyway, in order for it to qualify as cruel and unusual is must be either severe and arbitrary or condemned by all of society and a breach of human dignity. And whether or not it's severe is very questionable.
Boo hoo the constitution. Just get rid of the damned thing if it causes so many problems.
You better not be serious on that one.
okay lets look at the basics here 1. they banned porn 2. they have no justification to do this 3. they did this to punish the convicts effective or not, this is still a punishment, and is cruel and unusual, because seriously, why the fuck would you do that to a buncha men locked up in the same place for years?
Because they got themselves in that position? It's not like they got thrown in jail for nothing. Prison is, besides punishment, about what it's like to live in such restricted conditions. Free porn is a luxury item and one that can and should be taken away when you're in prison.
Boo hoo the constitution. Just get rid of the damned thing if it causes so many problems.
Yeah, maybe we should use another system of government that totally worked in the past like the Articles of Confederation
toilets arent nessesary, but we provide them because we're decent people. porn is the same thing.
That's a shitty (lol) analogy. toilets are basic necessity for health and hygiene, porn just makes wanking for interesting. It's like saying it's cruel and unusual punishment to not give them gravy on their potatoes.
Porn should be available to inmates. The benefit gained from the reduced sexual abuse in prison far outweighs the small increase in pleasantness of the US prison system.
doesn't mean they have the right to ban porn. on what grounds do they justify it?
Jeez I don't know. Armed robbery maybe? But yeah porno mags are fine by me if prisoners have them but if they don't, eh
I think prison should be an alternate reality where everything is exactly like how it is here but all the ceilings are exactly one inch below the height of the person standing upright That would be so annoying!
