EA's Origin service fucks up, offers infinite $20 off coupons, possibly banning users which took adv

Origin is so fucking terrible not even the entire EA catalog for free will make me want to install it.
Using a coupon for $20 off a game is now exploiting EA?
lol wow, I love it when people try and argue that mistakes on someone's part equivocate to them giving you the right to exploit that mistake without consequence
fact still is that they'll loose customers
making it a clearly dumb move
and nevermind EA exploiting people themselves rofl

we should seriously get a thread/server going

the client isn't that bad really
the store website is a piece of shit but the client is simpler and faster than Steam

Your loss.
Your loss.
Fuck, what will I ever do without Katy Perry's sweet treats expansion?

So your excuse is that: They can't do anything about it because they'll lose too many customers. (wrong).
And that it's totally okay because you have some angsty feelings towards EA.
And I'm glad to know that you're willing to bring yourself down to their level if that's what you believe.
Origin is not that bad but I heavily prefer Steam.

Ummm no I'm saying they shouldn't ban every single exploiter just for a tiny little thing and instead deal with it by simply removing the games
seriously, banning everyone for EA's mistake instead of fixing their mistake? what the fuck?
outright banning everyone regardless of anything instead of just removing the games and making it have not happened
yeah makes perfect sense!
except the fact that people will get pissed off and as a business move that's stupid, even if you're right, people will still be pissed. It's their fault for having a bad system, if theres an exploit people WILL use it.
In fact, the fact steam didn't ban people in that dirt 3 issue, will just make them look insanely bad if they banned people.

We shouldn't get banned for their mistake. We did no modification to anything. We just used what they gave us.
Max they should do is remove the games gotten with it.
Stop playing dumb. You're exploiting the system knowingly, and you're still trying to pretend that you're entitled to it.
Just admit that you're being a dishonest crook.

I personally don't admit to being entitled to it and think no one else here is so I don't know where you're getting that from
but calling them a dishonest crook, wow, they're sooo bad! trying to get a free game off the internet! What CROOKED BAD BAD PEOPLE!
I would disagree with steam doing it as well and know that steam would loose customers just the same. I was noting EA's exploits on a "to be fair" note.

honestly this whole white knighting "I'm too nice to do this you people should be ashamed of yourselfs" stuff is kind of silly
Ummm no I'm saying they shouldn't ban every single exploiter just for a tiny little thing and instead deal with it by simply removing the games

If you made an account solely to get free games then you have no claim to have that account. If you had games previously and used the code for free games, then you knowingly exploited a system at the cost of the people who maintain your place in the system, and risk your participation in the system at their discretion.

good job trivializing it :)
Yeah I have to agree. I browsed all the $20 games on Origin, and I either had them or they were terrible.
Origin's selection pales in comparison to steams.

How is it their fault that you're clearly purchasing products with a glitched system.
Fuck, they've now made it clear that they're banning people who are taking advantage of the glitch, and you're STILL trying to pretend that it's their fault you're exploiting their system to purchase games.
And a tiny little thing? 20% off of a shit load of games adds up pretty quick when you have entire internet communities trying to take advantage of the glitch.
Get over yourself. You're trying to justify being a selfish prick.
I bet you're the same kind of person who says it's totally okay to pirate shit because corporations are rich and don't need your money or something.
Stop trying to justify it. You'll at least gain some form of respect that way. Right now you just sound like a child.
It's like stealing someones bicycle because it isn't locked up. It's their fault!!! They shouldn't have left it unlocked if they didn't want me to steal it!!
Welp I got Crysis.
I hope it's good.

Except they were the ones that left it open to exploitation. Sure on accident, but still.
Most of us are just creating new accounts to get free games.
The only time banning should be warranted is if we are using things like VPNs or whatever to get multiple free games on one account.
Max just remove the accounts made just for the code.

and yet simply removing the games and preventing it would have a better effect, especially on a business level.
all I'm' trying to say is that removing the games is a far better solution, I'm not trying to totally justify free games, but fuck.
How is it their fault when they made a mistake? Is that what you're literally asking? Are you seriously saying that?
Wait are they banning accounts now? I found a glitch to get 2 games about 6 hours ago. I only wanted to get Spore and Dark Spore. I've always wanted those so bad. I love them, and I promise EA I'll always buy my games legit from now on unless they screw up again. I've got The Sims 3 and Mass Effect, both which I paid for legit. I've got the ME3 demo, and Dark Spore and Spore. Dark Spore and Spore were "bought" with the coupon. Oh God EA come on I've been with you guys for a year I love Origin please no.
How is it their fault that you're clearly purchasing products with a glitched system.
The system isn't glitched though. It's a coupon code you enter that they released publicly in surveys.

Please tell me how using a coupon code is exploiting the system.
honestly this whole white knighting "I'm too nice to do this you people should be ashamed of yourselfs" stuff is kind of silly
How is this white knighting? I'm simply pointing out how fucking dumb you guys sound acting like it's EA's fault that you are clicking "checkout" with 20$ off coupon that you got because you exploited the system.
Am I innocent? Fuck no. I've exploited a system in the past to get bullshit like this. Am I going to sit here and act like I totally deserved it and that it was the company's fault? No. I exploited a system because I wanted shit for way cheaper because I was cheap. Simple.
The system isn't glitched though. It's a coupon code you enter that they released publicly in surveys.
[editline]13th October 2012[/editline]
Exactly. It is a coupon code, so why would it be exploiting and why should they ban accounts? They are the ones who made infinite coupons.
Please tell me how using a coupon code is exploiting the system.
I'm assuming they intended the coupon to only work for one purchase and not the entire catalog on Origin.
Otherwise having a glitch in the system is the least of EA's worries
Origin is actually a nice, clean looking, and fast program. But since 1. EA owns it, 2. Games are expensive, 3. It's missing so much that Steam has, and 4. Everybody has used Steam longer nobody likes it.

If it wasn't exploiting the system they wouldn't be threatening to ban people who take advantage of it.
Think, ffs.
How is it their fault that you're clearly purchasing products with a glitched system.
I don't know maybe because it's their system that's bunked and not the people
Fuck, they've now made it clear that they're banning people who are taking advantage of the glitch, and you're STILL trying to pretend that it's their fault you're exploiting their system to purchase games.
how about they don't have such a shitty system and actually fix it any maybe these things wouldn't happen
And a tiny little thing? 20% off of a shit load of games adds up pretty quick when you have entire internet communities trying to take advantage of the glitch.
Except all of that can be fixed by removing the games like I've been trying to say
Get over yourself. You're trying to justify being a selfish prick.
I didn't even get any free games myself, and get over yourself, this obnoxious white knighting is just stupid, we aren't putting a multimillion/billion dollar company into bankruptcy for gods sakes, chill the fuck out
I bet you're the same kind of person who says it's totally okay to pirate shit because corporations are rich and don't need your money or something.
now you're pulling things out of you're ass to make me look like a selfish prick, when did I say that?, although, to be fair, watching MTV's cribs would make be feel better about downloading music, but I still wouldn't download music like that because umm... that's not me
Stop trying to justify it. You'll at least gain some form of respect that way. Right now you just sound like a child.
I bet you're just such a kind, flawless, perfect human being who doesn't do anything bad ever :downs:
It's like stealing someones bicycle because it isn't locked up. It's their fault!!! They shouldn't have left it unlocked if they didn't want me to steal it!!
how is that even SLIGHTLY close? Are you insane? Because this is way easier to fix than a stolen bike. and I've said this before, I'm not justifying using the code, Im' saying banning shouldn't be an option
you're acting like this is some huge big deal and it's a horrible tragedy and EA can't do anything about it. OMG THEY ARE SO SCREWED HOW COULD PEOPLE DO THIS TO THEM!
are you for real?
they made an INFINITELY usable coupon, do you realize how obvious it is that they shouldn't have done that? it's clearly their fault. This isn't like a hacker leaking a game or a password, this is SPECIFICALLY their fault, THEY specifically caused this. This isn't not having a lock on a bike, this is leaving a bike next to a trash can on trash day. However, I'm still not justifying using it, but saying that banning them instead of simply removing them will not help.
